Christmas Eve

Written by Nessa and AiMsTeR

Tru and Faith

Before Tru had even raised her fist, Faith had opened the door and the pair were hugging tightly.

"Hi Mom."

Faith laughed and let go of her daughter, allowing her entrance. "Hey."

Tru nodded awkwardly at Sam.

Sam & Dean"Hey Tru," Sam smiled in greeting, walking towards the door slowly.

Dean looked up from the laptop, barely paying attention.

Tru and Faith

"Hey," Tru replied, closing the distance between herself and Sam. She hugged him for a second, reaching up on tip toes to do so.

Faith smiled and closed the door, then glanced at Tru's empty hands.

"Got a room," Tru replied, not even looking at her mother but still knowing what she was thinking. She turned and grinned cheekily.

"So?" Faith looked at her in anticipation.

Tru nodded and grinned again. "I will be matriculating with the class of 2007."

Sam

"You got in?!" Sam's face lit up, "where?!"

Tru and Faith

"Stanford," Tru said, with a huge smile on her face. "As of next year, I will officially be a Med student."

Faith laughed and pulled her daughter into her arms for a hug. "You see? Your Mom is always right."

"I know, I know," Tru replied, rolling her eyes good naturedly.

Sam & Dean

"Congratulations," Sam gave her a pat on the back, almost proudly.

"We should go somewhere to celebrate."

Dean looked up at the prospect of food.

"I'm in!" he announced.

Faith and Tru

"On Christmas Eve? Everything will be packed," Faith put in.

"Nah," Tru said, waving her hand. "Everyone is at home preparing the turkey and stuff."

Dean & Sam

"Who cares?" Dean shrugged on his jacket, a smile on his face.

"It all depends on where we go," Sam shrugged, glancing back at Dean as his brother walked to his side, "I spotted a nice Italian restaurant on the way into town. But I'm sure there are other options."

Faith and Tru

Faith slid her jacket on and looked at her daughter. Tru nodded, threading her arm through Faith's.

"You going to drop in on Zac?" Faith asked.

Tru shrugged. "Maybe around New Years. I don't know, I just... it's our first Christmas without... I just wanted to be with you."

Sam & Dean

Sam gave Faith what he hoped was a reassuring look, before grabbing his own jacket from the bed.

"WHat are we waiting for, let's party!" Dean grinned, opening the door and holding it for the ladies.

Faith and Tru

Faith and Tru left the room first, and Tru looked around at the motel.

"Is he moving too?" Faith asked.

"Yeah," Tru replied, almost shyly. "He's started applying for jobs in Palo Alto."

Dean & Sam

Dean and Sam shared an awkward glance at the mention of Palo Alto as Sam closed and locked the door.

"Is that the boyfriend?" Dean asked, walking past them to lead the way.

Tru and Faith

"Ummm," Tru said, a little awkwardly. "Yeah. I mean, we haven't... discussed it."

Faith grinned. "He's moving for you. He's a boyfriend."

Sam & Dean

Sam walked up beside Faith, slipping his arm around her waist with a smile.

"Or maybe he just likes the sex," Dean teased.

Tru and Faith

"Well, that would be impossible, seeing as... well... anyway," Tru said shyly.

Faith leaned into Sam, and glanced at her daughter.

"Really?"

"Really," Tru confirmed.

Dean & Sam

"What?" Dean looked between them, "the guy's a eunich?"

Sam chuckled to himself, planting a kiss on Faith's forehead.

Tru and Faith

"No, but I just... I'm... nevermind," Tru said, shaking her head.

"I cannot believe Zac and I produced such an angel," Faith grinned, ruffling her daughter's hair.

Tru blushed faintly.

Sam & Dean

Sam's face fell a little at Faith's comment, knowing any child that they might have would be anything but an angel.

He snapped out of it when Dean practically snorted.

Faith and Tru

Faith used her free hand to touch Sam's arm gently.

"Angel bought the biggest tree," Tru told her mother. "It takes up like... the whole lobby."

Faith grinned. "He likes Christmas."

Sam & Dean

"I'm personally not a fan," Sam admitted, clearing his throat.

"Who are you kidding? We had a great Christmas last year!"

"It wasn't great, it was depressing," Sam corrected, "and besides, we're always working a job anyway."

Tru and Faith

"We had an awkward one," Tru said.

"Hmm, you noticed that too?" Faith asked.

Tru looked at her mother. "I notice everything."

Dean

"Well this one doesn't have to be," Dean announced.

"I'm not going to hell, we've got no Pagan Gods stealing our fingernails, and we have two beautiful women by our side. Only thing we got to worry about is the apocalypse, and right now who cares?"

Tru and Faith

Tru smirked slightly.

"Plus, I have an amazing video of Spike drunk at the Wolfram and Hart Christmas party."

Faith took a sidelong glance at her daughter. "Really?"

"Mmmhmm. And he's wearing reindeer antlers."

Dean & Sam

"Heh. Spike in reindeer antlers," Dean shook his head, amused.

"Sam, here the heck is the restaurant?"

"Another two blocks."

"Damn Christmas Eve traffic..."

Tru and Faith

"Singing Christmas carols," Tru finished. "Was a good party though. Gunn was toasted."

Faith grinned. "Yeah, he looks for any excuse, really."

Sam

"Are you girls fine with Italian, or did you want to check out the Chinese place?" Sam asked, looking a little embarrassed at interrupting them.

"This is the tur off point, is all."

Tru and Faith

"Anything is good with us," Tru said, waving her hand dismissively. "I'm just in need of food after flying."

"Tell me you shifted into something less obvious than you with wings," Faith said.

Tru snickered. "I haven't been winged Tru in awhile now. And yes. I was a bird."

Sam & Dean

"Some direction would be good," Sam looked up at Dean.

"Italian it is. Bring on the pizza," Dean rubbed his stomach before crossing the street.

Tru and Faith

"It's meant to snow," Tru said, looking around at the streets. "It would be nice."

"There's an ice skating rink not far away," Faith told her. "We can do that later, if you like?"

Tru smiled and nodded. "Yeah."

Sam & Dean

"As long as no one breaks their neck," Sam insisted.

"Look at you playing Dad," Dean smirked as he opened the restaurant door for them.

Luckily, there wasn't too much of a crowd inside after all.

"Shut up," Sam blushed a little.

Tru and Faith

Tru giggled at Dean's comment as they entered the restaurant.

Faith glanced up at Sam and smiled faintly, shaking her head. "We'll be careful."

"Promise, Dad," Tru added, snickering.

Sam & Dean

"You too," Sam added to his earlier statement, before walking up to the counter as he took his jacket off.

"Table for four please."

"Don't you just get all tingly when he takes control like that?" Dean grinned at Faith, shaking his shoulders.

"Certainly Sir. Right this way..."

Faith and Tru

"I love it when he's take charge guy," Faith said, grinning back at Dean.

Tru shook her head at her mother and Dean, and followed Sam's lead.

Dean & Sam

Once they'd taken their seats, Dean practically snatched a menu from the waiter's hands.

"Let's see what we've got- Oooh, pepperoni..."

"Thanks," Sam nodded as he was passed one.

Faith and Tru

"Thanks," Faith and Tru said in unison, then smiled at each other.

"Mmm, feta," Tru said, reading through her menu.

Faith had one hand absently on her stomach as she read over the menu, wondering if she could ask for one of the toppings on another pizza onto the one she wanted.

Sam & Dean

"I think... I'll have the risotto," Sam smiled at the waiter.

"And I'll have the pizza with all the meat on it. It's some Italian name, I dunno how to pronounce it..." Dean held the menu up for the waiter.

"Does red sound good for the wine?" Sam asked the girls.

Faith and Tru

"Sure, but I won't be drinking tonight," Faith said, glancing at him. "Feeling a little sick still."

Tru gave her mother a sidelong glance before ordering her pizza, then stared openly as Faith made her order.

"Red's fine," she managed, eyes wide.

"Hmmm?" Faith asked.

"Didn't you tell me once you ate a lot of those when you were - "

"Sick? Yes," Faith cut in.

Dean & Sam

"Thanks man," Dean gave the waiter a thumbs up.

Sam ended their order, then shifted in his seat as the waiter left to fetch their drink.

Tru and Faith

Tru looked between Sam and Faith.

"Mom? Are you - "

"So, are you going to live on campus, or has Angel arranged something?" Faith cut in.

Tru glanced at Dean, finally getting what Faith was trying to do.

"We've been weighing up pro's and con's," she answered.

Dean & Sam

"Go campus, you get to do the sneak-around thing," Dean nodded.

"Mmm... naked pillow fights..."

"On the contrary," Sam glanced at his brother, "we rented an apartment a few blocks from our campus in Palo Alto. It was a cheaper alternative and we didn't have as many rules to follow so strictly. It worked out great."

Tru and Faith

"Yeah, we're angling off campus," Tru said to Sam. "That way, if we run into anything supernatural, we don't get a whole mess of randoms involved."

"You think that might be a problem?" Faith asked.

Tru shrugged. "I'm your daughter. Evil finds me like bees to honey."

"Good point."

Dean & Sam

"Know the feeling," Dean nodded.

"Says he with angels on his shoulders," Sam said under his breath as he looked over the dessert menu.

Dean scowled at him.

Faith and Tru

"I lived with Zac for a little over a year without anything breaking in," Faith pointed out to Tru.

"Yeah, but that was Tulsa," Tru replied. "Nothing happens there, really."

"You'd be surprised," she told her daughter. "Lorne could probably organise the sanctuary spell, so even if something does come crashing through the door, they can't do anything violent."

Sam & Dean

"I've had my say," Sam shrugged.

"But ultimately, it's up to you. You'll be the one living there. Also, if you go on campus, you might not get to choose your roomie."

Tru and Faith

"Good point," Tru said. "But... I mean, that's part of the whole college thing, right? I want... I want to be normal for awhile."

Faith smiled sadly at her. "Yeah... sorry about that."

Sam

"Trust me, it's not worth it," Sam insisted, "before I moved in with Jess I went through three of them. It was horrible."

"You never told me that," Dean looked his brother over.

Faith and Tru

"Plus," Faith went on. "You'll have a hard time explaining some of your less than normal habits to a roommate."

Tru nodded. "That's true. I just feel so young still."

"Baby, you're still technically like... three, by this dimension. It's understandable that you still feel that way."

Dean

"Such a hot three year old," Dean mused as the waiter returned with their wine.

He sat back as the waiter set out three glasses and half filled each one.

Tru and Faith

"Well, I have good looking parents," Tru said, shrugging slightly.

Faith rolled her eyes, and leaned over to kiss Tru's forehead.

Dean & Sam

"On your Mom's side anyway," Dean smirked.

"Thankyou," Sam nodded to the waiter, before sipping his wine.

Tru and Faith

"Have they met Dad?" Tru asked.

Faith smiled, almost laughing. "Just the once."

She leaned against Sam.

Dean & Sam

"He was very... short. And pudgy," Dean shuddered a little.

"Dean," Sam gave him a stern look.

"What?" Dean demanded.

"He's her father, show some respect," Sam said softly.

"I'm ten years older than that kid, I don't have to."

Tru and Faith

Tru shrugged.

"It's ok," she said to Sam. "Just as long as he doesn't insult Mom too."

Faith shook her head. "He wouldn't want to."

Dean

"No I wouldn't. Phew!" Dean grinned.

Tru and Faith

Tru looked between Faith and Dean. "Mmm, there are unresolved issues that I won't delve into."

Faith raised an eyebrow. "Ok."

Sam & Dean

"Oh great, food's here," Sam nodded in its direction.

Two waiters brought their plates out, and the boys waited until the girls were ready to eat.

Faith and Tru

Faith sniffed and then made a face. She got up quickly and headed for the bathroom.

"Ah, I'll take this one," Tru said, standing up and following her mother.

Dean & Sam

"Seriously, she's still sick?" Dean raised an eyebrow before digging in to his pizza.

"Need to see someone about that."

"She has," Sam watched after them worriedly, "there isn't much more we can do I'm afraid."

Tru and Faith

"Are you ok?" Tru asked, rubbing her mother's back gently as Faith bent over the sink, fighting the feeling of nausea.

"Yeah, no trauma," Faith replied, nodding.

"Does Sam know?" Tru asked.

"Yeah."

"But not Dean."

Dean & Sam

The brothers ate in silence until half of Dean's pizza was gone, and he stopped to look over the dessert menu.

"I'm thinking gelati," he nodded, still chewing.

Sam just remained staring towards the bathrooms, hoping Faith was ok.

Faith and Tru

"It's ok," Faith said, nodding. "Not going to throw up."

"Good," Tru replied, taking her mother's hand and leading her out of the bathroom.

They rejoined the boys at the table.

Sam

"Want me to send the food back?" Sam offered.

Faith and Tru

Faith shook her head. "No, it's ok."

Tru shrugged. "We'll eat it later, we'll take it to go."

Sam & Dean

Sam nodded, unsure of whether to continue eating or not. Dean however, launched back into his onslaught.

"Do you want to go back now?" Sam offered.

Tru and Faith

"We might," Tru said, glancing at Faith. "But you guys stay."

Faith nodded slightly. "Yeah, finish your dinner. I'll see you after."

Sam & Dean

Sam dug in his pocket as Dean gave them a thumbs up.

"Here," he handed Tru the room key, "call me if anything happens. And I mean anything."

Tru and Faith

"Will do," Tru nodded.

Faith bent and kissed Sam's cheek, then left with her daughter.

Sam & Dean

Sam watched after them, before turning back and watching Dean.

"What?" Dean frowned.

"Nothing," Sam sighed, starting on his food again.

Dean brushed off his hands and called the waiter over.

"Time for dessert!"
