I feel... relieved

Written by Nessa

Bobby

Bobby flipped through the channels, a look of boredom on his face. "Hanky, you should talk to the Professor about getting cable down here."

Hank didn't look up from his research. "Yes, but I, myself, do not watch much television. So, that would mean I would be asking for you."

"And your point?"

Hank smiled, still working. "Did you talk to Julie?"

A sigh came from behind him.

"Bobby?"

"Yeah," Bobby replied, quietly. "I'm selling the apartment. We've decided... we're going to try this being friends thing. She's moved in with Zac."

"And how do you feel?"

"Surprisingly good," the younger mutant said. "I mean, it's not a great feeling, knowing your marriage is over, but... I feel ok. I feel optimistic about the future. I feel... I feel... relieved. Is that a horrible thing to say?"

Hank turned and looked at his friend with kind eyes peering over his glasses. "Not at all, Bobby. Not at all. In fact, it is natural you would feel that way, particularly if it was a main cause of stress over the last few months. Just because you feel a little relieved does not mean that you are over the moon at this decision."

"I just... I don't know. I really don't." Bobby was quiet for a long moment. "Can I have a twinkie? I'm pouring my heart out here!"

Hank smiled and got up to get the box from his office. "Come on, my friend. Let us eat twinkies and you can pour your heart out."

"You're a good friend," Bobby told him, slipping off the bed and following him.
