"We should never accept free fruit again," Sam shook his head with a laugh, struggling to carry all the melons in his arms and laptop bag as he walked back to the impala.
He put them down to open the trunk, also half full of melon.
Faith
"It really did seem like a good idea when I thought it was going to be like... two."
Faith grinned slightly, stacking the melons she was carrying in her backseat.
"First call of business. We get some vodka."
Sam
"Sounds good," Sam grinned, remembering the egg nog incident of his and Dean's last Christmas together.
He finally poured them all in and closed the trunk.
"You want to stop and get some and I'll get these back to the motel?" he suggested, walking around to the driver's door.
Faith
"Sounds like a plan."
Faith slipped into the drivers seat and started the engine, letting it warm up for a second before heading off in the direction of a bottle shop.
Sam
Sam gunned the impala and headed back for the motel. He reversed his car into the parking spot by the door, and went to open it. Then, armful by armful, he started taking the melons inside.
He was just about finished when he saw Faith's car in the distance.
Faith
Faith's head bopped in time to the music blaring from her stereo. She turned it down as she pulled into the parking lot, still singing along.
She pulled into her parking spot and stopped the car, hopping out and grabbing the vodka.
Sam
"Need elp with the melons?" Sam asked, wiping some sweat from his forehead.
He was down to his wifebeater and jeans, and barefoot.
Faith
Faith looked over at him and licked her lips.
"Yes. I need you to handle my melons."
She grinned wickedly.
Sam
"Isn't that what your bra's for?" Sam smirked, walking past her to her car and starting to gather melons from the back seat.
Faith
Faith grinned, goosing him as she walked past.
"Like your hands better."
She went into the motel room and put the alcohol on the counter.
Sam
Sam chuckled as he filled his arms and walked back into the room where he dumped them onto the bed with the rest. Then he went back for the rest.
Third trip, he had them all.
After closing the door behind him he pulled a chair over to the bed, taking out his pocket knife as he grabbed the nearest melon and cut into it.
Faith
Faith was in the process of filling one melon with vodka.
"Ok, so I know it seems like a lot of melons, but..."
She turned to look at Sam and laughed.
"Yeah, ok, it's a lot."
Sam
"This would keep us going for a month if it stayed fresh," Sam looked over the bed almost sadly.
"Too bad it'll probably go off in three days. What a waste."
Faith
Faith put two of the vodka melons in the fridge, then got started on filling another two.
"Well, they were free," she pointed out. "And I'm sure we'll try our best to get through them."
Sam
"That we will," Sam agreed with a nod.
"Besides, it's probably the healthiest things we've had since we left LA."
He bit off a mouthful of the one he'd been cutting.
Faith
"Yeah, we've really gotta start eating those vegetable things again."
Faith paused.
"And not just in the deep fried sense."
She finished filling the other two melons and put them in the fridge to chill with the others, then moved over to Sam's bed and snagged a piece of watermelon.
Sam
"Yeah, exactly," Sam chuckled.
He cut a few more melons up, cringing a little as he felt his stomach already getting full.
Faith
"And plus, I'm starting to get a little belly, and that's even with all the patrolling I do."
Faith lifted her shirt a little.
Sam
Sam chortled.
"You don't have belly. This is belly," Sam lifted his shirt and patted the... one roll he had."
Faith
Faith grinned and rubbed his stomach gently.
"I like that, it's all cute... or manly?"
She glanced up at him.
"Do you think we have too much sex?"
Sam
Sam frowned a little and tilted his head.
"What makes you say that?" he asked.
Faith
Faith shrugged, fiddling with the knife.
"Nothing really, just an observation."
Sam
"Well..." Sam's face flushed a little as he put his shirt down again.
"I have to admit, I thought this was kinda... tame for your lifestyle?"
Faith
Faith looked up at him and a smile slowly spread across her face.
"Awww."
Sam
"You know what I mean," Sam defended, throwing a bit of melon at her.
"I never really had this kind of relationship with Jessica."
Faith
Faith picked the melon up and ate it, then nuzzled into his neck, breathing light kisses on his skin.
"Well, I never had this kind of relationship with my ex husband, so it's kind of new territory for me."
Sam
"You were married?" Sam's eyebrows rose, shifting a little to get more comfortable.
Faith
"Yeah," Faith said, getting up to retrieve the vodka melons out of the fridge.
"It didn't last long... we were... I just never felt completely comfortable there. We're still friends though."
She handed him a watermelon and took another for herself, curling back up next to him.
Sam
"Do yousee him much?" Sam asked innocently, taking his knife out again to cut some pieces.
Faith
Faith shook her head.
"Oh well on and off. We have a daughter together, and so I spent Christmas with them, but yeah. It's on and off."
Sam
"Oh, ok," Sam nodded, taking a mouthful of melon and chewing thoughtfully.
"At least it didn't end badly for you. There's too much of that going around right now."
Faith
Faith popped a piece of melon in her mouth and chewed, then swallowed.
"Well yeah, I mean, it was always a concern. At least I know you can handle yourself. And I won't break you when I'm... rough."
She grinned slightly.
Sam
"Same to you," Sam smiled a little, "which was always a concern, I must say. You know, me being cursed and all. And everyone around me dying."
Sam hesitated.
"That came off a lot more mopey than it feels, I assure you."
Faith
Faith nodded.
"Well, have died already and been brought back, so not looking to do it again for a long while, I can promise you."
She leaned up and mouthed hot kisses on the back of his neck before turning her attention to the watermelon.
"But no more verging on emo topics. Today is all about vodka and melons. Of the fruit variety."
Sam
"Yes, it is," Sam agreed wholeheartedly, cutting out another chunk of his vodka variant.
He chuckled.
"I have no idea what we're gonna do with the ones we can't eat. Leave them in the room for the cleaner to come across?"
Faith
Faith grinned.
"This is the part where you are glad that I'm your girlfriend, because I always have good ideas. Are you ready?"
Sam
Sam raised an eyebrow, swallowing more melon.
"Hit me."
Faith
"I won't take you literally on that."
Faith ate a bit of watermelon and sat up onto her knees, facing him, with a mischevious glint in her eye.
"We throw them off a roof and watch them go smoosh."
Sam
Sam chuckled, then broke out laughing. When he gathered himself again, he nodded.
"You know, I don't think I'm drunk enough for that."
Faith
"Well, you don't need to be drunk to do it, but I suppose it makes it funnier."
Faith ate more melon.
"You know, I like this. We don't do this enough."
Sam
"What, contemplate what to do with sixty melons?" Sam asked, having another mouthful.
Faith
"No, cutie, being sorta normal. Ok, normal people don't ever have this many melons, but I mean the hanging out thing."
Faith shrugged.
"I just haven't done anything like it in a long while."
Sam
"I tend to do the hanging out thing a lot," Sam assured her.
"I can assimilate you into the lifestyle in no time if you want. You just have to give up patrolling and I have to give up hunting for a while."
There went another mouthful.
Faith
"How long are we talking here?"
Faith ate more melon.
"I do like the sound of normality for awhile. Yeah, sometimes it would be nice to just be a girl."
Sam
"As long as you want," Sam insisted.
"Or a long as we can handle."
Faith
"I kinda like you, you know that?"
Faith grinned then leant up to kiss him softly.
Sam
Sam kissed her back.
"That's funny. I kinda like you too. Imagine that."
Faith
"Think of the possibilities."
Faith ate some more melon, and settled herself back against him.
"You really are tall."
Sam
Sam crunched on some more melon.
"I think it's possible we could take these melons on the roof right now," he said thoughtfully.
Faith
"Awesome."
Faith sat up and rubbed her hands together.
"To the roof for smooshing."
Sam
About twenty minutes later they'd gotten all but a few of the melons (to eat later) onto the roof.
"You do the honors?" Sam indicated for Faith to throw the first.
Faith
"Don't mind if I do."
Faith took a melon and walked back to the railing, peering down. She threw it down, letting out a laugh when it smashed on the pavement.
Sam
Sam followed, throwing one over her head. He giggled a little when he heard the smash, and crawled forward to look for it.
"Messy," he proclaimed.
Faith
Faith laughed and threw another one.
"Glad I'm not going to be cleaning this up."
Sam
"Like water bombs. Only... sticky," Sam chuckled, throwing two more over at the same time.
"They look like eyes!"
Faith
Faith giggled at his excitement, then threw another few down.
"And smooshy."
Sam
"At least-"
Sam cut himself off as he drunenly fell backwards onto his ass.
"At least we're making good use of them. They're not going to waste like they would have!"
Faith
Faith laughed and instead of helping him up, straddled his lap.
"Happy birthday," she whispered.
Sam
Sam tilted his head as he looked up at her.
"Thanks!"
He pulled her down by her shirt and kissed her.
