Just a girl

Written by Nessa

Faith

Breathing heavily, the teenage boy ran down the street, eyes scanning the horizon for somewhere to hide. He saw an alley and changed his course of direction, hoping to get some cover.

"Gave me a pretty good run there," the vampire said, stepping out and cornering him. "Bet the blood's just pumping now. Bet it's hot."

"Don't hurt me," the young boy whimpered.

"Don't hurt you?" the vampire laughed.

"Hey! What's going on?" Faith asked, approaching the pair.

"Help me! Call the police!" the boy pleaded.

"Get out of here, girl," the vampire snarled.

"You guya having a fight?" Faith asked, still playing innocent. "Coz, you know, fighting's not cool."

"Get out of here!" the boy yelled.

"No no, she wants to stay," the vampire said, grinning. "I don't mind a little appetiser."

"You ever heard the expression 'biting off more than you can chew'?" Faith said, walking slowly to the vampire, who looked at her with a confused expression on his face. "Oh ok, um, how about the expression 'Vampire Slayer'?"

"What the hell are you talking about?" the vampire snapped.

"Wow! Never heard of that one? Ok, um, how about 'Oh God, my leg, my leg'?" And with that, Faith stomped down hard on the back of the vampire's calf, the kneecap dislodging from behind.

"Oh God, my leg!" the vampire screamed.

"See, now we're communicating," Faith answered, before throwing him against the wall and staking him. "Well, it's been a long while since I met one that didn't know me. Hey, you should get home."

The boy stared at her. "How did you do that?"

"It's what I do," Faith answered, turning around.

"But you're just a girl!" he protested.

"That's what I keep saying," she said as she left.
