Hunting and Slaying

Written by Nessa and AiMsTeR

Sam

Sam carefully opened the door, letting Faith go through first.

"You're sure you saw it come through this way?" he whispered, giving the dagger he held a tight squeeze.

Faith

"Yeah," Faith whispered back.

She squeezed through the door and stood still for a moment, finding her bearings in the dark.

Sam

"Ok," Sam nodded, leaving the door open about an inch to make sure they weren't in pitch black.

"Let's spread out."

He started making his way to the right, using his fingertips to navigate the outside wall of the abandoned buidling.

"We should see its eyes glowing."

Faith

"Rocking."

Faith headed to the left, eyes adjusting finally to the dark. She stepped over some debris on the ground, scanning the perimeter.

Sam

"Unless of course, it has them closed..." Sam said, mostly to himself.

He stopped for a moment until his purple vision set in, then began moving again.

Faith

Faith ducked under a cobweb, making a face, before she saw what she was looking for.

"Son of a bitch, it's my lucky day," she murmurmered, before jumping on the back of the demon.

Sam

Sam immediately flicked his flashlight on and turned it on the commotion.

Just in time to hear a roar from behind him. Wait, there was more than one...?

He felt something grab him from behind. He managed to throw it off, but in the process dropped the flashlight. Which wouldn't have been so bad if he hadn't lost his purple vision by turning it on in the first place...

The next thing he saw were the beast's glowing eyes inches from his face. He lashed out with a strong kick to its gut, and the next thing he knew... he couldn't even sense where it had gone.

Faith

Faith made an unusual noise as she pulled the head of the demon back and then found herself being bucked off. She flew back and hit the ground.

"Ok. Ow."

She flipped to her feet.

Sam

Sam quickly crawled to where the flashlight as and turned it off, sitting in the dark as he waited for his eyes to adjust again.

It was almost as bad as fighting Gordon in the dark.

"Come on, come on..." he murmured, waiting for its eyes to show again.

Faith

Faith stumbled back before she regained her footing. She struck out with a powerful right hook, then dodged the next blow.

"Ah, sh - "

She jumped, then spun into a roundhouse kick upon landing.

Sam

Sam's eyes searched the darkness madly. He could almost hear the thng breathing, though it was a bit hard over the commotion behind him.

Then he heard a footstep to the left, and looked up. Into its eyes.

He launched the dagger upward as the beast jumped back, but used his telekinesis to dig the blade into its heart no matter how far back it retreated.

As it collapsed to the ground he turned his flashlight on again, and went to retrieve his weapon.

Faith

Faith realised it was too late to dodge, so she folded back into the attack and let herself be tackled to the ground.

"Ow."

She kneed it in the groin, hands reaching for her knife. She stabbed it into the demon's stomach and then slit upwards.

Once it stopped moving, she crawled out from under it.

"Ugh. Gross."

Sam

"I need an aspirin," Sam said, collapsing back onto the floor and covering his eyes with his left hand.

Faith

Faith made her way over to Sam and smiled faintly.

"Well, I need a shower."

She knelt down and touched his cheek.

"Come on, I have some aspirin in the car."

Sam

"Great," Sam managed to pull himself up and get to his feet.

"Are we bothering with the mess or do you just want to light this place up?"

Faith

"Do the pyro thing."

Faith brushed the back of her pants off.

Sam

"Your wish..." Sam began teasingly.

He pulled out a matchbox and fired up a match, throwing it onto the nearest corpse, before doing the same to the other.

"I'll call the fire department in a half hour or so, should be up in flames by then," he said, turning to leave.

Faith

"Hot."

Faith followed him out, brushing dust from her hair.
