Faith opened the door to the motel room, breathing a little heavier from her run. She brushed her hair from her eyes as she entered the room.
"Hey Sam?" she called out.
Sam
"Yeah! Just a sec!" Sam called from the bathroom.
A moment later the toilet flushed, some water ran in the sink, and he came out wiping his hands on a small towel.
Faith
"Hey, am in need of Dr Sam."
Faith indicated the cut in her arm.
"Ran into this nasty looking demon. It's dead, but poor Faith sustained a flesh wound."
Sam
"Poor Faith indeed," Sam teasing with a grin, throwing the towel over his shoulder and looking through his bag for his medkit.
It had been getting quite a workout, so there was no sense in leaving it in the impala anymore.
"Ah ha!" he said when he found it.
He went through it for some gauze and antiseptic, then indicated for her to sit on the bed in front of him.
Faith
"I do enjoy playing doctor."
Faith moved over to the bed and sat down, twisting her arm slightly so he had better access to it.
Her eyes followed his movements.
Sam
Sam cleaned off the wound and set to bandaging it up.
"So, I'm hoping no demonic puss or anything got into it, seeing as I really don't have the techno crap for that," he mused.
Faith
"Well, if I drop dead from infection later, we can assume that was the cause."
Faith grinned slightly, then looked up and did a slight double take.
Sam
"Yeah, most like," Sam chuckled, glancing up at her.
He hesitated when he saw her face.
"What?" he asked, slowly turning to look over his shoulder.
He froze.
"Hey bro," Dean smirked from where he was slouched against the open doorway.
Faith
Faith was silent, thinking that Dean had either come back or it was the First.
"Well... unexpected, to say the least."
Sam
Sam just remained staring.
"Yeah I know, the whole 'Hell' thing. But what am I gonna do, cry?" Dean shrugged, standing straight and walking over to the kitchen.
He opened the fridge and fetched himself a beer.
Sam's eyes had followed him, but he still hadn't moved.
Faith
Faith's hand curled around the closest object to her, bandages, and she tossed it at Dean's head, watching it fly right through.
"Well, guess that answers that question."
Sam
Sam nearly jumped out of his skin at her sudden movement, falling backwards onto the floor and backing up to the wall.
"What the hell is going on?" he demanded.
Faith
"That would be the First Evil," Faith said, eyes on Dean still.
"Can't take corporeal form, but can just sit and yap at you all night."
She raised an eyebrow.
"So, what's the deal, Dean?"
Sam
Dean grinned.
"Precisely that. I like to do the yapping thing once in a while. And you two look kinda lonely, so I figure if I hang around with you for a while it won't be such a big deal. Besides, need to check up on my geek brother, don't I? Screwing my girl and all."
"You're sure it's not Dean?" Sam's eyes darted between he and Faith.
Faith
Faith shook her head.
"It..." she tried to remember what the Mayor had told her a few years ago. "It's partly Dean. Partly the First."
She looked back at Dean.
"Well, you know, Sam's just so cute and all."
Sam
Sam stood from where he'd been sitting, death glare suddenly centred on it.
"How do we get rid of it?" he demanded, clenching a fist.
"Ooh. Ouch. That on hurt," Dean laid a hand to his heart, offended.
Faith
Faith shrugged.
"I'm pretty sure we're stuck with him until he gets bored. And seeing as he's part Dean... I'm tipping... it could be awhile."
She glanced towards the bathroom.
Sam
"If he's not coporeal is he some ind of spirit or entity?" Sam asked.
"Because then we could use salt or herbs."
"I'm right here you know. In the room. Where I can hear you."
Faith
"I'm not sure... we could try?"
Faith looked at the bathroom again.
"I'm... I'm going to have a shower."
She glanced at Dean.
"And I know you can do the whole... appear wherever you like thing, but you won't be going into the bathroom."
Sam
"See you in five," Dean winked.
"You know, I don't care who you are, if you're Dean - the First - whatever," Sam folded his arms with a scowl.
"But you're not gonna degrade her."
Faith
Faith slipped out of the room then, leaving Sam to argue with Dean... the First... whoever.
She closed the door and turned the water on, careful of her arm as she undressed.
Sam
"Oh I'm not?" Dean's eyebrows rose.
"No, you're not."
"How can it be degrading when I've already seen her naked like twenty times?" Dean asked, confused.
"Because she's with me now," Sam scorned.
Dean smirked.
"Not for long."
And he shimmered out of sight. Sam did a double take for a moment, then frowned.
"DEAN?"
Faith
Faith tilted her head back, letting the water run over her one last moment before she turned and twisted the taps off.
She pulled the curtain back, reaching for her towel when she came face to face with -
"HOLY SH - !"
Sam
"Hey babe!"
Sam was in the door the very next moment.
"DEAN!"
"What?!" Dean demanded, "if you think I'm not gonna take advantage of being in spirit form you are grossly mistaken."
Faith
Faith quickly wrapped a towel around her body.
"Ok. Heart is back to normal rate."
Sam
"See? She missed me!" Dean insisted.
"Dean, GET OUT!"
Faith
Faith pulled the towel tighter around her body.
"Yeah, the naked girl is feeling all self conscious."
Dean
"It's nothing either of us haven't seen," Dean scorned.
"Dean..."
"God what I wouldn't give to be full blooded right now..."
"Dean!"
"Can you blame me?" Dean's eyebrows rose.
"Get. Out!"
Faith
Faith let out a small cry as the towel slipped slightly, before she wrenched it back up.
"Yeah, you have both seen it, but right now, only one of you should be seeing it."
Sam
"Damn straight."
"She means me, dipshit," Sam scorned.
"Fine! I can tell when I'm not wanted," Dean suddenly disappared from the room again.
"Apparently not!" Sam called after him, looking back out into the main room to tr and find him.
No dice.
Faith
Faith dressed quickly, then joined Sam out in the main room.
"He go - oh."
Mayor Wilkins stood in the room, smiling brightly at Faith.
"Well gosh, hi there firecracker."
"What the hell do you want?"
"Hey hey, language, Faith!"
Sam
"Who the heck is this?" Sam looked between them.
Faith
Faith's eyes were on the Mayor, her hands shaking slightly.
"He was an old Boss."
"Well, gosh, I was a lot more than that, Faith. I never thought of you as an employee, you were my daughter," he replied, then looked at Sam.
Sam
"Oh. Ok," Sam quickly put two and two together.
"Great. You're sure there's no way to kill this thing? How did you get rid of it last time?"
Faith
"Well, last time it had a mission, and we sorta... blew up a town. But this time, it seems it's just being annoying," Faith told him.
"Hey," Richard said sharply.
Faith opened her mouth to apologise out of habit, then stopped herself.
"So, this is the new boyfriend?" he asked, looking at Sam again. "I hope he'll treat you better than that ex-husband of yours."
"This is really none of your business," Faith said.
"I am concerned though, about your dealings with his brother."
Sam
"She said. It's none of your business," Sam stepped forward aggressively.
Faith
"Now now," he said, holding up a hand and turning back to Faith. "You keep behaving this way and you're going to get yourself a reputation. Immoral liaisons happening."
"Yeah, plus all the screwing," Faith replied, hands on her hips. "So do you really have a reason for being here, or is this purely to be a pain in the ass?"
"Language," Richard repeated sternly. "It's the end of humanity, Faith, not the end of courtesy. I just wanted to check up on you. And let you know that no one - not even he will love you. Not the way I love you."
Faith shifted uncomfortably.
"I'll always be with you, firecracker, in everything you do."
He shimmered out.
Sam
"Not much of a father figure," Sam frowned once he was gone.
"Not that I'm really one to talk."
Faith
"Yeah."
Faith still felt uneasy.
"Think it'll come back?"
Sam
"Probably," Sam shrugged, moving over to his laptop.
"I'll see if I can find anything online about how to keep it away, just in case."
Faith
Faith flopped down on the bed, laying on her stomach as she watched Sam.
"It's weird, isn't it? Seeing them, I mean."
Sam
"It wasn't them," Sam gulped a little indignantly, starting to check up on his usual sights.
Faith
"No, I know, but like... for a second..."
Faith sat up and moved behind Sam, rubbing his shoulders gently.
Sam
Sam stopped clicking for a moment and sighed.
"Yeah it was," he admitted.
"More because as soon as I saw him, I knew he couldn't stay. It either wouldn't be him or I'd have to get rid of him somehow."
Faith
Faith bent slightly and kissed the back of his neck, before resuming the massage.
"Yeah, it's just... unsettling. And for a moment, you just want to believe that they can stay."
Sam
"Yeah," Sam crossed his left hand over his chest to rest it on her right hand.
He turned to look up at her.
"Are you ok?" he asked, "you were pretty shaken up."
Faith
Faith nodded, leaning down and kissing his nose.
"Yeah, it's just... seeing him again. Kinda freaks me out."
Sam
"Yeah, I know," Sam patted her hand.
He hesitated for a moment, then smiled a little.
"Hug?"
Faith
Faith smiled down at him, before sliding into his lap.
"How can I resist that request?"
Sam
"That's the whole point," Sam smiled, moving back a little for her.
"You can't."
And he enveloped her in a big bear hug.
"Hugs fix everything."
Faith
"No, Sam hugs fix everything," Faith corrected, smiling at him.
She relaxed into his arms.
