Airlia stared at Wesley with betrayal in her eyes, her fingers quivering as she absently traced over the page.
"Why didn't anyone ever tell me?" she managed to get out, her voice catching in her throat.
"It was never certain," Wesley replied quietly. "I know this is a shock, but - "
"Why didn't my Mom tell me?" Airlia interrupted. "Aren't mothers meant to be honest with their kids?"
"She handled it in the best way she thought she could," Wesley said, reaching out to touch her arm.
Airlia jerked out of his reach. "By just not telling me that one day I'd star in an apocalypse? She thought she'd just let me grow up and walk into that situation, did she?"
"Airlia." Wesley sighed. "Up until I found this text, there was nothing that was definite about the situation. We had simply thought it was just a threat, something that Faith - your mother - could protect you from."
She turned away from the Watcher, her brilliant green eyes flashing dangerously. Slowly, she rose from her seat and walked over to the window, staring down at the busy LA city streets below Wolfram and Hart.
What a way to end a holiday, Airlia thought wryly.
She'd been touring Europe with her friends and her sister, before receiving a phonecall from Wesley saying it was urgent she came back to LA. Her first reaction was to think something had happened to her mom... but this was so much worse. She could possibly be evil. And no one told her. Not even her own family.
"Would you like me to get your mother over here? Or Angel, perhaps?" Wesley questioned, his tone gentle.
"No," Airlia replied. "I just want to be alone."
