Sam picked up his phone and dialled Dean's number, hoping he wouldn't catch him at an... inopportune moment.
"Yeah?
"Dean?" Sam frowned in confusion, hearing the steady hum of the car in the background, "where are you?"
"I'm skipping town for a day or two."
Sam's eyebrows rose.
"Thanks for telling me."
"One of them found out about my deal, Sammy. I'm not gonna sit through another debate of can we/can't we."
"Does Faith know?"
"No. But they'll probably tell her. Either way I don't care. I'll be back soon and if she wants to see me it's cool, otherwise no big."
"Dean..."
"You didn't call to talk booty Sam, what's going on?"
Sam sighed.
"I've been in Wesley's library all day and I've found a few interesting things. About Lilith, and about hell hounds. We've found an incantation so that if a hound shows up you won't be the only one able to see it."
"And that helps us how?"
"Well it's a start. I mean if I can see it I can attack it, you know."
"With what Sam?"
"Well... there's always Ruby's knife."
"Forget it. What do you have on Lilith?"
"Dean, what if this is what Ruby meant? If we kill the hellhound first it can't kill you."
"Then something else probably will, I said forget it. Lilith."
"Not much more than we already know," Sam shook his head, "but there's a couple of summoning rituals and some defensive charms used to ward her off."
"Again, this is going to help us how?"
"It's a start, Dean," Sam frowned, holding himself back from adding 'what are you doing about it?'.
"We need more. I'm gonna head to Bobby's and see if I can dig up anything on the way."
"Call me if you get anything," Sam insisted.
"I will. See you in a few days."
