Faith woke up to buzzing, followed by some unnaturally loud beeping on the bedside table.
"Ugh..."
She rubbed her eyes and reached for the phone.
"Mmm?"
"Faith?" Wesley's voice sounded harried over the line.
"Wes, to what do I owe the pleasure?" the brunette sat up, pushing her hair out of her face.
"We have a problem."
"Happy New Year to you too." She sighed. "Ok, what's the what?"
"Angel's missing."
Faith was mid yawn when her eyes snapped fully open. "What?"
"It seems Angelus had a few debts to pay with Paymon," Wesley rushed out. "And - "
"Wait, who?"
"Paymon," Wesley replied patiently. "He's a King of a Hell dimension. He commands 200 legions of demons - they're scattered through Hell and Earth and - "
"And Angelus somehow managed to piss him off." Faith looked at her watch. Somehow, a coffee would've helped her digest this information easily. "So... he's taken Angel. Does he know Angel and Angelus aren't really the same person - vampire?"
"It's really not his concern. He wants payment and he wants it now, so he's given Wolfram and Hart an ultimatum. Gunn's working on it, and meanwhile, my research puts the base in Iowa - "
Faith briefly thought about where she was and the rest of the country, geographically. "Ok."
"I'm headed out there," Wesley told her.
"No need, got it covered." Faith snapped the phone shut before she could hear him protest and started packing.
Right, head to Iowa, kick some ass, save her mentor, and hopefully be home in time for dinner.
