Dean walked into the lobby of Wolfram & Hart, dumped his bag about ten steps in, and took a deep breath.
"HONEY, I'M HOME!"
Spike and Faith
Spike poked his head out of Lindsey's old office. His new office.
"Sweetie!" he grinned, coming out to high five Dean. "I missed your eyes."
~*~*~*~
Faith arched her back, straightening up as she yawned.
She touched Sam's hand lightly.
Dean
"Heeeeeeeeeey Spike!" Dean high fived him back.
"How's my favorite dead person been?"
Spike
"Terrible, without you," Spike joked.
He made a rocking motion with his hand.
"Eh, this and that. Peaches had some staff issues. All up, I probably had a better week than your brother. And the cowboy, come to think of it."
Dean
"Cowboy?" Dean raised an eyebrow, grabbing his bag again and heading towards his designated visiting quarters.
"And yeah, Sam gets lonely when I leve. I don't know how he lives without me," he chuckled.
Spike
"Lindsey," Spike clarified.
He shrugged.
"Lives dangerously. Guess you didn't get the messages from the Rogue?"
Dean
"Man," Dean whistled, "I don't think I even turned my phone on. I really need to go back there more often, the girls are hot!"
Spike
Spike grinned his approval.
"Yeah? Well, you might want to hit up the hospital wing. Come on, I'll take you."
Dean
"Huh?" Dean frowned, dumping his bag in the door to his room, before following where Spike led.
Spike
"Your brother," Spike shrugged. "He's in the hospital."
He started for the elevator.
Dean
"What?!" Dean demanded, stepping around in front of Spike and putting his hand on the wall to block him.
"Details. Now."
Spike
Spike held his hands up.
"I don't know all the details," he said, shrugging. "I know it has something to do with Lindsey. Captain Forehead is off firing him now, I believe. And the Darkling is in with your brother."
Dean
Dean's face drained of colour, as he took a step back.
"Lead the way," he said, face dead serious.
Spike
"Right-o."
Spike jabbed at the elevator buttons, then stepped in when the doors opened.
He swiped a card and punched in a few numbers, before the elevator started ascending.
Dean
"This elevator needs some music," Dean murmured, looking up and around.
Spike and Faith
"Yeah, Tall-dark and dreary doesn't like the music elevators play," Spike commented.
"And coz he's kind of the castle, well, you know."
The doors opened and Spike led the way down to the hospital wing where Sam was.
~*~*~*~
Faith poured a glass of water and set it down on Sam's bedside table, pausing for a second to brush some of his hair from his face.
Dean & Sam
"It could use some Metallica," Dean muttered, pausing in his stride as he came to the room.
He peered around the corner, seeing Faith first. And then his brother, who looked unconscious.
Being quiet in case he was just sleeping, Dean walked slowly into the room, and to the side of the bed.
Faith and Spike
Faith looked up as Dean and Spike entered.
"Hey," she said, careful not to wake Sam.
Spike nodded.
Dean & Sam
Breathing a little easier now that Faith was obviously being quiet, Dean leaned forward a little and touched Sam's shoulder.
Sam's eyes opened slowly as if he instinctively knew he were there.
"Heya Sammy," Dean smiled a little.
Sam's eyes opened further, and he turned hs head to look up.
"Dean?" his brow furrowed.
"What the hell did you do to yourself?" Dean teased.
Faith and Spike
"Angel?" Faith asked Spike.
"Boss man is out attending to some business, as I understand it," Spike replied. "But in brighter news, Sunshine, guess who finally got an office?"
Faith grinned at that. "Officially on Team Angel. Well done?"
Dean & Sam
"Seriously, dude, I can't leave you alone for a single week?" Dean's eyebrows rose, "how the hell did he get the jump on you?"
"I was walking back... it was dark..." Sam frowned, his voice still just above a whisper, "I didn't see him there..."
"It's ok," Dean assured, his voice lowering, "just tell me what he did to you."
Spike and Faith
"I might get outta here," Spike said, gesturing to the door. "This isn't really my place."
He moved towards the door.
"Glad you're ok, Pip. See ya round."
"Hey, I might come with," Faith said, catching up to him. "Um... leave you boys alone?"
Dean & Sam
"Thanks," Dean nodded over his shoulder.
"Faith," Sam's voice rose as far as he could push it, which wasn't far.
Faith
Faith turned around.
"Yeah?"
Sam & Dean
"Don't."
"I think loverboy doesn't want you to go," Dean said for him, before looking back at Sam, "but tough, cos we need to talk."
"Dean..."
"Sam, seriously. Just a few minutes. Please."
Faith
Faith moved back over to the bed and pressed her lips against Sam's forehead gently.
"I'll come back in a few minutes," she said, before kissing him again.
She straightened up, nodded at Dean, and left the room quietly.
Sam & Dean
Sam sighed as she left, and Dean scooted into her seat.
"Tell me what happened," he said seriously.
Sam looked up at him, before turning his eyes down again.
"He wanted my blood," he said, lifting his right hand to scratch his nose.
"You mean he wanted your powers," Dean clicked.
"Yeah."
"How did he know about them?" Dean frowned.
"Wesley. Only person I can think of that knew it all."
Dean's teeth clenched, and he took a deep breath.
"So what, he tried to bleed you to death or something? Did you lose a lot?" Dean attempted to calm down for Sam's sake.
"No," Sam shook his head a little, "at first he just cut, but then he just stabbed me when Faith and Angel showed."
"How did he think it was going to work?" Dean frowned.
"He had some ritual devised. First time it didnt work, but it did something. Second time, we never found out if it did."
"Where is he?"
"I don't know."
Dean nodded, then got up to step out of the room.
"Dean be careful," Sam watched after him.
Dean left the room, looking down the hall until he found Faith.
"Hey!" he called her back.
Faith
Faith tucked her phone back into her pocket and walked back towards Sam's room.
"Mmm?"
Dean
"Where's Lindsey? What happened to him?" Dean demanded.
Faith
"At a guess? Bleeding somewhere to death," Faith said, walking into the room and moving over to Sam again.
"Angel's taking care of it."
Dean
"That's not good enough," Dean said between his teeth, turning to leave.
He headed for the elevator, wondering where the hell he'd left his phone.
Faith
Faith glanced at Sam, laying her hand over his.
"Do you want me to go so you can sleep again?"
Sam
"I'm so sick of sleeping," Sam almost whined, but closed his eyes anyway.
"I need to be hunting."
Faith
Faith perched on the side of Sam's bed gently, and squeezed his hand lightly.
"Sorry, Sammich, not for awhile. But," she said, leaning down and kissing his cheek. "If you're a good boy, we'll play doctor."
Sam
"Not the time Faith," Sam said softly, grabbing onto her hand a bit better and so he could squeeze back.
Faith
Faith smiled and brushed her lips across his lightly.
"How are you feeling today?"
Sam
"Better now," Sam smiled slightly.
Faith
Faith touched his cheek lightly and kissed him again.
"Get some rest, honey. I'll be right here with you."
Sam
"Thankyou," Sam breathed, blinking again before closing his eyes for good and drifting off to sleep again.
