I know something you don't know

Faith

Faith stepped out of the shower, wrapping the towel around her body and standing in front of the steamed up mirror. She reached out and wiped the glass, staring intently at the reflection for a moment.

"I know I'm hot and all, but that's a little creepy."

She smiled, turning away to reach for her clothes.

Is it so wrong that I like the look of my host?

She slipped a shirt over her head, followed by her underwear and then a pair of sweatpants, pausing again to look in the mirror, eyes flashing golden every so often.

"Kind of. Plus, really, with me being a Slayer and you being a demon, shouldn't you hate the way I look?"

Faith chuckled to herself, running a brush through her long hair.

Normally, yes. But, I actually picked you for a reason.

"Oh yeah, this plan of yours. How's that working for you, by the way? I do notice that Sam is still alive."

Silly girl. She put the brush down on the sink. Do you honestly think I won't hesitate to kill him when I am ready?

"Oh, I'm more or less thinking that I'll be able to stop you."

You'd like to think that. But would you really want to stop me if you knew what I knew?

"Hmm, childish. I know something you don't know. So what is it? What's the big secret?"

Faith's eyes returned to the mirror and she smirked at her reflection. You don't want to know, not really. Not about poor little Sammy. Sammy with the puppy dog eyes.

"Sounds like someone has a thing for Sam. That can't be healthy. A demon having a thing for the human it wants to kill? You should see someone about that."

Ah, what makes you so sure that Sam is a human?

Faith's lips curled up into a cruel smirk.

"So... Sam's a demon."

Mmmhmm, afraid so, princess. Guess the boys didn't feel the need to tell you. And you'd think, you know, after sharing a bed with one of them, he'd feel he could trust you. Seems you're left in the dark a lot these days, right? I mean, first with Angel and now with this...

"They all had their reasons."

Evidently. I just think it's interesting. I mean, it's all about trust right? I guess they didn't trust you wouldn't kill Sam... because you would. Black and white. No shades of grey for you, are there Faithy? Good and bad. Owed and owing. And you're owed a lot, aren't you? You gave yourself up and still, no one believes you've really changed. They still see you as the same old killer.

"Jesus, you really like the sound of your own voice, don't you? Sam's a demon. Big deal. In case you didn't notice, my sponsor is a vampire. And you're wrong. I'm all about the shades of grey."

She turned, one hand on the doorknob.

Maybe.

"Sam will figure it out, you know. And then he'll send you back to hell."

You'd like to believe that.
