Natalie arrived home from work and looked forward to sitting down and putting up her sore feet. She opened up the door...
"Surprise!"
And nearly jumped in shock.
In the living room was her mother, her friends, and some of her other family members. Lauren ran up to her.
"Welcome to your very own baby shower."
"Oh!" Natalie exclaimed, clasping her hands to her chest. "Oh... you didn't have too..."
"We wanted to," Lauren said, leading Natalie to a lounge chair.
"Oh... thank you very much."
So while Natalie did get to rest her feet, she also got some time to spend with her female friends and family. They played games and shared jokes and stories. Her mother shared stories about when Natalie was a baby - causing her no end of embarrassment.
Then came the opening of her presents, and Natalie was not at all short of thank yous, hugs and kisses in return for all the useful things they brought her, including some non-gender specific clothing. Natalie wanted to be surprised, so she didn't what the baby was going to be yet.
"And how's your dear husband doing?" asked Haley.
"He's good."
"And the tour?"
"Good too. Tay calls me whenever he has a free moment," Natalie paused. "And it's not the middle of the night over here or something."
Haley giggled.
