Not really married

Written by Michelle

Isaac and Nikki

"Hello?"

"Hey Nikki," Isaac said cheerfully.

"That was quick. I thought it would be ages before you got my message."

"I was going to call you anyway. What happened?"

"You know the celebrant who conducted our wedding?"

"Yeah?"

"That," and here Nikki took great pains and many expletives to describe said man, "wasn't a real celebrant."

Pause.

"He wasn't... But we saw..."

"Yeah, he's not registered. Trust me, I've been through this."

"I... well... I... you... we... he..."

"Yeah, we're not really married."

"But... I... you... we..."

"Yeah, it completely sucks. So we have to get married. Again. Assuming of course... you want to stay married to me? I mean remarry me. I mean... whatever."

"What? Of course I do," Isaac insisted. "I'm just..."

"Yeah, I know. On the bright side," Nikki added cynically. "We get to have that wedding everyone was so disapointed we didn't have."

Isaac managed a pained laugh.

"Look, I think I'm going to try and make plans for something sooner rather than later," Nikki said. "I've already started looking around. If it's a date while you guys are on tour, you think you can teleport here with those amp thingys?"

"It should be doable. I'm so sorry, Nikki."

"It's not your fault. At least now I know why I couldn't get my official marriage certificate, huh?"

"Yeah."
