Tanya picked up the phone and dialed the number before her. She had just gotten back from a meeting with Wayne - sorry, a full blown argument with Wayne - the latest in a long series. But she had finally triumphed and was now going to make a call to gloat - err, chare the good news with someone she knew would appreciate it.
Taylor
"House of Madness, Taylor speaking" Taylor answered the phone, swatting flies away from Ezra's face.
Tanya
Tanya chuckled.
"Hi Taylor Speaking, this is Tanya Speaking. We must be related," she joked.
Taylor
Taylor grinned when he realised who it was.
"Ah, we must! Are you of the VooKoo clan or the Half Beats?"
Tanya
"Hmm, I think I like the Half Beats better," Tanya replied. "So, with that jovility out of the way, I have some marvellous news for you."
Taylor
"Oh you do?" Taylor's eyebrows rose.
"I hope it's something to do with being able to null a six month old's powers."
Tanya
"Umm... no..." Tanya said, a little taken aback, not expecting that response. "Actually I was going to say after harrassing Wayne in his offce to argue - err, I mean 'discuss' Christian having other visitors he's finally caved in."
Curiousity warred with excitement over triumphing over Wayne's stubborn distrustfulness.
Taylor
"You're kidding," Taylor's eyes instantly lit up.
He held the phone aside and yelled in an insect tongue to "SCRAM!" Finally the insects scattered.
"What made him give up finally?" Taylor put the phone back to his ear.
Tanya
"Probably the fact that I'd been going in every day for a week," Tanya replied cheerfully. "Oh, and I irritated his regular visitors and was starting to tick off his secretary too, actually. I was rather enjoying myself actually."
Taylor
"Oh why did you stop?" Taylor chuckled.
"I almost wish I'd been there! So when does it start?"
Tanya
"Whenever you want to make an appointment," Tanya replied. "Probably give it a day or two to make sure the orders go through - I've only just gotten back from his office, and he made the call while I was there, but of course, the admin staff there all need a chance to actually get the orders."
Taylor
"Yeah true," Taylor considered.
"I might try for Monday. Is it limited access, or can I let some other people know?"
Tanya
"Any friends of Christian's who can get placate security," Tanya replied. "You and your family should be no problem."
Taylor
"I was thinking more of his... creator," Taylor hinted, "and the girl that may or may not be his girlfriend."
Tanya
"Ahh," Tanya considered. "That may be harder. They're not exactly in the system, and security is very strict about the visitors allowed in the rehab centre."
Taylor
"That's ok," Taylor insisted, "was just wondering, in case. I'm sure they'll understand."
Tanya
"Yeah," Tanya said, then continued: "So, what's this about wanting to null a six month old's power?"
She raised her eyebrows.
Taylor
"Oh, yeah. We worked out what Ezra's power is," Taylor pulled a face.
"And so far it's been... fun. He has power borrowing."
Tanya
Tanya's eyebrows raised even higher.
"Power borrowing?" she repeated. "My goodness!"
Taylor
"Yeah, exactly," Taylor mused.
"So far it's just anyone within his line of sight. But I swear I was never this bad when I was a baby! This kid has a thing for bugs already. And forget trying to keep things out of his mouth when Ike's around..."
Tanya
Tanya chuckled.
"Sounds like you have your hands full," she said. "And here I was thinking I had it tough needing all of Kit's funiture and toys to be made out of plastic or wood instead of metal."
Taylor
"We'll be fine," Taylor was obviously telling himself at the same time.
"We just have to be extra careful of who he's around, which is the real drama. No tournaments for us for a while."
Tanya
"Now that would be an experience," Tanya mused. "Well, I shall let you go. Just wanted to share the good news about visiting Christian."
Taylor
"Yes, and thank you. Thanks again. It's great news," Taylor reiterated.
"I'm glad you called. Don't be a stranger, ok?"
Tanya
Tanya chuckled.
"Okay," she agreed. "Talk to you later then."
Taylor
"Bye," Taylor grinned, hanging up.
He sighed in frustration as he looked down at Ezra, then moved a small bit of flannel over his eyes as the six month old started giggling playfully.
