Angel knocked lightly on Gunn's door, waiting for the standard mumble from Gunn before entering.
"Heard anything?" Gunn asked, looking over at his boss.
Angel shook his head. "No, but I didn't really expect to. When Faith wants to stay hidden, she stays hidden. Still... I wish she'd leave some clue of her whereabouts."
"Faith?" came a new voice from the doorway. Lindsey stood awkwardly. "Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt, I just had to ask Gunn if - "
"It's ok," Angel said, turning to see the arrival. "How's the first day back?"
"Well..." Lindsey moved into the office and took the other chair in front of Gunn's desk. "Same as always, really. Like I never left."
"Good, good." Angel nodded. He made a move to stand.
"What were you saying about Faith?" Lindsey asked. "I know... I remember she was here before."
"Yeah." Gunn and Angel shared a look, and Gunn decided to field this one. "She's just... taking a break from LA."
Lindsey smiled wryly. "And you have no idea where she is. Come on, guys, I'm working here now, you may as well fill me in on things. You don't think she's dead, do you?"
"No," Angel replied. "We... there's a connection. I'd know."
Gunn looked down at his desk for a second. "Are you sure?"
"Yes. I'd just know. She's alive, she's just... look, I've got work to do, so..." Angel stood and turned to Lindsey. "Welcome back."
And with that, he promptly left, leaving Lindsey with Gunn.
Lindsey exhaled loudly. "Well."
Gunn nodded. "It seems."
"So, just out of curiousity," Lindsey started, leaning forward. "Why did Faith take off? I thought those two were all buddy buddy these days."
"I don't know the full details, I wasn't actually there when it happened," Gunn said, after hesitating a moment. "But it seems Angel, Wesley and Lorne concealed something from her."
"That being?" Lindsey questioned.
"A death of a friend," Gunn answered. "She... she took it badly. Took it as betrayal. And left. No one has heard anything. Angel's worried, to say the least. He feels he's let her down and from what I know about what happened before, he's worried she might take the same path."
Lindsey digested this information, nodding slightly. "Quite a mystery."
Gunn cleared his throat. "But anyway, you wanted something?"
"Oh, yeah, with my old clients..."
