Hugh slung his bag over his shoulder which contained his few possessions. The dining set he had been creating had already been moved out yesterday, and now it was his turn to leave.
He honestly couldn't believe he was getting out of the rehab centre.
Hugh headed for the lobby just outside of the office, and spotted Christian on his way.
"Hey," he greeted.
Christian
"Hey Hugh," Christian greeted, slipping the file he'd been looking at under his arm.
"Heading out I take it?"
Hugh
"Yeah," Hugh replied.
He felt a little awkward, especially as it was Tanya he was going to live with. She was always visting Christian. Plus Christian had been here since he arrived, and he was still here.
Christian
"Good for you," Christian nodded sincerely.
He was well used to these goodbye speeches by now.
"I hope you make the most of the chance you've been given. And remember what I taught you, too."
Hugh and Tanya
Hugh nodded.
"I don't think I'm likely to forget," he replied seriously.
Then down the hallway came Tanya.
"Ahh, there you are," Tanya smiled. "I knew you must be on your way. Hi Christian."
Christian
"Hey," Christian nodded to her.
"Playing the foster parent again I see."
Tanya and Hugh
Tanya chuckled.
"Some things never change?"
Hugh shifted his weight, feeling a little awkward.
Christian
"I guess that makes us brothers then," Christian mused, putting a hand on Hugh's shoulder.
"Which might mean we'll actually see each other again eventually."
Tanya and Hugh
Hugh paused while Tanya laughed.
"That's true, actually. Hope you guys got on okay then."
"Oh, yeah, sure," Hugh stammered.
Tanya laughed some more.
"C'mon, we should get going..." she hesitated a moment, before looking back at Christian. "I, umm, accepted Leroy's proposal."
Christian
"Oh," Christian nodded.
"Well, congrats. I'm sure you'll have many happy years together. And it'll be good for Kit, too."
Tanya and Hugh
"Thanks," Tanya replied.
She paused, but couldn't really think of anything else to say, so she turned to Hugh:
"Ready to go?"
"Yeah."
"Okay. See you later, Christian."
Christian
"See you next time," Christian saluted.
"Bye Hugh. Good luck with everything."
Tanya and Hugh
"Thank you," Hugh replied.
And thus Tanya and Hugh departed.
