"Thanks for inviting us over," Elata said cheerfully.
"You're welcome, dear," Madame Bella replied.
The four sat down to the meal together and after saying grace they dug in.
"How'd the job hunting going?" she asked after awhile.
"I got one!" Elata declared. "I'm working at Susan Grey's."
"Clothes?"
"Yeah. Formal wear. Plus, plus, plus, they do costumes and custom jobs and it's awesome."
"Ahh," Madame Bella chuckled. "Roberto? You found anything? Or are you planning on returning to Canada?"
"No and no," Roberto replied. "Aside from the fact that I'm dating Princess Mia now, mutant rights or not, the folks back home don't really care for me. I'm still better off here. So, yeah, still looking."
"Anything field in particular? Power related?"
"I don't really care to be a gardener."
"Ahh," Madame Bella smiled. "Elata mentioned to me once she asked you to grow her wings?"
"I still want them, by the way," Elata nodded. "And I want to fly with them."
"I could grow wings," Roberto said seriously. "But there's the whole areodynamics thing. And biology. Also, I would only have one shot at making them. I couldn't just alter them afterwards, or remove them."
Madame Bella nodded seriously.
"I've applied for Genovia University - medicine," Roberto went on. "I thought maybe I could use my power to help amputees."
"There's a good idea."
"I'd need to know more about the human body though. Plants are easy. Bodies not so much."
"This is very true," Madame Bella agreed, paused briefly, then continued: "You could work for me, if you want?"
"That would be so cool!" Elata exclaimed.
"Uhh, well..." Roberto stammered. "Uhh, doing what exactly?"
"What I do, of course," Madame Bella replied. "You'd be amazed at the number of people who decide they want unicorn horns or tails or other such appendages. My power can allow me to remove any 'mistakes' or otherwise when the client gets bored - that happens a lot too, actually."
Elata giggled although Madame Bella made a point of not looking at her.
"It might also give you the chance to explore your power practically. You'll get a lot of the theory at medical school but they can't tell you how to use your power to help people with missing limbs."
Roberto frowned slightly and nodded slowly.
"How come you never offered me a job?" Henry asked in the silence that followed.
"Like I'm really going to expose you - and your power - to my customers," Madame Bella replied cynically.
Henry chuckled.
