You did what now?

Isaac and Nikki

"Hey Mom?"

Diana looked up to see Isaac there with Nikki. She wasn't really sure that she liked Nikki all that much, but her empathy did tell her that she and Isaac loved each other dearly, so she didn't say anything. She remembered all too well the reaction to her well-known dislike of Faith when she and Zac had been dating and had no desire to repeat the experience.

"Hi honey," she said.

"Can we talk to you and Dad for a minute?"

"Sure. Your Dad's in the study."

"Okay."

"You're not going to tell me to expect another grandchild are you?"

"What?" Isaac looked started. "Uhh no..."

"Oh good," Diana looked relieved. "I love having grandkids, but I really wish I had a few more sons and daughters in law to go with them."

Nikki and Isaac glanced at each other and Nikki hid a smile.

"C'mon, dear," Diana said to Nikki. "We'll wait in the lounge room for the men folk."

Nikki chuckled and followed Diana out to the lounge. Isaac knocked on the study door.

"Hey, Dad?"

Walker

"Yes Isaac?" his father called, putting his glasses down onto the paperwork he was looking over and making his way toward the door.

He smiled when he opened it.

"How are you, Isaac?"

Isaac

"I'm good, good," Isaac replied with nervous cheerfulness. "Hey umm, Nikki and I were hoping we could talk to you and Mom? Mon's already in the lounge with Nikki."

Walker

Walker hesitated but nodded.

"Sure. Just let me finish something up first."

He went back to his desk, checked the paperwork he'd just put down, and sent off a pager message. After quicky doing that he followed his son down to the lounge where the ladies waited.

"Sorry I took so long," he rubbed his hands together, taking a seat next to his wife.

Isaac

"That's okay," Isaac said. "Umm, well, the reason why we wanted to talk to you is because we wanted you to be the first to know. Nikki and I got married."

He glanced at his watch.

"About an hour ago, actually."

Walker

Diana's eyebrow rose, and Walker tilted his head a little.

"You... eloped?" he sounded confused.

Isaac and Nikki

"Ahh, yes," Isaac nodded.

"We just decided we wanted to get married, so we did," Nikki added.

Walker

"...Without telling anyone?" Walker added.

Isaac and Nikki

"Umm, well, yes," Isaac admitted. "It was kinda spontaneous."

Nikki looked decidedly uncomfortable.

Walker

"Obviously," Diana commented.

Walker spared her a pained glance, but turned back to his son.

"Congratulations, the both of you," he nodded with a smile.

"While our reactions might not be what you hypothesised, you'll understandably have to forgive us for the shock factor."

Isaac and Nikki

"Thank you," Nikki said.

"Yeah... we kinda realised after vows had been exchanged that perhaps sharing the news with our families would be, umm... a little awkward," Isaac replied. "So, yeah, I'm actually impressed it went so well."

Walker

"Do your parents know, dear?" Diana aske Nikki.

"What will happen with your living arrangements?" Walker asked Isaac at the same time.

Isaac and Nikki

"We thought we'd live here until we found our own place," Isaac said. "Nikki's place is a little small, and we think it's bugged anyway, so yeah."

"My parents don't know yet. They're in Florida. I was going to give them a call tonight," Nikki added.

Walker

"That's fine," Walker nodded.

"You don't think you should... go see them?" Diana refraned from using the word 'teleport' so as not to scare Nikki.

Isaac and Nikki

"Florida isn't exactly next door," Nikki pointed out. "I'd like to do it in person, but I also want to tell them today."

"Well, umm," Isaac started, then hesitated.

He had told her about teleportation, but she had never actually been teleported before so...

"What?"

"We could always, uhh, teleport."

"We can?"

Walker

"True," Walker nodded as Diana held her tongue.

"We've got some very powerful teleporters in our midst, that can easily travel cross country. And for those less skilled we've developed amplifiers. If you'd like to go and see your parents we can assuredly sort something out."

Isaac and Nikki

"Oh!" Nikki exclaimed. "Oh, that's good. I didn't want to delay telling them, even though y'know, this is kinda, face-to-face news. Hey, this is awesome. You aliens rock."

Isaac chuckled.

Walker

Walker smiled, holding himself back from going into a responsibility lecture on the privacy of alien issues, etc.

"How soon would you like to leave?" he asked.

"Not that we're trying to get rid of you," Diana quickly added.

Isaac and Nikki

"Oh, well, I guess whenever we've finished," Nikki replied.

"We have said what we came here to say," Isaac said. "So, yeah, I guess, unless you want us to hang around and chat some more, we should probably finishing making the rounds."

Walker

"Ok," Walker nodded and stood.

"If there's others you want to speak to in Tulsa... your brothers might be a good start... I'll call Rick and organise transport."

Isaac and Nikki

"Thanks Dad," Isaac replied appreciatively.

"I'm never been teleported before," Nikki mulled over. "It doesn't hurt or anything?"

"Naw. One second you're here, the next you're there. It's a breeze."

Walker

"Without even making a breeze," Walker mused as Diana also stood.

"I'll call Rick right away and let you know when he's free."

Isaac and Nikki

"Thanks," Isaac said again.

He grinned at Nikki and squeezed her hand. Nikki smiled back.
