Faith glanced towards the window, where thin beams of moonlight flooded through the gap in the cutrains. Sam's head was comfortably resting on her lap and her fingers gently ran through his hair, never pausing in their rhythm.
She leaned back against the bedhead, closing her eyes for a moment and just listening to Sam's steady breathing. Her eyes opened and her gaze fell upon the bandage around his torso. She carefully reached across and pulled the blanket up so it was covering his bare chest.
Her laptop sat beside her, and she turned a little, careful not to disrupt Sam, and she clicked into her emails, before a notification popped up telling her Angel was sending an IM.
Angel says:
Up late?
Faith says:
You know me, I'm a night owl...
Angel says:
You know given the right time to adjust, a human's eyesight is just
as good as an owl's. True fact.
Faith says:
You know that you're so beyond weird, right?
Angel says:
Yeah, I get that a lot...
Faith says:
What's happening at the Wolf, the Ram and the Heart?
Angel says:
Not much actually. Spike's taken this 'he has an office' business too
seriously, and now thinks he has an input.
Faith says:
Poor Team Angel?
Angel says:
Something like that. How's Sam doing?
Faith says:
Poor kid is all cute and bandaged. I could poke him and he'd fall
over in pain.
Angel says:
Tell me you're not poking the wound!
Faith says:
What sort of person do you think I am? :P But no. Not inflicting pain
on him. Happen to kinda like this one, you know!
Angel says:
I've noticed.
Faith says:
?
Angel says:
My little girl is all grown up...
Faith says:
Shut up!
Angel says:
Have you exchanged the L word yet?
Faith says:
I'm not telling you a thing.
Angel says:
That's a yes. It's so a yes.
Faith says:
What are you, like 8?
Angel says:
I'm proud, is all!
Faith says:
Shut up or I'll stake you.
Angel says:
No way, Faith, this is a big moment for me.
Faith says:
Congratulations?
Angel says:
I'll admit that at first, I didn't pick you and Sam for an obvious
thing.
Faith says:
Yeah, I think it kinda blindsided us too.
Angel says:
But you know, he makes you happy. And he's a good kid. Bit tall. But
he's a good kid, nonetheless.
Faith says:
His height is a flaw for you, is it?
Angel says:
Faith, the kid is a freak.
Faith says:
Yeah, but he's my freak.
Angel says:
If I tease you, you're going to make me regret it next time you're
out my way, aren't you?
Faith says:
Oh God, yes. Although, I might do it anyway. Hey look, I better go.
Sam's finally sleeping peacefully and I don't want to wake him with
the tapping of a keyboard.
Angel says:
I'm making a very concerted effort not to tease you right now.
Faith says:
Yeah, you're so getting thrown down the stairs.
Angel says:
:) Night Faith.
Faith says:
Night Dark Avenger.
Faith shook her head, smiling to herself as she shut her laptop down. She closed the lid and managed to put it on the bedside table without moving Sam's head around too much, then she resumed watching over him, stroking his cheek lightly.
