"Boss?" Harmony's voice piped through the intercom. "Um, Lindsey McDonald here for you."
Angel nodded slightly and put down the book he'd been flipping through. He cleared his throat slightly, then hit the button, telling Harmony to show him in.
Seconds later, Lindsey pushed the door open and came to a stop in front of Angel's desk.
"Angel," the other man greeted.
"Take a seat," Angel replied.
Lindsey complied, sitting down in the armchair and crossing his legs. His fingers steepled together.
"So," Angel started, lifting up a file from the corner of his desk. "You... you want to come back?"
"What can I say?" The Texan drawled. "Can't stay away from this place. Also, I think you'll find that I am coming back, whether I want to or not."
Angel regarded him for a long moment. "The way Lilah was?"
Lindsey nodded. "Evidently, it's not as easy to get out of this place as I thought. And even though I have displeased the Senior Partners at times, they want me to make good on my contract. So, until they decide to get rid of me forever, you're looking at your newest defence attorney."
"Alright," Angel finally replied, after spending a few minutes thinking about all that had transpired since he had first met Lindsey. "I'll need some time to organise - "
"That's it?" Lindsey asked, a little dumbfounded. "Don't get me wrong, I'm willing to come back and everything, but I would've thought there'd be some hesitation on your behalf. Especially after... well... everything that's happened, really. I would think there'd be no trust between us."
The vampire smiled a little. "Don't get me wrong, I still don't trust you completely, but seeing as I have little choice in the matter... you're in a binding contract, one that I, or Gunn, can't help you break because it goes above all of us. Of course, if you do go all evil again, I will kill you."
"Naturally," Lindsey replied, quite seriously.
"You know that Eve has been stripped of her powers?" Angel questioned.
"I haven't seen her since," Lindsey replied honestly. "I think the Senior Partners did really kill her."
"I'm not so sure," Angel said, leaning back in his chair. "But that's another matter altogether. In the meantime, I'll organise to get your office set up. Gunn is currently working with your old list of clients - along with Lilah's, and I daresay he could use the help. Next month... sound alright?"
"Sounds peachy," Lindsey answered, a trace of sarcasm in his voice. "8am sharp, right?"
"Get out of here."
