Roberto pushed his empty plate away and smiled at Mia, who was still enjoying her dessert.
"Mia?" he asked tentatively.
"Yeah?"
"I've been thinking..."
Mia put down her spoon and looked at Roberto seriously.
"Yes?"
"Well, I think I would like us to be serious about this."
"Okay."
"I know you - well, we - were concerned with the media hounding me, but I mean, that's a part of your life and learning to deal with that is going to be important if you and I ever go any further."
Mia nodded.
"So yeah," then Roberto smiled. "Besides, Mom and Dad are going to be coming down to see me graduate in June, and I think I'd like fo rhtme ot meet you."
Mia laughed.
"So we've reached the 'meet the parents' stage, have we?" she grinned. "In that case, should Iintroduce you to my mother?"
"Oh, umm, sure..."
"She lives in New York, but she and her husband and Rocky -"
"Rocky?"
"My half brother."
"Oh!"
"Well, they come down every summer, so yeah."
"Okay, well, cool," Roberto nodded. "You... you have a brother named Rocky."
"Yeah, my step-father is a fan."
"Ahh."
"He's also my former algebra teacher. Which would be kinda creepy except that I switched schools to go to Xavier's, so yeah, my Mon dating my teacher didn't end up being a huge issue after all."
"Convienent."
"I thought so."
