Faith splashed water on her face and reached for a towel. She dried herself off and looked up in the mirror, studying her reflection for a few long moments before turning away and throwing the towel down on the sink top.
She sighed, almost inaudibly, and opened the bathroom door, watching Sam for a second before venturing back out into the motel room.
Sam
Sam looked up when he sensed her behind him.
"How are you feeling?" he asked worriedly, knowing she'd been sick.
Faith
"Better. Or worse. Or... something."
Faith moved to their bed and sat on the edge of it, her fingers tapping absently on her knee.
Sam
Sam sighed, turning to face her.
"Are you sure you don't want me to pick you up something for the nausea?" he asked sincerely, turning on the puppy eyed look.
"You've been sick for a week now, it can't be normal."
Faith
"Yeah, I kinda think we need to talk about that."
Faith glanced at him, then returned her eyes to her feet.
"So... um... yeah. Let's talk."
Sam
Sam frowned in confusion.
"What do you mean?" he asked.
Faith
Faith bit her lip, trying to think of how to word her statement.
"Um, I know why I've been sick."
Sam
Sam's frown deepened, wondering what other kind of supernatural crap was going to interfere with their lives now.
"Are you ok?" he asked first.
Faith
"Yeah."
Faith got up and moved over to where Sam was, sitting beside him and taking one of his hands gently.
"Just... we have options ok, so don't freak out too much. Although, you know, that may be fairly pointless, it's pretty freak- out worthy, I guess."
Sam
Sam's eyes searched hers, worriedly.
"Is it a demon?" he asked outright.
Faith
"Not exactly."
Faith bit her lip again, then took a deep breath.
"I'm... pregnant."
Sam
Sam's eyebrows rose, but his eyes remained on her.
"You're pregnant," he repeated, unsure.
Faith
Faith nodded.
"Yep," she said, a little awkward. "But, you know, we have choices."
Sam
"Are you sure?" Sam had to reiterate.
Faith
Faith nodded.
"Yeah. I... I went to see a doctor yesterday. That's why I'd sorta disappeared."
Sam
Sam nodded.
"Oh ok."
He hesitated, taking a long moment the process it.
"What did you mean, options?" he asked uncertainly.
Faith
"Well," Faith said, awkward again. "There's adoption or... termination."
She paused, a little nagging voice in the back of her mind wondering if he'd want to break up over this.
"I get it if you're not ready, I mean, I've done this before, and I did it alone... so..."
Sam
"We could never adopt out," Sam put a strike through straight off the bat.
"We don't know what... who... um. We couldn't tell..."
He shook his head, struggling to find the words.
Faith
"I know this is huge," Faith said softly.
She touched his cheek.
"If you... I mean, I can go to LA if you need time to think."
Sam
"No, no," Sam took her hand in his.
"The last thing we need is to be apart right now. Unless... you need time?"
Faith
"No, I'm five by five."
Faith squeezed his hand lightly.
"I just... I know this is new for you. And I mean... it's... it's so soon after Li... after everything."
Sam
"Yeah," Sam looked awkward for a moment.
"But we're not alone in it at least."
Faith
"Yeah, that's a nice change."
Faith shook her head slightly.
"We don't have to make a decision, you can sit on this news for a few days."
She bit her lip, somewhat nervously.
Sam
"We might need more than a few days," Sam considered.
Faith
"We have roughly a month before it's too late for a doctor to terminate."
Faith considered that for a moment.
"That being said, I can always stab myself in the uterus later on."
Sam
"Yeah," Sam agreed.
"If that would even kill it."
Faith
Faith touched her stomach with her free hand.
"Sorry," she said softly. "I know we hadn't exactly planned on this happening."
Sam
"It's not your fault," Sam insisted, looking thoughtful as he stared at the floor.
"We were careful."
Faith
"Yeah."
Faith tucked some hair behind her ears.
"Maybe we should cut back on the sex."
Sam
"Something's wrong here," Sam shook his head.
"I just don't know what. I've got a bad feeling."
Faith
"Let's not think so much," Faith said, shrugging. "Never was my strong point."
She glanced at the light for a second.
Sam
"Maybe we should get some help," Sam suggested.
Faith
"Yeah."
Faith shrugged.
"But first? Let's get Faith some pillows."
Sam
Sam looked back at her, and couldn't help but smile a little.
"Sure," he said softly, getting up to fetch some from the cupboard.
