Phone calls

Faith

Faith smiled her thanks at the waitress who brought her coffee over to her. She'd decided to leave Sam to his own devices this morning, while she went for a run and got some breakfast.

"Hello?"

"Uh, hi. Faith?" came a voice that was oddly familiar.

"Yeah, who's this?"

"It's Robin. Robin Wood."

"Hey, long time no speak," she replied, taking a sip of her coffee. "Heard you checked in at LA?"

"Sort of," Robin told her, chuckling slightly. "I actually came to see what you and Xander were up to, but... you weren't there."

"Yeah, I'm on the road for a bit with a friend. Sorta freelancing, I guess."

"Oh, hey look, I don't want to intrude or anything, but it's been pretty slow around... maybe we could catch up soon?" He sounded hopeful.

Faith smiled slightly, taking another sip of her coffee. "Yeah, maybe. I gotta go though, my phone's about to die. I'll let you know when I'm over your way again."

"Oh um, sure. Hey, it was great talking to you," he said.

"You too."

Faith hung up and rested her chin on her hand, staring pensively into the coffee cup. What was his deal?
