Head on a stick

Written by Nessa and AiMsTeR

Faith

Faith yawned, rubbing a hand over tired eyes as she padded into the bathroom, careful not to disrupt Sam or Dean as she passed them.

She splashed some cold water on her face, then changed into a pair of sweatpants and a singlet. She left the bathroom and slid her feet into her shoes, lacing them quickly before slipping out of the motel room.

She blinked in the early morning sun, glancing around for a moment, before heading out the back to do her early morning work out.

Sam & Dean

Sam woke up as Faith left, sitting up in bed as he watched her shadow move past the window. He remained sitting up in bed for a while, rubbing his eyes tiredly, before pulling himself out of bed and towards the bathroom. He ran the shower and got in, the noise in turn waking up Dean.

When Dean noticed that both of them were gone, he listened to hear if they were both in the shower together. Not hearing anything to the affirmative, he got out of his own bed and made his way into the bathroom to brush his teeth.

Faith

Faith jumped up a little, catching the metal bar easily and began doing chin ups. She breathed deeply through her nose, wishing she'd thought to bring sunglasses out.

After one hundred chin ups, she dropped down to the ground, arms resting on her knees as she caught her breath.

Sweat glistened on her chest and she straightened up, heading back to the room.

Dean & Sam

"...And then he probably wouldn't have, anyway," Dean insisted as he went through his dirty laundry.

"You never know," Sam shrugged from where he'd planted himself at his laptop again.

"Actually I do. She tried to do it on like the third day? Struck out. Badly."

"Did she get hurt?" Sam looked across at him.

"Nah. No damage but to her ego."

Faith

Faith walked inside the room, closing the door behind her with her foot. She stretched out, her shoulders clicking slightly.

"Yeah, I really have to start doing that more."

She went over to her bag and grabbed out some underwear, flicking them around her fingers for a second before pulling out some clothes.

Sam & Dean

"'Morning Faith," Sam greeted without looking up.

Dean whistled.

"What a tease," hemused.

Faith

"Morning, cutie."

Faith glanced at Dean and smiled slightly, pulling her singlet over her head as she walked to the bathroom, back and neck covered in fingerprint bruises and bitemarks.

"Oh and Sam?" she turned, sticking her head out the door and grinning wickedly. "Ouch."

And with that, she closed the door.

Dean & Sam

"No way," Dean looked disbelievingly at his little brother.

"Hmm?" Sam looked up, barely paying attention.

"You didn't."

"I didn't what?"

"Do that to her."

"What?" Sam looked towards the bathroom.

"Phew. I knew it," Dean chuckled.

Faith

Faith stepped out of the shower a few minutes later, standing in front of a steam covered mirror while she dried herself off. She wiped her hand over the glass, clearing the condensation away and tilted her head slightly, fingers ghosting across one of the more prominent bruises.

Turning away, she dressed quickly, opening the bathroom door and stretching as she walked over to her bag. She yawned again.

Dean & Sam

"Ready to hit the road?" Dean's eyebrows rose.

Sam was busy packing away his computer.

Faith

"Mmmm," Faith hummed to the affirmative, bending over to pick up some of her things.

She stayed like that for a minute, straightening her legs and feeling the familiar ache of the stretch.

Dean & Sam

"Good," Dean clapped his hands, standing up and grabbing his duffel before heading out to the car.

"Dean-" Sam began, putting his laptop bag over his shoulder but stopping to look back.

He threw some more random items of cothing into his duffel with his free hand, struggled to zip it up, then headed out after his brother.

Faith

Faith lifted her bag, struggling for a second to answer her phone that was also ringing.

"Dev, I have normal person hearing. Tone it down a notch, babe," she replied, by way of greeting, heading for the door. "Slightly pornographic for so early in the morning, but I have come to expect that from you."

Dean & Sam

Dean was already in the driver's seat, and Sam had just put his stuff in the trunk before waiting for Faith to get in before him.

Faith

Faith smiled at Sam, tossing her bag into the trunk and closing it, while still listening to Devon talk about whatever it was he was talking about.

"I don't know," she replied, getting into the car and settling herself comfortably. "I think that would break you."

Dean & Sam

"No reception where we're going, you might want to pack it in," Dean told her as he started the car.

Sam got himself in just in time for Dean to speed off, only able to close the door just before they hit the edge of the road.

"Cutting it close Dean," he scowled.

"I don't want to lose daylight," he replied by way of explanation.

Faith

"Yeah," Faith said to Dean and Devon at the same time. "Hey Dev, I gotta go, but tell Oz to give Xander a call. He might know more about it. Oh and I wouldn't. Trust me, you don't want to get stuck in that position. Leg cramps. See ya."

She slid her phone shut and settled down against Sam, sliding a hand over his knee.

Dean & Sam

A few hours later, Dean pulled into a truckstop.

"Lunch?" Sam looked over at him.

"And gas," Dean nodded, pulling over to a pump.

"Right. Want me to get you something?"

"I'll come in," Dean insisted, shutting the car off and getting out.

"Coming?" Sam looked at Faith as he opened his door.

Faith

"You know me," Faith smiled faintly.

She followed Sam out and stretched, blinking in the sun.

Sam & Dean

Sam closed the door behind her, then led her into the adjoining diner.

He stood back a little to contemplate the menu, glancing outside at Dean every few moments.

Faith

Faith leaned against the bar, looking over the menu and ignoring the whistles and comments that were coming from a table not too far from them.

"Oh yeah, that's nice," one of the older men said, laughing. "Don't get talent like that much around these parts."

Sam

Sam sent the man a warning glare, before stepping forward and leaning one arm around Faith.

"My shout, ok?"

Faith

Faith grinned and looked up at him.

"Will this require some sort of repayment later on?" she asked, eyes twinkling.

"Yeah, that is A-grade ass," one of the other men said.

The first man laughed. "What ya wouldn't do to get into that."

Sam

"Keep me from doing something I'll regret and it's already paid," Sam glanced over at them again before he finally selected something from the menu.

Faith

Faith bent slightly, to study the menu a little closer.

"Oh there is a God!" another called out. "A little more honey, and maybe drop the pants. A little rough and tumble."

She straightened up, turned around and walked over to the table. "Hi. You wanted something rough?"

Not waiting for a reply, she picked up the napkin dispenser and smashed it into the man's face, smirking as his chair tipped back in surprise.

"And there's your tumble."

Sam

Sam stood up, resisting the urge to go over.

"Faith?!" he called her back.

Faith

Faith looked at the rest of the group, who were staring at their friend in shock.

"She broke my f-ing nose!"

She held back a laugh and walked back over to Sam.

Sam & Dean

"You are such a bad influence," Sam shook his head as he put his arm around her.

The door jingled, and in walked Dean.

"What'd I miss?" he rubbed his hands together, "ooh, pig in a poke!"

Faith

Faith grinned, leaning against Sam's side.

"Hey, sexual harrassment isn't that fun, you know."

Sam & Dean

"And yet you wouldn't let me kill a guy that wanted to make you a wax statue," Sam mused as Dean placed his order.

Faith

Faith gestured to the man, in pain and bleeding.

"Hey, I didn't kill him."

She goosed him lightly.

Dean

"What the heck are you two going on about?" Dean looked between them as he leant on the counter.

Faith

"Sexual harrassment."

Faith rubbed her nose with her free hand.

Dean

"You want some?" Dean looked hopeful.

Faith

"Oh always," Faith said sarcastically.

"I live for it."

Sam & Dean

"Dean-"

"Relax," Dean scorned, grabbing the drink he'd already paid for and screwing the cap open to take a swig.

Faith

Faith slid her hand into Sam's back pocket, resting against him.

"So," she said, glancing around. "Where are we?"

Dean & Sam

"Sixty miles North of where we want to be," Dean replied as he grabbed his food and began out the door again.

"Are you sure it's a poltergeist?" Sam asked him, "it could just be a benevolant spirit..."

"She said poltergeist. But seeing as no one's been out there for years it might have even moved on already," by now Dean was halfway to the car, "but we'll still need to park the car and hike."

Faith

Faith grabbed her food, actually pretty interested now that Dean had mentioned the word hike. She felt like she hadn't had any decent exercise in awhile, and so was looking forward to it.

"I miss the days when poltegeists weren't a topic of conversation. Simpler times, when it was all about vampires and demons," she grinned.

Sam & Dean

"Simpler times for us were just spirits and ghouls," Sam mused, "now that demons are everywhere, its a whole other story."

He held the door open for her and walked her over to the car, Dean sitting in the driver's seat and stuffing his face already.

Faith

"Ah, if only we could ignore what was out there and set up house with a puppy."

Faith hopped into the car, opening her bag of food as she settled herself down.

Sam

"I wish," Sam rolled his eyes, getting in after her and closing the door.

Dean finished his mouthful and pulled out of the garage, heading down the highway once again.

Faith

Faith lifted her head off Sam's shoulder and blinked as she felt the car stop.

"This it?"

Dean & Sam

"As far as we'll get by car," Dean replied, as Sam helped her up.

Dean popped the trunk and got out, going to fetch some tools of the trade.

"Awake enough?" Sam asked Faith, holding back a yawn himself.

Faith

Faith stretched her arms up, shirt riding up while her pants slipped down a little.

"Mmm, yeah, sorta. Or, you could carry me," she said cheekily.

Sam

Sam smirked, getting out of the car, then leaning back in.

"Piggy-back?" he offered, grinning.

Faith

Faith laughed and nodded as she slid herself off the seat and out of the car.

"Um, yes please."

Sam & Dean

"Ok. Wait until we pack up and I'm all yours," Sam closed the door behind her and walked around to the trunk.

Just in time for Dean to close it and hand him his readily-packed duffel.

"Ok..." Sam chewed his bottom lip, looking it over.

"What?" Dean frowned.

"Faith?" Sam turned to her, "carry this for me?"

"You're kidding," Dean scorned.

Faith

Faith took it, and then glanced between the pair.

"You don't really have to carry me."

Sam & Dean

"Up, milady," Sam bent over a little.

Dean's eyebrows just rose, until it clicked what was happening.

Faith

Faith grinned and hitched herself up on Sam's back, wrapping her arms and legs around him.

"You're pretty much the best ever."

Sam & Dean

"Well duh, it took you long enough to realise," Sam teased, hefting her up a little before he started walking.

"How far is it?"

"About two miles. Not too far," Dean replied, following behind.

Faith

Faith grinned.

"Shut up, or I'll bite you," she threatened.

Sam & Dean

"Feisty," Sam grinned.

"Since when did you become the fliry sex-obsessed brother, huh?" Dean attempted a tease.

"You didn't know me in college," Sam pointed out.

"I didn't want to know you in college, you geek."

Faith

"Man, if I'd gone to college, I would've spent most of that time naked. Or barely dressed. Although really, that is kind of how I spend high school," Faith mused.

She held on a little tighter, feeling her legs slip.

Sam & Dean

Sam felt her slipping and hefted her up again.

"Sam spent his college years with his nose in a book and a hookup ratio of 0.0," Dean mused.

"And yet who had the girlfriend?" Sam hit back.

"I had Cassie."

"Ok next topic," Sam could see where that was going.

Faith

Faith rested her head against Sam's shoulder as they walked.

"Um, let me know if I get too heavy or something."

Sam

"Ask me again in a half hour," Sam chuckled to himself.

Faith

Faith grinned and lay a kiss on the back of Sam's neck.

"Will do."

Sam & Dean

They were walking for a good hour or so through rough winding tracks, Sam having dropped Faith off at about the halfway mark and opting to carry the bag instead.

Dean was the first to spot the old building in the distance, coming to rest on top of a slight hill.

"About damn TIME!" he yelled.

Faith

"Creepy," Faith commented, coming up behind Dean.

"Although, I guess I wasn't really expecting anything less."

Dean & Sam

"I've given up expecting anything different," Dean spat, starting to walk down to it.

"Yeah I remember at some point wondering why we never rounded a corner to see a nice house," Sam mused, following.

Faith

"It'd be nice to have to be stuck in a nice mansion type deal. For once."

Faith shrugged again and followed along behind.

Dean & Sam

"I wouldn't like to be stuck anywhere for a change," Dean said.

"Amen to that," Sam saluted.

Faith

"Oh, I don't know," Faith said, overtaking the pair.

"A little bit of bondage never hurt anyone."

Sam & Dean

"Ok, so, I'm out of this conversation," Sam made a cross with his fingers towards Faith.

Dean cracked up laughing.

"Ah, you don't know what you're missing..."

Faith

Faith smirked slightly.

"Foliage?"

Dean & Sam

Dean broke into a giggle.

"Do not want to know," Sam inisted, blocking his ears, "not listening!"

Faith

Faith laughed, stretching her arms above her head as she walked.

"I was merely commenting on the lack of foliage around."

Dean & Sam

Dean stopped and waited until Sam had caught up to him, then hit him over the head.

"Ow! What was that for?" Sam demanded.

"Pay attention to the lady," Dean nodded, before starting to walk again.

Faith

Faith grinned to herself as she walked ahead.

"Ok, so wait, what's the deal with this place?"

Dean & Sam

"Basic poltergeist activity," Dean shrugged, "but I'd say it's either a majorly pissed off spirit with a bone to pick, or some low level demon feeling extremely bored."

"Just another day at the office," Sam added.

Faith

"Well for you. Another day at the office for me is... like... vampires. Or, you know, an apocalypse."

Faith stopped walking and let Dean take the lead.

Dean & Sam

"You've done demons before," Dean pointed out.

"Well, not done demons, but you know. Dealt with."

Sam's face flushed red, and he was suddenly very glad he was walking behind them.

Faith

Faith glanced behind at Sam and hid her grin, refocusing on where she was walking.

"Yeah, but my demons are usually all big, slimey and stupid. Well, actually... no, they were all stupid."

Dean & Sam

"And ours are just smartass pains in the ass," Dean added.

"Who were once human," Sam cleared his throat.

"And who posess humans and therefore look like them. Rather than being... well, big and slimey."

Faith

"Yeah, Chaos Demons are the worst. All antlers and slime. But apparently, really good in bed, so you know, I guess you always have something going for you."

Faith shrugged.

Dean & Sam

"Seduction is part of the demon deal I think," Dean shrugged.

"Not necessarily..." Sam said thoughtfully.

"You know what I mean. Most of them are skanks looking for a good time. It's just usually involving more intestines on the outside than human orgasms."

Faith

"We should all love ourselves more before it's made illegal," Faith mused.

She rubbed her nose.

Dean & Sam

Dean stopped in front of the house and looked back at her, eyebrows raised.

"Yeah I'm not sure I want to know either," Sam mused, walking past and jogging up the steps.

"Oh no, I want to know. In graphic detail," Dean insisted.

Faith

Faith smirked and walked past Dean, and up the stairs.

"Maybe later, if you behave."

Dean & Sam

"I'll be on my best behaviour," Dean saluted, before following.

"Guys," Sam scorned, looking over the locks o the front dor and stooping to pick them.

"She did say maybe, if it makes you feel better."

Faith

Faith folded her arms over her chest, glancing at her watch for a second.

"Dammit. My watch has stopped."

Sam & Dean

Sam looked up, hesitated with a glance at Dean, then went back to what he was doing until he got the door open.

Dean checked his own watch.

"Yep, mine too. Great," he huffed.

Faith

Faith scratched the back of her head and waited for one of them to take the lead.

She was starting to wish she'd just slept in the car.

Sam & Dean

"As long as we don't run into any reapers, we're cool," Sam nodded, opening the door and stepping through.

Dean followed, waving his hand and coughing at the dust that flew up as Sam wiped away some cobwebs with his arm.

"Nice welcoming committee," Dean nodded to a skeleton on the floor.

Faith

Faith walked behind the boys, nose tingling from the dust inside the house.

She sneezed loudly and suddenly, even startling herself.

Dean & Sam

Dean jumped an obvious few inches at the sudden noise, then berrated himself with a slap over the head.

"Anyone home?!" Sam called loudly.

"You really expecting an answer?" Dean asked him.

"You never know," Sam shrugged.

Faith

Faith moved further into the house, looking around.

"So... what now?"

Dean & Sam

"We set up shop," Dean walked over to the nearest table and dumped his bag, "just in case it is a poltergeist."

He unzipped the bag and started pulling out some small jars and cloth bags as Sam followed suit and dumped his own bag on one of the chairs.

"It'll probably know what we're up to, judging by experience, so we can't separate once we start," Sam cautioned, loading one of the shotguns with rock salt shells."

Faith

"Well, I just love threesomes," Faith mused to herself.

She continued looking around, still wondering why she'd agreed to this and hadn't opted to... not come. She was starting to get a really bad feeling about this house.

Dean & Sam

"Please tell me you're offering," Dean smiled at her charmingly.

Sam hit him in the arm, before sitting at the table and starting to mix together some small bags of angelica root, graveyard dirt, and the like.

Faith

"You'd really like to have a threesome with your brother?" Faith asked, raising an eyebrow in amusement.

"Although... you know, it would be pretty athletic."

Dean & Sam

"I was thinking more about the waitress at the last diner we stopped at. Phew, she was something," Dean shook his head appreciatively.

"So how about you go and hook up with her tomorrow and leave us some time?" Sam suggested sarcastically.

"And miss out on the fun? No way."

Dean jumped as a thud was heard from the corner of the room, and immediately shone his flashlight over. A small vase as rolling across the floor.

"Come on, hurry," Sam insisted, tying off the bags.

Faith

"Sometimes I hate this job."

Faith scratched her stomach.

Dean & Sam

"You learn to love it," Dean smirked.

"That's it, come on," Sam grabbed the bags and stood.

"Thank God it's only a one storey house," Dean muttered.

He followed Sam to the corner, cocking his shotgun full of rock salt shells as he kept an eye out.

"Stay close," Sam said to Faith, as he kicked in the dry wall in the corner and threw a bag in the hole.

Faith

"Will do, cutie."

Faith followed along behind Sam.

Sam & Dean

Sam smirked and led the way around the house, hitting the North, East and West corners to do the same as he had to the South. Dean in turn blasted anything that moved, including an old stove that had decided to launch itself at them from the kitchen.

When it was over a similar blue cloud dispersed suddenly over the house, and the boys both breathed a sigh of relief.

"Is this one really done?" Dean looked at Sam.

"Yeah, it's gone," Sam nodded after pausing for a moment.

"Good," Dean nodded, heading back to where they'd left their stuff, "then let's hit the hiking trail."

Faith

"Is it my turn to carry you?" Faith teased Sam as they followed Dean.

"I think I could manage it for a few minutes."

Sam & Dean

"You're kidding, right?" Sam mused, closing his duffel.

"Dude, I wouldn't turn down riding her if I were you," Dean pointed out.

"Thanks," Sam scorned.

Faith

"Well, I'm strong enough. The only problem we'd have is you're too tall."

Faith grinned slightly, thinking.

"I could probably carry Dean a little easier."

Dean & Sam

"Is that an offer?" Dean looked up hopefully.

"You wish," Sam threw his bag at him.

Dean rolled his eyes as he pulled the strap over his shoulder. Sam followed suit, clicked his flashlight on, and headed for the front door.

"Man, I can't wait to get back to that nice warm bed," Dean closed his eyes as he plodded down the front steps.

Faith

"Mmm," Faith hummed in agreement. "And a hot shower."

She looked over at Sam, with a twinkle in her eye.

Sam & Dean

Sam smiled back at her.

"I'm in," he nodded.

"Oh come on. You're gonna make me rent another room, aren't you?" Dean complained.

"As if you would anyway," Sam scoffed.

Faith

Faith slipped her hand into Sam's as they started on the hiking trail again.

"Well, Sam's not as - " she cut herself off, figuring they probably didn't want comparisons of each other.

Cause... awkward.

Dean & Sam

"Not as what?" Dean asked.

"Dean," Sam shook his head, "let's not get into comparisons."

Dean nodded.

"Probably a good idea. I'm obviousy better. Jealous."

Sam just shook his head again and kept walking.

Faith

Faith let out an involuntary snort.

"Sorry. Moving along."

Dean & Sam

"Sorry, but I'm older. Which means more experienced."

"According to you," Sam corrected.

"You want to argue the point?"

"Hell no," Sam shook his head, "not after the twin episode..."

Dean chuckled.

Faith

"I'm younger than you though," Faith pointed out. "And I think I could show you a thing or two."

She wrinkled her nose up.

"At least... well if you guys do, you never made me act out weird fetishes."

Sam & Dean

Sam looked across at Dean who was grinning like a maniac.

"You don't want to know," Sam insisted.

"Or maybe she does," Dean chuckled.

"Red light situation. Let's move on," Sam announced.

"And the professor strikes again..."

Faith

"Well, I was thinking more of... you guys don't want to be defecated on."

Faith shrugged.

"Coz I had one guy ask for that once, and yeah... I left pretty quickly."

Dean & Sam

"I've had that too," Dean admitted with a nod.

"You never told me that. Ew," Sam grimaced.

"Well it's not exactly something to bring up over dinner," Dean reasoned, "but man, the kinks some people have... and people think I'm weird."

Faith

"I like to think I'm pretty open minded, and I'm usually willing to do anything at least once, but yeah, there are some things I draw the line at."

Faith shrugged.

Sam & Dean

"Same as anyone," Sam shrugged as they finally made it back to the impala.

Dean opened the trunk and dumped his bag, Sam following suit.

"Did you miss us, baby?" Dean grinned, patting the trunk after he closed it again.

Sam smirked and went to open the passenger door for Faith.

Faith

"I'd be worried about the fact he talks to the car, but," Faith ran a hand through her hair. "I once caught Xander talking to a plastic horse, so you know..."

She slid into the car.

Dean & Sam

"Ignore her, baby," Dean gave the dashboard a loving pat.

Sam rolled his eyes and got in as well, closing the door and Dean turned the ignition.

Nothing happened.

"What the...?" Dean scowled, trying again.

Faith

"When it rains, it pours," Faith murmured to herself.

She glanced at Sam, then at Dean.

Sam & Dean

"It hasn't rained yet," Sam attempted a joke.

"Give me that flashlight," Dean grabbed one of Sam, popped the hood, and got out the car again.

He went around to the front, lifted the hood, and shone the light over the engine.

"Looks like we might be here a while," Sam sighed.

Faith

Faith pouted.

"Damn, was looking forward to that shower. Or rather, the naked Sam part."

Sam & Dean

"Mmm... I could have done with the naked Faith part," Sam grinned, leaning in to kiss her.

He pulled back a little at the sound of Dean cursing.

Faith

Faith smiled, then pecked him lightly, hearing Dean from outside.

"Well, that doesn't sound promising. Should we...?"

Sam & Dean

"Should we what?" Sam asked as Dean slammed the trunk down.

Sam jumped at the noise, watching as Dean came back to the car and got in.

"Someone's screwing with us," he announced once the door was closed.

"What do you mean?" Sam asked.

"I mean, that the fan belt isn't just loose, it's been cut," Dean explained in a haughty tone.

Faith

"See," Faith said, glancing at Sam. "Pouring."

She slumped back down against the seat.

"Alone in the dark, in the middle of nowhere with two cute boys. I guess it could be worse."

She paused.

"It could be better, but you know."

Dean & Sam

"I'm not cute, I'm hot," Dean corrected.

"So what are we gonna do? Just sit here and wait to get ambushed by demons or whatever?" Sam asked.

"I'm tired, Sam. I'm really not in the mood to go hiking again. We have enough rations to last us a day or two, but if you can't wait then by all means..."

Faith

"He has a point, gorgeous," Faith said, looking up at Sam. "I mean, we're pretty much stuck here until morning at least."

She paused.

"Besides, any demons or vampires arrive, you do have your very own little Slayer here. And I know how much you love to watch me get dirty," she grinned.

Sam & Dean

Sam looked between them, knowing he was outnumbered.

"Fine," he relented, "but first thing tomorrow we set off, right?"

"Sounds good to me," Dean nodded, before sliding down in his seat and closing his eyes.

Faith

"Sleep, ok?" Faith said to Sam.

She slipped her hand into his and squeezed gently.

"And if it makes you feel better, I'll keep watch."

Sam

"No, you sleep. I'll keep watch," Sam insisted, "I'm not tired in the least. I promise."

Faith

"Liar," Faith said gently, reaching up and touching his chin.

"I'm not sleeping if you're not sleeping. So, stalemate. Of course, to make it more interesting, we could keep watch from the backseat."

She grinned faintly.

Dean & Sam

"Just do it quietly, or my camera phone's gonna get a workout. And I'll YouTube it," Dean warned.

"Ew," Sam scorned.

"Not a threat, either."

Faith

Faith snorted.

"I actually did just mean keep a watch," she said, glancing at Sam. "I just wanted to stretch out against the cute one."

Dean & Sam

"Fine," Dean grunted.

"Fine with me too," Sam grinned, opening the door and holding it for Faith.

"Hurry up, it's cold," Dean insisted.

Faith

Faith laughed and hopped out of the car, rubbing her arms with her hands for warmth. She opened the back and slid inside, waiting for Sam.

"Your name is going to be blanket for a few minutes, as am cold," she said to him.

Sam

"There's some blankets on the floor on there somewhere," Sam indicated as he slipped in beside her.

He reached down for one, pulled her down onto him, and threw it over her.

Faith

Faith snuggled into Sam, resting her head against his chest and pulling the blanket tighter around herself.

"Thanks, handsome."

She glanced up at him.

"So, if you had to choose between no more sex ever, or really bad painful sex, for the rest of your life, what would you pick?"

Sam

"None," Sam replied straight away.

"Do we always have to talk below the belt? You're worse than..."

He left the comment hanging, but his eyes were on his brother.

Faith

"Whey'd you think Dean and I got along so well in high school?"

Faith shrugged.

"We can talk about whatever you want, cutie."

Sam

"We could talk about those premonitions of yours," Sam suggested, half regretting it already.

Faith

Faith glanced up at him.

"What about them?"

She paused.

"We can talk about other things. Like... like the time I wrestled alligators."

Sam

"You wrestled alligtors?" Sam raised an eyebrow.

Faith

"Yeah, there was this Big Dadd vampire out in Missouri, used to keep them as pets... so he had me wrestling one of them, and it was like 12 feet long..."

Faith shrugged.

Sam

"I bet that was fun," Sam mused.

"Very Steve Irwin."

Faith

"Yeah... I live for that sort of thing."

Faith shrugged.

"Less fun was the time I got arrested for indecent exposure."

Sam

"Getting arrested is never fun," Sam said with a pointed look at Dean.

He hesitated as some light shone over the seat in front of him, then turned to look through the back window.

Faith

Faith raised her hand to cover her eyes.

"Calvary?"

Dean & Sam

Dean's eyes opened, but he didn't move.

"Or maybe Indians," Sam pointed out, spotting the headlights coming up the track.

Dean grunted, finally pulling himself up.

"Be on guard," he insisted, "who knows what this loser's doing out here at this time of night."

Faith

"Yeah, very much too pretty to die."

Faith reluctantly pulled away from the comfort of Sam's arms.

Dean & Sam

It was another ten minutes or so before the truck pulled up behind them, and Dean got out to 'greet' the driver.

"Having some trouble there, huh?" the man called out.

"Busted fan belt," Dean was shielding his eyes from the headlights as he walked toward the truck.

"Damn! All the way out here? What are you kids doing out here anyway? Come to see that haunted house?"

"Something like that," Dean glanced back at the car, "you here to help us out or gloat?"

"I can give you guys a tow, but I'm heading South."

"No problem, we're heading South anyway," Dean smiled, almost sarcastically.

"Great then."

"Nearest gas station would be a great help."

"Tell you what. I got a few fan belts at my place, which is halfway between here and the closest servo. What do you say?"

"How much?" Dean asked.

"I'll take ten bucks for the tow, and that'll cover the fanbelt. How's that sound?"

"Sounds great," Dean smiled genuine this time.

"She's a fine piece of machinery, ain't she?" the man looked the car over.

"She certainly is. Rebuilt her myself three years ago."

"And a mighty fine job you did too. Well, let's get you kids hitched up and out of here."

"Thanks man," Dean gave him a thumbs up, before heading back to the door.

He opened it and leant in.

"This guy's gonna give us a tow back to his place. And don't worry, he's human. As far as I can smell."

"Need any help?" Sam offered.

"Nah we're cool," Dean tapped the roof before closing the door again.

Faith

"Maybe I'm just cynical, but it's a little weird that he's so helpful, right?" Faith looked at Sam.

"But then again, maybe nice guys exist. Who knew?"

Sam & Dean

"I'd like to know why he was out here in the first place. It's almost like he knew..." Sam cut himself off as Dean helped the man connect the tow rope to the front of the car.

When they were set Dean gave the guy a wave, and they both returned to their respective vehicles.

Faith

Faith glanced at Sam again.

"Did he say how far his place was?"

Dean & Sam

"Not far. It's like an hour to the nearest gas station and he said his place was halfway, so thirty minutes maybe?" Dean shrugged.

"Did he say what he was doing out here in the first place?" Sam asked cautiously.

Dean hesitated

"No actually, he didn't."

Faith

"Well, at this point, it's better than nothing, right?"

Faith shrugged.

"Also, I think together we could overpower him if he does turn out to be evil."

Dean & Sam

"Very true," Dean insisted.

"So I guess we're in for a half hour ride," Sam sighed.

"Which means nap time for me," Dean annunced, sliding down comfortably again and closing his eyes.

Faith

"And..." Faith kissed Sam softly. "Some of this while keeping a suspicious eye out, for us."

She smiled.

Sam

Sam grinned.

"I'm up for it," he agreed, leaning in to kiss her again.

Faith

Faith laughed softly, wrapping her arms around his neck.

"Thought you be."

Sam & Dean

What seemed like forever later, Sam used his phone to check his watch, vaguely noticing there was no signal.

"It's been a hour," he said, "didn't Dean say it'd only take half that?"

"Yeah, he did," Dean grunted from the front seat.

Faith

Faith stirred at the sound of Sam's voice.

"We're not there yet? Boo. I was having a good dream too."

Dean & Sam

Dean sat up with a full body stretch, groaning as his spine fell back into place.

As soon as he'd settled, they pulled off onto another gravel track. Sam sighed as he spied a fence, telling him they were entering a property.

"About time," he said.

Faith

"Hmm, nice and remote. Perfect place to hide bodies," Faith observed cynically.

She glanced at Sam.

Sam

"Why, are you worried?" Sam teased, giving her a soft squeeze.

Faith

"Alert, not alarmed."

Faith smiled at him, then leaned over and kissed him again.

Sam & Dean

"Best way to be," Sam shrugged.

As the truck and car came to a halt, Dean immediately opened the door and got out. As he headed for the truck, Sam yawned.

"Guess we'd better stretch our legs," he said, opening the door and stepping out.

Faith

"Guess so."

Faith followed him out of the car, stretching her arms up as she yawned.

Sam & Dean

Sam put an arm around her to keep her warm.

A few minutes later, Dean returned.

"Ok, he's got the fan belt. I'll put it in myself so we can get going. He's got a campfire going out back though, so if you two wanna get warmed up while you wait then by all means-"

"Sounds good," Sam nodded, "Faith?"

Faith

"Alright, but I warn you, campfires make me want marshmallows."

Faith leaned into Sam.

Sam & Dean

"Ditto. Maybe he'll have some," Sam chuckled, walking with her in the direction Dean had indicated.

"I'll be with you guys in no time," Dean waved after them, popping the hood of the impala and getting to work.

Faith

Faith slid her arm around Sam's waist, under his jacket so she was a little warmer.

"Yeah, but if he did, I'd be kinda tempted to smoosh them on your face."

Sam

"Gee, thanks," Sam smirked, giving her a shove away.

As they rounded the corner of what Sam presumed the garage, they spotted the campfire where the man sat with a cannister.

"You must be Sam and Faith!" he stood to greet them, holding out a hand to Sam, "Tom Jeffries."

"Nice to meet you. And thanks for all the trouble," Sam nodded sincerely.

Faith

Faith smiled politely, ignoring the quick glance that Tom did of her chest.

"Thanks," she echoed, looking around.

Sam

"Come! Sit! Have some cold stuff," Tom indicated the cannister before pouring them some cups of water.

"Oh no, we don't want to put you out," Sam insisted, sitting down in front of the fire and pulling Faith into his lap.

"Nonsense, nonsense. Freshest water you'll ever taste, this. Go ahead!" Tom handed them each a cup.

Faith

Faith took the cup, fingers dancing along the rim, before she took a sip.

"Thanks."

Sam

Sam nodded, also taking a drink.

"Yeah, thanks. So Tom..."

"Yeah?"

"What do you do for a living? I mean you seem pretty..."

"Cut off from civilisation?"

"Yeah, that," Sam mused.

"Farming mostly. But I get a share of me brother's earnings on our parent's old farm. Also a bit of motoring, which is why I've ot the belts and gear in me shed..."

Faith

Faith leant back into Sam, feeling sleepy from the warmth of the fire.

"Sounds interesting."

Sam & Dean

"Yeah, it does," Sam nodded, "it sounds very... freeing."

He looked up as Dean's footsteps came up from behind.

"All done. Let's go," he rubbed his hands together.

"I think Faith's falling asleep," Sam told him softly.

"Come, sit and have a drink!" Tom offered, "at least until the lady finds her feet again."

"Fresh water," Sam held up his cup.

Dean rolled his eyes, but he was actually pretty thirsty and they didn't really have anything but Holy water in the car..."

Faith

"Faith's awake," Faith murmured sleepily.

She rested her head against Sam's chest, her breath warm on his neck.

Dean & Sam

"Not for long by the sound of it," Dean's eyebrows rose.

He gratefully took a cup of water and sat in a triad with them.

"I guess a little break won't hurt."

"Your car?" Tom asked him.

"Yes," Dean nodded with a smile, glad to talk about his favourite subject, "got her from my Dad once I got my license."

"I bet she burns the gas a bit."

"Oh yeah..."

While they were talking, Sam suddenly felt his eyes getting heavy...

Faith

Faith's hands, which had been wrapped amongst Sam's, slowly lost their grip, and she relaxed completely, surrendering to sleep.

Dean & Sam

Dean was so intent on talking about his beloved Chevy, he didn't even notice Sam and Faith falling asleep.

"Yeah we were in this crash going on... must be three or four years ago now. A semi slammed right into the side, almost killed all of us. Our Dad died after that and I spent the following few weeks rebuilding her. Took a lot of work and elbow grease, but she's back and better for it and that's all that matters."

"Hear hear!" Tom toasted him, Dean grinning and having another drink.

Faith

Faith bit down harder on the gag, clenching her eyes shut for the hundredth time.

Her hands formed weak useless fists behind her, chained around a pole, and her thighs were stained with blood. Her pants had disappeared sometime while she was out of it.

But still, he would never hear her scream.

Dean

Dean's eyes opened to some bright light reflecting off of something... reflective. When he went to sit up he felt it. Everything. The bag ties on his wrists and ankles, and the gag. Groaning as he set his head down again trying to rid it of the dizziness, he took a few deep breaths to try and remember where he was.

Oh, crap.

Opening his eyes again to find the reflective surface, he felt a bit of relief when he saw that it was glass. And not just glass, broken glass.

Faith

Faith jumped as he fired a gun at her feet.

"It's ok," Tom said, his smile mocking. "I'm not gonna kill ya just yet. We got more games to play, you see."

Dean

Dean had himself free in no time, and stood on some shards of glass to see out the window.

He could see the campfire setting, and his car off to the side. It was a lot darker out, which meant it wouldn't be long until sunrise. He'd been out for hours.

Cringing as he moved, he made his way to the door. Of course, it was locked.

"Asshole," he breathed, knowing he wouldn't be strong enough to break it down as he usually would.

He went back to the window and looked out again, before taking the glass slots out one by one and putting them aside. Once he'd made a big enough hole, he pulled himself through and fell to the ground, landing on his shoulder.

He coughed as he got his breath back, before pulling himself to his cut feet again. If Tom was anywhere around, he needed to arm himself. So first stop - the impala trunk.

Faith

Faith took a deep breath, gripping the pole against her back with her hands and hoisted her legs off the ground, landing two well placed kicks on Tom's face, one after the other.

"BITCH!" he yelled, recoiling from the blows.

Dean

Dean stopped, mid track to the impala when he heard the yell.

"Faith?" he breathed.

He changed course and headed to the shed diagonally opposite. Falling into solider mode from five metres out, he didn't make a sound as he crept up to a missing slot in the wall and peered through.

He squinted as his eyes adjusted to the dim flourescent light inside, spotting Faith immediately. He looked her over incredulously, never having seen her look so bad in his life. Unable to dwell on it, his eyes caught movement to the right. And there he saw Tom with a rifle, reloading it.

"What the...?" he whispered to himself.

Faith

"You'll pay for that, girlie," Tom sneered, cocking the rifle as he approached her.

"You know what? I think I want to hear you scream."

He ripped the gag from her mouth, only to be greeted with a face full of blood.

"You never will," Faith replied evenly.

Dean

Dean cringed, holding his breath for a moment, trying to decide what to do. Any other time he'd barge in, snatch the rifle and land a few in the guy's head on the principle alone. Considering the current circumstances in that a) he could hardly walk and b) he probably couldn't even lift the rifle let alone shoot straight with it, it probably was best to shoot first and act Rambo later.

Which meant getting back to the impala.

At the same time, he wasn't sure he should leave Faith any longer. While his mind was racing, he suddenly realised how dizzy he felt at the same time. And then a random thought suddenly came to him -

"Sammy?" he said to himself, turning to look around the yard.

Knowing he really didn't have the time to launch a full scale search before Faith became any worse off, he instead headed back to the impala. Finally there he went to pop the trunk, his eyes catching sight of something on the ground in front of the car.

Losing sight of his objective and walking around to the front of the car, he cringed further when he realised it was just about everything removable from under the hood - minus the engine intself.

"Holy crap," he ran his fingers through his hair, looking back towards the shed Faith was in.

Faith

Tom grabbed the back of Faith's hair and pulled her head back, and she bit the inside of her cheek as her head hit the pole. Her vision blurred slightly.

"Not a smart move, girlie," he said, before releasing her head roughly.

Faith waited until he was right in front of her, then slammed her forehead against his, almost grinning as he fell back.

Dean

Dean finally made his way to the trunk, knowing he had to end this as soon as possible. Luckily, the first thing that had gone right, Tom hadn't thought to look under the bags of clothes in the back. Dean looked over his menagerie of weapons, before selecting a loaded pistol to strap into his belt, the dagger he sometimes kept under his pillow, and his crossbow.

Armed up but needing two hands to carry the crossbow, he left the trunk up and made his way back to the shed Faith was in. He checked through the hole again to make sure they were still there, before moving around to the back where he was sure he'd seen a door.

Faith

"That smarts," Tom said, getting to his feet.

"This will be worse, though."

He aimed the shotgun at her chest.

Faith struggled in her chains.

Dean

"I wouldn't do that if I were you."

Dean had appeared at the back of the room, behind Faith and off to the right, concealed in shadow. When he stepped forward into the light, the could see the aimed crossbow.

"Now where the hell'd you get that, you little son of a bitch?" Tom snarled.

"None of your damn business. But if you back way now, I might just let you live."

Faith

"Bet I could shoot her before you got one off," Tom said to Dean.

"Wouldn't count on it," Faith spoke up. "He's got killer reflexes. Like a cat."

She had pushed one hand behind her back and was holding onto the pole as leverage, trying to break the chain of the handcuffs. She heard the clink and grinned slightly.

"Ah," she said. "Now, where the hell are my pants?"

Dean

Dean saw Tom's expression change at Faith's sudden freedom, and before he could raise the rifle to shoulder height Dean fired the crossbow.

The arrow landed in Tom's shoulder, and while he recoiled Dean threw the empty crossbow aside and pulled out his pistol. He rushed to Faith's side, ignoring the pain in his feet.

"You ok?" he asked, a hand on her shoulder.

Faith

"Couple of county lines over from ok, but I'll survive," Faith told him. "Thanks."

She looked around.

"Now, where the hell are my pants?"

She stopped short, then looked back to Dean, eyes faintly worried.

"Where's Sam?"

Dean

"I don't know," Dean shook his head, pointing to some clothes on the floor nearby.

"You shouldn't have done that, son," Tom sat up, struggling to aim his rifle.

Dean looked back, before hobbling over to him and aiming his pistol downward.

"Where's my brother?" he demanded, eyes on fire.

"Go screw yourself."

Dean clicked the gun off safety.

"Where's my brother?"

Faith

Faith made her way over to her clothes and dressed quickly, before returning her attention to Dean.

"I'd tell him," she said, folding her arms over her chest.

"Because he gets trigger happy."

Dean

Tom cackled, and Dean fired a round at the man's left leg.

"F***ing prick!" Tom screamed, grabbing at his leg as Dean aimed higher.

"Where's my brother?" he demanded a third time.

"Somewhere you ain't gonna find," Tom snarled.

Faith

Faith bent down and ripped the bolt from his shoulder, while Tom let out a scream of pain.

"See, thing is," she said, voice dangerous. "He's trigger happy and a good shot too. But me? I prefer slow torture. Pretty good at it too, if I do say so myself."

She stuck her finger into the wound from the arrow and he yelled again.

"So, you better make with the talking."

Dean

"You heard the lady," Dean said, annoyed at the pistol starting to shake through his pain.

"F*** YOU!"

Dean fired again, straight into Tom's hip joint.

"Next one goes between the eyes!" he shouted angrily as he aimed.

Faith

"You won't... find him... in time," Tom said through pained breaths.

Faith grabbed his shoulders and picked him up, throwing him down against a workbench, one hand reaching for the closest tool.

"Wrong answer, buttercup," she said, lifting up the screwdriver. "Now, I've just had some very unpleasant couple of hours, so let's see if I can't repay the favour, huh?"

With that, she stabbed him through the hand, pinning him against the wood.

Dean

"He's not gonna talk, Faith," Dean raised an eyebrow.

Faith

"He's all yours, Dean."

Faith stepped back from the table and spotted her shoes, not too far from the bench.

Dean

Tom looked from Faith to Dean, seeing Dean's eyes shine. His eyes widened just as Dean pulled the trigger.

Job done, Dean went to retrieve his crossbow, and headed for the back door again.

Faith

Faith zipped her boots and followed Dean out the door.

"Ok, where were you?" she asked, eyes skimming the compound. "Coz I wasn't out for very long, so he couldn't've gotten Sam very far."

Dean

Dean slid the pistol back into his belt as he walked towards the impala.

"In there," he pointed to the shed he'd come from.

"But you must have been out for at least a couple of hours, look what the asshole did to my car!"

He indicated the pieces on the ground in front of it, before going back to the trunk and throwing in the crossbow.

Faith

"Yeah, but he was having his own fun with me when I woke up," Faith said with a grim smile.

She scratched her head.

"Can you get it back together? I can look for Sam while you get started, if you give me a weapon."

Dean

"Yeah, I just need something to kneel on," Dean revealed his glass- laden feet to her for the first time.

"And some pliers eventually..."

He looked around for a crate or something similar, spotting a spanner instead and heading for that knowing he'd need it.

Faith

"Oh, crap."

Faith looked around, then head into the shed, grabbing every tool she could find and bringing them back out to Dean.

"Alright, I'll get you something..."

She went back into the shed and found an milk crate.

"This do?"

Dean

"It'll have to," Dean insisted, heading back to the trunk.

He pulled out Sam's Taurus and a dagger, then hobbled around to hand them to her.

"Here," he said as he passed them over, "bring him back."

The last words almost didn't make it out, but rather than dwell on it he trned to pick up a car part and the tool needed to replace it.

Faith

"Always will."

Faith turned and headed out further into the site, looking around for hints. She couldn't see anymore covered shelter, so she head up the closest hill.

"SAM?!" she called out.

Dean

Dean went straight into repairing the part, trying not to think about the prospect of her returning alone.

Sam

Sam's eyes inched open, but he didn't see anything before he felt the pain in his wrists.

Yelling out in pain, his eyes shot open at the sound of vicious dogs that suddenly started barking and growling just a few feet in front of him. Only then did he notice his surroundings.

He was in what looked like a cave, or some kind of bunker underground. The breaking cages that held the dogs were about three feet in front of him, close enough for the hungry canines to smell the blood trickling from his wrists. His wrists, pinned to the cave wall with long nails, were held in place with thin pieces of wire. Apart from the heavy drugs still in his system, that was all that was holding him there.

Taking a few deep breaths, he squeezed his eyes shut to get his bearings, then focused on his right wrist. Using his telekinesis to the best of his ability, he began trying to pull the nail out. Finding out it was a lot longer than he thought, it finally clanged to the ground by his feet about a minute and a half later.

The second one didn't come out any easier, but once it was free he was able to pull his wrists out from the wire. Cradling them and stumbling backwards, he leant against the wall to keep as far from the dogs as possible. Seeing that the cage doors were almost completely detached from the hinges, he headed straight for the trapdoor at the top of the only visible stairscase, and rushed to push it upward with his left shoulder.

On the third heave, he managed to break it open. As he climbed out he saw that it had been held down with both a rock and an old rusted bolt. No more time to dwell on it, he quickly closed it again and collapsed on it to hold it down as the cages finally broke and the dogs made for the trapdoor in one second flat.

He stay laying there, breathing heavily, knowing he couldn't move or risk letting them have him for... breakfast? The sun was just rising, and it was already brighter than the faint firelight torches had been in the cave.

Faith

Faith stopped, tilting her head slightly, thinking she heard something.

"SAM?!" she yelled.

Sam

Sam looked up at the sound of her voice, careful to keep the brunt of his weight on the door.

"Faith?!" he called, voice probably too raspy to be heard.

In a final desperate attempt to be heard, he squeezed his eyes shut and focused on her, using his telepathy to try and direct her to where he was.

Faith

Faith tilted her head slightly, then headed off in the direction Sam told her to go in.

"Sam?!"

Sam

Spurred on by her voice being closer, Sam tried the telepathy thing again. But his energy was almost completely drained already, and finally he couldn't even lift his head to see if he was coming.

Faith

Faith closed her eyes for a second and focused on what Sam was sending, then opened her eyes, heading determinedly in that direction.

She squinted, seeing him in the distance and broke into a run.

Sam

"Faith?" Sam's voice croaked as he felt her getting closer.

He tried to push himself up, only able to lever up his torso but keeping his thighs on the trapdoor.

Faith

"It's ok, I'm coming."

Faith stopped for a second, then charged off to where she could see him faintly. She reached him quickly.

Sam

"Faith," he smiled faintly, grabbing hold of her ankle when she got close enough.

Faith

"Hey cutie."

Faith bent down and touched his arm gently.

"You ok?"

Sam

"Not even close," Sam choked for a second, trying to sit up further.

"Hear those dogs?"

Faith

Faith paused for a second.

"Yeah... that's not a good sign. Come on, let's get you out of there."

Sam

"No, no, bad idea," Sam insisted, unable to use his arms to push her off.

"My weight's the only thing holding them down, if I move they're gonna come crashing through and they've already got my scent."

Faith

Faith paused, then pulled Sam's gun from her belt.

"Here."

Sam

Sam stared at the gun with a gulp, knowing he wouldn't be able to shoot them himself.

"Think you can handle it? There's at least four of them," he asked, after exposing his wrists to her.

Faith

Faith nodded, angrier about the situation, and glad that Dean had disposed of Tom.

"Alright. I can do it."

Sam

"Ok," Sam nodded, closing his eyes and taking a few deep breaths.

"Ready?"

Faith

"As I can be."

Faith got ready to shoot.

Her bottom half was uncomfortably sore.

Sam

Sam took another moment to prepare himself, then without thinking about it, rolloed quickly off the door.

The dogs broke through the wooden trapdoor at full force, coming out two at a time. The first one spun and came straight toward Sam...

Faith

Faith fired off two shots into the first one, before landing the next shot in the second dog.

She barely had time to aim when the next two came out, and she shot the one going for Sam, but was too late to aim for the next one, so she kicked it swiftly in the side, sending it flying against a trunk of a nearby tree. It crumpled to the ground.

Sam

Sam was gasping for breath again, but finally collapsed down onto his back when the threat was gone.

From the dogs, anyhow.

"What happened?" he asked, eyes closed.

Faith

"Drugged. Tortured. The usual."

Faith shifted uncomfortably, wanting nothing more than to lay down and not be wearing pants, after the damage that had been done.

She ripped the bottom of her shirt, making two long strips, then bent to bandage Sam's wrists.

"Stupid question, but you ok?"

Sam

"I will be," Sam said between breaths, nodding.

He let her tie off his wounds, then sat up again.

"Have you found Dean?" he asked, fear evident in his voice.

Faith

"Yeah, he's working on putting the car back together."

Faith touched Sam's forehead lightly.

"The guy is all sorts of dead though. Brightside?"

Sam

"Putting the car back together?" Sam frowned, relief obvious on his face that Dean was ok.

Faith

"Yeah, the guy pulled everything short of the engine out of it."

Faith shrugged.

"Guess he had some time to kill. Not as much fun torturing someone when she's passed out, I guess."

Sam

"Wow. I bet he's pissed," Sam frowned.

He looked around for a moment, not seeing anything on the horizon.

"How did you find me?" he asked.

Faith

"My keen sense of direction. Well, that and I can kinda sense people who I have a connection with."

Faith shrugged.

"Was wandering around and then... I don't know. I just knew. Like you were telling me or something."

Sam

"Great," Sam nodded, decidedly not mentioning his telepathic calls.

He struggled onto his knees, and finally managed to stand up.

"Do you remember which way you came from?" he asked, looking around aimlessly.

Faith

"Yep."

Faith helped him stand, and she put an arm around his waist, supporting him.

"Ow. I wish I hadn't put my pants on, actually."

Sam

"What?" Sam asked, trying not to put the brunt of his weight on her, but also not having much of choice and knowing that she could handle it.

Faith

"Nevermind," Faith said, not wanting to upset Sam when he was injured.

"Just in a bit of pain, is all."

Sam

Sam coughed - a reaction to the dust well and truly lodged in his throat - but tried to keep his speed up. It wasn't long until they could see the property in the distance.

"He must have really wanted me out of the way," his voice croaked, pausing for a moment.

Faith

"Maybe you seemed like the most threatening."

Faith held onto his side, supporting him as they walked.

"Apparently I was the least threatening."

Sam

"Thank God for stereotypes?" Sam suggested, looking down at her dolefully.

Faith

"Guess so."

Faith glanced up at him.

"I'll feel a lot better when we're back in civilisation."

Sam

"Yeah, same," Sam agreed, starting to move again.

"But I guess it might take a while, with the car and all."

Faith

"Yeah."

Faith was silent for a moment.

"I mean, you have to appreciate the genius of the whole plan, really. Don't get me wrong, he was a psycho, but, he put the pl in plan."

Sam

"Yeah, I guess," Sam agreed solemnly.

"Makes you wonder if he's done it before."

Faith

"Wouldn't surprise me. He was way too organised, you know?"

Faith touched her jaw gently, a large purple bruise already starting to show.

Sam & Dean

Sam gave her a sympathetic look.

They made it back to the yard around five minutes later and headed for the car.

"Hey," Sam greeted, a little off key.

"Sammy?" Dean looked up.

He immediately hobbled over and gave his brother a hug.

"You ok?" he demanded, after letting go.

"Yeah, just my wrists. I'll be fine," Sam indicated how he couldn't use his hands.

Dean nodded.

"How about you?"

"Nothing, just my feet," Dean replied absently, getting back to working on the car, "this is going to take me another couple of hours, so I don't kow if you guys want to risk trying to find something to eat around here..."

Faith

"If we find something in tins, I suppose that will be relatively safe."

Faith looked at Sam.

"Do you want to wait here and rest a bit? I can go."

Sam & Dean

"Yeah, ok," Sam nodded, "just be careful."

"Dude's out of commission," Dean reiterated.

"Who says he works alone?" Sam shrugged.

Dean gave him a look, looked at Faith, then continued what he'd been doing in unnerving silence.

"Don't go too far, ok?" Sam insisted.

Faith

"Yeah," Faith said, then leaned over to kiss Sam's cheek. "I'll be the one screaming for life."

And on that note, she turned and hobbled away, walking as though she'd been riding a horse, heading for another shack in the distance.

Sam & Dean

Sam watched her leave, waiting until she was out of earshot.

"Dean?"

"Yeah?" he looked up, something 'clunking' under the hood.

"What happened to her?"

Dean looked across at where Faith was about to disappear inside, then returned his attention to the car.

"You shouldn't ask me."

"Did he rape her?" Sam asked outright.

Dean hesitated, then kept working.

"I'm not sure he even got that far."

Faith

Faith ducked under a cobweb, then stopped at the sight in front of her.

A fair few cars sat in the shed, number plates from all different states.

"What the..."

Dean & Sam

"Damnit!" Dean cursed as something else hit the ground.

"Need any help?" Sam offered, knowing he couldn't really do anything.

"What you under a hood? You can't even high five let alone fit a carb anyway."

Sam shrugged, and settled to watching the direction ha Faith had gone in.

Faith

Faith looked through the box of photos she'd found, disgusted but enthralled at the same time.

"Ok."

She picked up the video camera and looked through it, pressing play, watching in horror as she saw a family on a beach, happily building sandcastles. She frowned as the scene changed to Tom approaching the family, telling them he could help them out with their car trouble... then back to his camp, offering them fresh water.

Stomach churning, she fast forwarded the video until she came to the scene she had been dreading. The impala coming into the gas station, and Sam, Dean and herself all getting out and going inside. Then it cut to him offering to help them with his car trouble.

She suddenly had the overwhelming urge to vomit as she watched what he did to each of them while they were passed out.

Faith numbly put the camera down, and forced herself to continue looking for food.

Finding a few tins and a can opener, Faith took them back outside, still walking gingerly.

Sam & Dean

"She's back," Sam announced when he saw her in te distance.

Dean looked up, but again went back to what he was doing.

"How did it go?" Sam asked when she got closer, wanting to get up and help but again knowing he'd be of no use.

Faith

"What? Oh, yeah, some tinned stuff."

Faith set the cans down for a second, unnerved by what she had seen.

Sam

"That'll do," Sam shrugged, noticing after a moment that she seemed a little... off.

"Did something happen?" he asked her.

Faith

Faith glanced up at Sam, debating whether or not to tell him what she found.

"Not really."

Dean & Sam

"A few more decomposing corpses maybe?" Dean suggested.

Sam pulled a face, "gross."

"There was quite a few of them where I found her," Dean added, "all stun up on the walls like trophies, half their insides on the outside."

Faith

"Yeah," Faith said, making a face. "I remember."

She paused, before adding, "He filmed it all."

Dean & Sam

The brothers both looked up.

"What do you mean?" Sam asked, neiter of them moving.

Faith

"What he did to us, what he did to the others."

Faith looked at the floor.

Sam & Dean

"So he filmed himself nailing me to the wall?" Sam frowned.

"Mine would have been boring," Dean sniffed a little, "I just woke up tied up."

Sam hesitated, then looked up at him.

"As far as you know," he added grimly, making Dean stop and look towards Faith.

Faith

Faith was staring intently at her shoes, feeling increasingly like she needed a shower. And to throw up. Either one. Both, would be good.

"I guess he didn't get to you before you woke up."

Dean & Sam

Dean looked between her and Sam again, before shuddering and getting on with his work.

"It's over, Faith," Sam said to her reassuringly, " know you'll get through whatever it was, you always do."

Faith

"I know," Faith said, giving him a small smile.

"Just... you know. A little confronting to watch it."

Dean & Sam

"If it's not fit to hand over as evidence to what happened to the souls that died here, burn it," Dean's voice came from under the hood.

"We should give them proper burials Dean," Sam said sullenly.

Dean looked up again.

"Do I look like I'm fit to be digging six foot graves right now? Better yet, do you?" Dean scorned.

Sam sighed, shaking his head.

"Didn't think so," and Dean got back to work.

Faith

"I would, but my va... I'm a little sore."

Faith focused on opening the tins.

Sam & Dean

"And it wouldn't be fair," Sam insisted.

"Maybe we should just salt and burn the bones?"

"Again, Sam!"

"We should at least make some sort of effort! We don't want this area to turn into vengeful-spirit-central."

"We don't?" Dean raised an eyebrow.

"Dean, it's cruel," Sam turned on the puppy eyes, "they don't deserve it and you know it."

Faith

"He's probably right," Faith said quietly.

"I mean, from what I saw, there's gonna be a lot of pissed people floating about here."

Sam & Dean

"Tortured souls looking for vengence," Sam agreed.

"They have vengence! I killed the bastard! What else can we do other than get rid of their bodies?"

"Dean... tha's kinda the point," Sam talked slowly, "we need to do it so they on't haunt the place."

"Again, why not? It's not like anyone's going to come out here anyway. And we're never going to find them all, I mean where the hell were you?"

"In a cave, probably an old mining pathway," Sam shrugged.

"There we go. There could be hundreds of those out here."

Faith

"He also raises a good point."

Faith looked back and forth between the brothers.

"I mean, if it gives you peace of mind, I can go search them out."

Dean & Sam

"I'll get peace of mind when we get the hell out of here," Dean snapped, reaching down for another part.

"But that won't be for a while, will it?" Sam pointed out.

"Two hours. Maybe three," Dean replied, "if you think you can find them by then, go for your life. Or theirs. Or their death, whatever."

Faith

"Either that or some incredibly painful and bloody sex," Faith said casually.

She stood up.

"Guess it's body hunting."

Sam

Sam stood with her.

"Think you can carry the salt and fuel?" he asked.

Faith

"Yeah," Faith replied.

She glanced at him.

"If your hands are too sore, you don't have to come..."

Sam

"My hands are numb, they're just too weak," Sam shrugged.

"But my eyes are fine."

Faith

"Ok."

Faith put her arm around his waist as they walked.

Sam

Sam gave her a kiss on the forehead as they walked.

"Thanks for doing this," he said softly.
