Afternoon outing

Written by Joy and Michelle

Warren, Ducky, Jean and Theresa

Warren was going in to Xavier's to log some Danger Room time with the X-men, and Ducky thought she and Wes would come along for a visit. As they came into the mansion, Ducky saw Jean in one of the sitting rooms reading Joyce a story.

"Hey Jeannie," Ducky said, going to give her friend a hug.

"Ducky! It's so good to see you! Oh, hi Wes," she said. We waved to Jean from his baby stroller.

"Hihi!" he said.

"Wes!" Joyce said. The almost 2-year old jumped down and ran over to hug her friend.

"Joyjoy!" the 1-year-old said happily.

"So, how are things going?" Jean asked Ducky.

"Pretty good. Wes started flying recently. Found him on top of the bookshelf in the nursery."

"They do grow up fast," Jean said. "This one likes to make her dolls dance." Joyce beamed.

The two moms talked for a while, Theresa came by and saw Ducky and decided to come and say hi.

"Hey Ducky! Been too long," she said, hugging her friend.

"You too. How goes it?"

"I've finally mastered flying," the Irish girl beamed. "Da comes up from time to time visit. He's been working with me. makes me all happy-like."

"Very cool," Ducky said. "You're not the only who's learned how to fly," she said, gesturing to her son.

"Already?" Terry asked, surprised "He's only a year old."

"Yeah, we were shocked, too."

Rogue and Shannon

"Well, I have to say I'm glad we have that sorted," Rogue was saying to Shannon as they walked up the hallway.

"As am I," Shannon agreed, adjusting Briar's seat on her hip.

"Now I don't feel like a - Oh hi!" Rogue waved to the visitors. "Warren! Ducky! It's been ages!"

Warren and Ducky

"Hey, Rogue, Shannon," Warren grinned. "Well, I'm off to the Danger Room to work with Scott." Ducky leaned over to kiss him.

"Rogue, Shannon. Good to see you guys again," Ducky said. "And you too Briar," Ducky grinned.

Rogue and Shannon

"Buh buh!" Briar giggled, waving a fat hand at Ducky. "Pitty."

"At least she likes someone around here," Rogue said.

"Aww, she likes you," Shannon assured her. "Your aura just makes her nervous. All those personalities."

Ducky and Jean

"Thank you, Briar," Ducky grinned.

"Bri!" Wes said slipping out of his buckle and flying a foot or so above his stroller.

"He's quite talented," Jean said.

Rogue and Shannon

"Oh! He flies too," Rogue exclaimed, then shook her head with a giggle. "I don't know why I'm surprised."

Briar wriggled out of Shannon's grasp and floated over to Wes.

Theresa and Jean

"Well, he does have wings," Terry pointed out. "They're so cute together," she giggled.

"I say they're a match made in heaven," Jean agreed.

Wes reached out for Briar's hands.

Rogue and Shannon

Briar touched Wes' hands and managed to hold them as well as a one-year-old could hold anything.

"Buh-buh?"

"Oh, Jean, we found out why she keeps freaking out around certain people," Shannon said. "I taught her an elven spell that would show me what she's seeing. She doesn't look at people and see people as you and I see them. She sees their aura instead."

"Hence why she so shy around me. Can you imagine why my aura must look like with all those differnt personalities?" Rogue asked wryly.

Thersea and Ducky

Terry grinned. The two 1-year-olds were so adorable, hovering in the air like that.

"So, Shannon, Rogue, what have you been up to lately?" Ducky asked.

Shannon and Rogue

"Nothing much," Shannon replied.

"Did you hear Remy and I got engaged?" Rogue asked excitedly.

Ducky and Jean

"Yes," Ducky grinned, "But it's all good. Have you guys set a date yet?" she asked her friend.

"Yeah, I want to know too," Jean said.

Rogue and Shannon

"Sadly, no," Rogue said. "Probably sometime in the new year, I guess, unless we get tired of waiting and decide to elope. But yeah, currently having the big vs small wedding dilemma at the moment."

"I think I would prefer a small wedding myself," Shannon said thoughtfully.

Jean

"Start small," Jean said, "Because small weddings will always become big weddings, especially when you realise all the friends you need to invite. It's better to let a small wedding get a bit bigger, than to start with a big wedding, and try to make it smaller."

Rogue and Briar

"That's a good point," Rogue said thoughtfully.

Briar decided that now would be a good time to tickle Wes.

Wes, Theresa and Ducky

Wes squealed and giggled, and then tickled Briar back.

"I seriously think those two are the cutest pair I've ever seen," Terry declared.

"They do make a cute couple," Ducky remarked to Shannon.

Shannon

"They are," Shannon agreed. "Briar! Don't fly too far away, honey."

Briar heeded her mother and stopped flying quite so high in her game of tickle tag with Wes.

Theresa and Ducky

"Twenty years from now, if they get married, you're going to have to staple them to the ground," Terry said, with a giggle. Ducky laughed.

'I dunno, think we'll be in-laws in 20-odd years, Shannon?"

Shannon and Rogue

"I do not know," Shannon replied, smiling. "Sometimes when children grow up together they think of each other as siblings rather than dates."

Rogue chuckled.
