Running something by you

Written by Michelle

Hugh, Tanya and Leroy

"Leroy?"

"Yes, Tanya?"

"Can I have your impartial opinion on something I want to run by Wayne?"

"Certainly."

Tanya looked to Hugh. Hugh swallowed and took a deep breath.

"I would like to meet the Evanses."

Leroy frowned slightly.

"You would?"

"Not for... not for anything bad," Hugh hurried on. "One of the things my people prided themselves on what how much of our heritage - primarily in the form of Semerillan specific data - we've retained since the crash. One of the things that you've told me is thet Liz Evans is now a Semerillan - that she was transformed by the Device. It occured to me just the other day that if our people had retained so much, surely they would have known about that aspect of it. Yet they've been touting Max as insulting the Semerillan race by taking a human wife and now all their children will be hybrid scum."

"Hybrid scum?"

"That would be the polite translation."

"Ahh. And you want to see for yourself if Liz really is a Sem?"

"It's not that I disbelieve you," Hugh insisted. "But it does contractidt what I've been taught. And the SPM does operate on a need to know basis, but if they've hidden this, what else might they have hidden? A lot of what I've seen already since I've been living here doesn't really match with what I've been taught and, to be blunt, it's making me nervous."

"Test results aren't enough?"

"They wouldn't mean anything to me. Besides, if it is all true, then I owe the Evanses all an apology. Especially, umm... Alex... who isn't even an Evans..."

Leroy nodded slowly.

"I'm perfectly willing to be collared, and go under any security precautions you think is neccesary," Hugh added. "I have tried to kill them after all."

Leroy chuckled.

"I think that as long as you get Wayne on a good day he'll be amenable. But you will have to get consent from Max and Liz themselves."

"Of course."

"Okay so all we have to do is get Wayne on a good day," Tanya said, then considered. "Does Wayne even have good days?"

Leroy laughed.
