Cue the soppy moment

Friday and Eron XV

"Hey," Friday greeted.

Eron looked up from the park bench.

"Hey, he said as Friday sat down next to him. "How are you?"

"Oh, good. Because so much has changed in the last two hours since we saw each other."

Eron chuckled.

"Yeah..."

"So... what's in the box."

"Oh! It's present for you."

"For me? Really? Aww, I'm touched."

"But you can't have it yet."

"Okay..."

"I mean... I'm sorry I'm doing this all wrong," Eron sighed, and closed his eyes trying to get his words together. "I want to ask you something. And you get the present no matter what your answer is but I don't want to give you the present until after because I don't want it to affect your decision. I mean, I don't think it would but I just... want to make sure."

"Okay... go ahead."

"Huh?"

"Eron, are you feeling okay? You're babbling and being confused by simple questions."

"Yeah. Sorry."

Friday looked at him expectantly, an amused expression on her face. Eron took a deep breath, then took her hands. Then changed his mind, and put the box up on the bench, and knelt on the ground and took her hands again.

"Friday, I love you so much. You showed me another side of life I'd only been vaguely aware even existed and filled a hole in my life I didn't know was there. I can't bear the thought of ever loosing you, and I want you to be in my life forever. Friday... will you marry me?"

Friday swallowed hard, her eyes wide.

"I... I..." she stammered, and paused to collect herself. "Eron, I, yes of course. I'd love to marry you."

Eron stood, a huge grin across his face. He leant over and hugged her, and kissed her lips in his gentle manner.

"You have no idea how happy you've just made me."

Friday giggled.

"You have no idea just how happy you've made me. But I thought you wanted to be a paladin of the inner circle."

"I did. But y'know, I've been praying about that, and I don't think God intends for me to be one. And you know what? Ever since I met you that particular ambition has seemed less important."

Friday smiled.

"I never thought anyone would ask me out, let alone want to marry me, so I'm pretty happy right about now."

"That's good," Eron smiled. "Oh, your present."

He reached behind him and retrived the box which he presented to Friday with a smile.

"I know you're not a jewelery person, so I got you these."

Friday shot him a curious look and unclipped the black leather box.

"Oh!" she gasped.

Carefully she pulled out one of the two sais. There were intricate deisgns on the handle which continued up part of the shaft and onto the knuckle. They were masterfully balanced and generally looked and felt amazing.

"They've been imbuded, so it might take a little getting used to."

Friday frowned slightly.

"I thought slayers couldn't use your imbuded weapons."

"It's not that. It's that the imbuement only works for members of the Order of Light," Erona shrugged. "For anyone else they'll behave like ordinary sais."

"Oh."

"They do extra damage, so you'll probably find they stab and punch more effectively. And it will be a noticeable difference. So you'll want to practice with them before you go out patrolling with them, and you'll definitely want to be extra careful when you do practice, okay?"

Friday grinned at him.

"I will, I promise," she said, putting the sai back in it;s little box.

She closed it, then set the box aside.

"They're beautiful, thank you."

Friday leaned forward and kissed him, wrapping her arms around his neck.

"But Eron?"

"Yes, Day?"

"When we get married, I want a ring."

Eron chuckled.
