And I Don't Want the Whole World to See Me

Written by Michelle

Duke

Duke sat on his bad in his room.

Ever since his mutation came out - and the gist of it made public knowledge it had been mixed reactions. There was alarm, naturally, after all no one likes the idea that someone might be able to rifle through their memories. But the wosrt of it was that even some mutants were avoiding him. You'd think they'd understand!

In fact, it was the telepaths that sympathised with Duke the most. After all, they were always being accused of invading people's privacy, when the truth was they simply weren't the slightest bit interested in knowing what the average person was thinking about.

There was a knock at the door.

"Duke?"

"Robyn?" Duke frowned.

Robyn opened the door.

"Hey pouty boy," she greeted. "Haven't seen you in weeks."

Duke shrugged.

"Didn't think you'd want to."

"Why?"

"Because."

"Of what?"

"My mutation."

"Psh," Robyn dismissed. "Come on, Dukey-boy. Touch me. I dare you."

Duke looked at her, startled.

"I'm not... you... I might hurt you."

"I'm not scared."

"I'm still not going to touch you."

Robyn shrugged.

"Okay, well, now that that's settled, how about some video games?"

Duke paused, then smiled.

"Okay."
