Faith flipped down her visor, dark eyes scanning her reflection in the mirror. She smiled, then pouted seductively.
She liked this body. It was strong and powerful. Also, it had an amazing effect on men. And, if she could help it, she was going to keep this one for as long as she could.
She glanced at the Impala, parked metres away from her own car, and her eyes slid to the window of the diner, where Sam was seated at his table.
"Mmm, puppy's here."
Faith opened the car door, boot crunching on the gravel. She stepped out of the car, standing straight and moved her hair from her eyes, shoulders hunching a little in the cold.
She'd discovered fairly early on that if she dressed the part, she would ensure many eyes followed her when she entered a room. And she enjoyed that. Inwardly, the real Faith was not at all pleased at these turn of events, but short of death or an exorcism, she wasn't going to be in control of her own body for a long while.
Closing the door, Faith made her way up to the diner, pushing the door open and heading for the counter.
Sam
Sam was immersed in his research again, this time concentrating on old school reports of telekinesis. Of course most of the references were crack reports on aliens and crap, but he found some from the early 1900s that looked legit.
He resisted the temptation to use it in public, knowing someone was bound to see it. Instead he moved thelaptop a little to reach fr some sauce to put on his chips.
Faith
Faith sat down at the bar, feigning innocence as she perused the menu. She turned around on her stool, as if she was just looking out the window while she decided, and her dark eyes fell on Sam.
"Sam?" she asked, a perfect look of innocent recognition floating across her features.
Sam
Sam looked up as he heard his name, hoping someone hadn't recognised him.
"Faith?" he frowned a moment, before smiling.
"Fancy seeing you here."
Faith
Faith crossed one leg over the other, the menu rolling between her fingertips.
"Funny how we keep running into each other..." she mused, raising an eyebrow. "Feel like company?"
Sam
"Always welcome," Sam assured, moving and closing his laptop so that she could sit across from him.
"Especially when you become a lone wolf like myself. I may work alone, but I'm not a hermit either."
Faith
Faith slid into the booth across from him and smiled faintly.
"Lone wolf... I like that."
She rested her chin on her hand.
"So, how'd the - " she paused to dig through the real Faith's memories for a second. "Poltegeist go?"
Sam
"Ah... very messy," Sam screwed his face up.
"Spent all night cleaning the house up. But we got rid of it, so all is well in that particular neighbourhood for now."
He started packing his laptop cords up.
"How about you? How's training going?"
Faith
Training? Oh right...
"Same as usual," Faith replied, shrugging. "I'm actually on the move again. Decided this afternoon that I should move on."
She glanced out the window.
"But I'm not sure where I'm off to yet."
Sam
Sam's eyebrows rose as he watched her.
"Well... I was going to head to Montana to check out a few demonic omens if you want to tag along," he offered, somewhat hopefully.
"But, obviously you could have better things to do. And I know you're more for low-scale coporeal demons and all..."
Faith
Faith looked at him and smiled slightly.
"Well, I can always search out demons to hunt while you're checking things out. No shortage of demons in America, right?"
Sam
"Very true," Sam nodded, not for the first time wondering what Faith's reaction would be to finding out his secret.
"So I guess it's... a very long date then. You do have your car though, right?"
Faith
"I do indeed. Or one of Angel's, rather."
Faith tapped her fingers on the table.
Sam
"Oh, ok," Sam was confused.
"Still, you can follow, right?"
Faith
"Anywhere you want me."
Faith raised an eyebrow suggestively.
"So, what's the deal with Montana?"
Sam
"Lightning storms, cattle deaths, the usual suspects," Sam shrugged, starting to eat again.
"I'm hoping it might turn out to be a particular demon, but I'm also not getting my hopes up."
Faith
Faith's eyes flickered gold for a second, and she closed them, shaking her head a little.
"Well, I'll tag along for the ride. Sounds like it could get interesting."
Sam
Sam's grin broadened again.
"It very well might," he agreed.
