"Any pain?" Hank asked, opening his medical bag and setting it on the bed beside Faith's feet.
"Nope," Faith replied. "Usual sickness, but no worse than with Tru."
Hank nodded, pausing for a moment while he organised his equipment. "And how is the young lady?"
"Excellent," she sighed. "She was accepted into Stanford."
Hank beamed. "Marvellous! And medicine? Like she always said?"
"Yep," Faith replied. "The girl has big plans."
Hank chuckled, pushing his glasses up onto his nose before snapping some gloves on. "Just like her mother, I suspect."
There was a comfortable silence between the pair as Hank started a preliminary exam of Faith's pelvic region.
"Sorry for making you come to me," Faith said again.
"No need to apologise, dear lady," Hank replied. "Bobby is always telling me to get out of my cave more, and I must admit, I could not resist the opportunity to take one of Scott's cars."
"Been lonely without the icecube?"
"A little," he admitted. "But he will be back at the Mansion for New Years, if only to badger me in my lab."
Another silence, before Faith broke it again.
"So, what you look like with the image inducer on, is that what you looked like before the mutation?"
"Yes," Hank replied, gentle in his actions. He paused, and chuckled. "Although my hair would not be nearly as dark."
Dean & Sam
"Whoo! Yet another successful bonfire in the woods... what the hell?" Dean had his jacket off only one shoulder when he paused and tilted his head.
Sam pushed his brother forward so he could get through the door, stopping short at the sight of Hank.
Faith and Hank
"Hey, how'd it go?" Faith asked, completely unaware that they might be slightly more than concerned that there was a large blue creature crouched at the end of the bed, examining her pelvis.
Hank cleared his throat, and looked up from his examination. "Um..."
"Oh, it's ok," Faith said. "He's a doctor."
Sam & Dean
Sam frowned in confusion as Dean nodded his acceptance.
"I take it you're one of those mutants we've been hearing about," Dean dumped his bag on his bed and sat down to take off his boots.
"It went to plan," Sam answered Faith's question.
Hank and Faith
"Yes," Hank replied, before returning his attention to Faith.
"Oh good," Faith said to Sam. "Would've joined the party, but was a little tied up."
She caught Dean's eye and grinned slightly.
Dean & Sam
"Mmm..." Dean looked thoughtful.
He snapped back to reality when Sam walked past to sit on one of the chairs and take his own boots off.
"So we see," he nodded, "is everything ok?"
Hank and Faith
"So far, so good," Hank said, looking up at Sam. "Dr Henry McCoy... Sam, I take it?"
Faith snickered at Dean.
Sam & Dean
"Yeah, Sam Winchester," Sam nodded, "I'd shake your hand, but ah..."
"I for one think it's gettng increasingly sad how I feel comfortable with being skipped on the introductions," Dean pondered, making Sam roll his eyes.
"Don't mind my brother," he insisted.
Hank and Faith
"I apologise, you must be Dean?" Hank said, glancing at him before turning back to Faith.
"Told you," Faith said to Hank.
Dean & Sam
"Told him what?" the brothers asked in unison.
Hank and Faith
"Oh, um, nothing," Hank said, busying himself with his equipment.
Faith snickered.
Sam & Dean
Sam smirked as Dean shrugged and took his shirt off.
"Faith didn't tell us you were coming," Sam said as he watched on.
Hank and Faith
"Last minute house call," Hank said, smiling faintly.
"I was a little dizzy after you left," Faith told him. "And I couldn't even think about getting to Xavier's."
"Hmmm," Hank said thoughtfully. "And one would not like to be there to witness - well the dizziness seems to have subsided, am I correct?"
"Yeah," she nodded.
Sam
"That's normal, right?" Sam asked, a little worry in his voice.
Hank and Faith
"Very," Hank assured Sam. "Although, it would happen less frequently if one were to, say, slow down a little?"
"Is this your way of asking me to relax?" Faith asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Not asking, ordering," Hank corrected. "As your primary physician, I'm telling you."
Dean & Sam
Dean pulled another shirt on and lay back on his bed, one hand under his head to prop it up.
"No more patrolling?" Sam suggested.
Hank and Faith
"You could cut back on that," Hank told her. "Get away from your Slayer duties for a few days."
"It's not really something I can get away from, Hank," Faith said, then glanced at Dean. "Dean, you're making me nervous. Don't look in my direction."
Dean & Sam
"You? Nervous?" Dean smirked.
"Dean," Sam sighed.
"Whatever," Dean lay back and closed his eyes.
"What did you do... before?" Sam turned back to Faith, "you know, last time? You can't have continued slaying..."
Faith and Hank
"Angel sent me to another dimension where time passed quicker," Faith said, shrugging. "With my own security team."
Hank smiled faintly, and pulled his hands away, covering Faith's lower half with a blanket.
"Well, you're in good shape, nothing to worry about."
Dean & Sam
"That's one way to get rid of the monthly nightmare," Dean smirked from the bed.
Sam just frowned, eyes falling to the floor as he thought it over.
Hank and Faith
Hank snapped the gloves off and tossed them into the bin, a long with a few of the other disposable instruments he had used, before carefully putting his other ones back into his medical bag.
"My advice would be to take it easy," he told her. "You're overtired."
"Ok," Faith agreed, sitting up and reaching for her pants. "I'll try."
"Not try," Hank replied. "Nothing strenuous. No disruptions. Perhaps your own room would be good, too?"
Sam
"I think we're fine," Sam jumped in, assuredly.
Hank and Faith
"Quite," Hank said, polishing his glasses.
Faith hid her smile and sat up, going to walk Hank out to his car.
"Thanks again, Hank."
"It was no trouble at all," Hank reassured her, taking her hand. "But I mean it, look after yourself."
Sam & Dean
"Oh we'll make sure of it," Sam insisted with a nod, standing as he left.
"See ya," Dean didn't even bother opening his eyes.
Hank and Faith
"And remember," Hank said, as he left the room. "There is always a place for you at the Mansion if you need it."
Faith smiled faintly. "Yeah, but being that close to Logan again might not be such a good idea. But thanks."
Hank nodded, and kissed her hand. "Goodbye, Faith."
"See ya, Hank."
Faith watched until he was in the car, and then came back into the motel room.
Sam
When she got close enough, Sam leant over and kissed her cheek.
"Are we good?" he asked.
Faith
"All clear," Faith replied, reaching up to slide her arms around his neck.
"Does he know?" she asked quietly.
Dean & Sam
"Know what?" Dean grunted.
Sam clenched his teeth and shook his head, looking over at his brother.
"Ah... that we wanted to have some... alone time, tonight. If it's no hassle?" he quickly lied.
Faith
Faith sent Sam a warning glance, before nodding her agreement.
"Yeah, alone time."
Dean & Sam
"As long as it means I don't have to get up."
"Dean-"
"No, seriously," Dean looked up at them.
He fumbled in his pocket for a moment, then threw Sam the car keys. He caught tem easily in his right hand.
"You can even take the car. I ain't moving nowhere after that drive."
Faith
"Alright," Faith said quietly.
"Let's go. Be alone, then."
Sam
Sam gave her a sympathetic look, before grabbing them both a coat and heading for the door.
Faith
Faith waited until the door was closed behind them to turn to Sam.
"What are we going to tell him?"
Sam
"Ah... nothing?" Sam suggested, walking further from the door so they couldn't be overheard.
Faith
"Sam, we need to make a decision soon."
Faith ran a hand through her hair, walking apart from Sam, not touching him.
Sam
"And I know what Dean's decision would be. Trust me, he doesn't need to know," Sam insisted, digging his hands into his pockets as they walked.
Faith
"Sooner or later, he's going to notice," Faith commented.
She looked over at him.
"We don't have to go through with this."
Sam
"I know," Sam nodded.
"I'm just so... torn. Still. I mean, regardless of the hereditary complications, it's still a life... you know?"
Faith
"I know."
Faith looked at her feet as they walked.
"Oh boy, do I know."
Sam
"On the same scale, maybe we'd be saving - rather than just killing - it. Especially if it's going to have both demons and angels and whatever else on its tail for its entire life," Sam shrugged with a frown.
Faith
"Maybe," Faith agreed quietly.
She walked alongside him for a few more metres.
"So, that's what we want?"
Sam
"I'm not a hundred percent," Sam shook his head.
"But having said that... I don't think I ever will be."
Faith
"No, it's not an easy decision," Faith said, glancing at him.
"Not to mention the awful recovery time after the - "
She stopped, realising she'd never told Sam that story.
Sam
Sam stopped walking and turned to face her.
"What are you talking about?" he asked curiously.
Faith
"It's not important," Faith said, trying to brush over the subject.
She looked away from Sam.
Sam
"Seriously. Tell me," Sam insisted.
Faith
Faith avoided Sam's eyes.
"I've had one before, that's all."
Sam
Sam hesitated.
"Haven't you had two?" his eyebrows rose.
Faith
"No, not the childbirth thing, the... termination thing."
Faith scratched the side of her neck absently.
Sam
"...Oh," Sam was taken aback.
He took a step back so as not to crowd her.
"I'm, I'm sorry. I didn't think..."
Faith
"It's ok," Faith said quietly, still not meeting his eyes.
"It was awhile back. I was 15."
Sam
"That doesn't make it ok," Sam shook his head sadly.
Faith
"It was my only choice, Sam," Faith said, looking past him.
"Nothing about the conception had been particularly consentual."
Sam
Sam frowned and took a deep breath.
"I see," he nodded.
Faith
"You don't, but it's ok."
Faith shrugged, running a hand through her hair.
"You knew my childhood wasn't exactly rosy."
Sam
"I meant there was nothing else I could say," Sam shook his head.
"And yeah, I know. You don't have to talk about it."
Faith
"I know."
Faith rubbed at her eyes.
"And maybe one day I'll let you in on everything, but I... it's too soon right now."
Sam
"It's ok," Sam insisted, stepping forward again and taking her hand in his.
"I'm telling you that you don't need to tell me. At all."
Faith
"Thanks."
Faith looked up at him for the first time.
"So... we're really doing this."
Sam
"I think it would be the right thing," Sam nodded, "for us... and it."
He refused to refer to 'it' as their child, for fear he'd change his mind.
Faith
Faith nodded.
"Hank gave me the name and number of a good doctor. Um, she's based in Seattle."
Sam
"That's not too far at least, we could be there in a few days," Sam nodded.
"It's... I guess... might be better to get it over with."
Faith
"Yeah."
Faith pushed some hair from her eyes.
"I'll make the calls."
Sam
There was an awkward moment of silence, and Sam took a deep breath.
"Hug?" he suggested.
Faith
Faith smiled faintly and took a step towards Sam.
"Yes please."
Sam
Sam wrapped his arms around her comfortably, squeezing her a little as he breathed her in.
