Avery linked arms with Lo, giggling at something her friend had said as they walked together, steps in sync.
"Whatever," Avery said, shaking her head. "So wrong. You are wronger than wrong. You're the wrongest!"
Lo snorted. "You have to start paying attention in class, you loser. That's not a word."
"Your face isn't a word!"
"Face off!"

"Avery's back," Trent commented to Josh, glancing over at the two girls.
Josh shrugged. "Apparently."
"You're going to be nice, aren't you?" Trent asked cautiously. "I mean, I know you didn't exactly, um, agree with... you know. But like... she's just been through... be nice, ok?"
"I wasn't trying to be mean, Trent, I was just... ok, I was a little jealous. But I'm not now. I'm ok. I'm supportive. I'm a good friend," Josh said, nodding. "Or I'm going to try and be. It's just... ok, like, think of if it was Libby. You'd be understandably upset."
Trent was silent for a moment. "I guess. But just... be gentle."
"I will."
