"Your mom said you might be here."
Avery turned around, too lost in her own head to have sensed JD approaching behind her.
"When did...?"
"This morning," JD replied, sitting down next to her and pulling her gently into his arms. "I'm jetlagged, hungry and in need of a hug from my girl."
Avery let herself fall back into his embrace, turning her face up to look at him.
"We don't have to talk, that's not why I came," he assured her.
She nodded and laced her fingers through his. "I know. And I will... eventually. I'm just not ready right now."
"Understandable," JD replied. "You're staying at Taylor's?"
"Yeah," she answered. "I could ask if - "
"All good, I have a hotel. Well a room. Not a whole hotel," JD smiled.
She nodded again, then rested her head back against his chest, closing her eyes tiredly. "I'm exhausted."
"Just sleep, beautiful girl. I'll take care of you."
