Future Plans

Written by Michelle

Friday

Eron Hart XV exited the Church after the service and trotted after Friday.

"Hey, you're back," he greeted her.

"Yep, last night," Friday replied.

"How was the holiday?"

"Good. Crowded, but good. About time I saw the sights in the country."

Eron chuckled.

"Well, it's good to have you back."

"Why, thank you. One more year of school. Goody."

Eron chuckled.

"Same. Got any plans for afterwards?"

Friday shrugged as the two sat down on a garden bench.

"I could probably make a fortune giving transexuals sex changes."

Eron blinked.

"Okay..."

Friday grinned at him.

"Not expecting that answer?"

"No, not really."

"I wouldn't have to go to school any more. Plus they could retain their fertility, so they could actually have kids, unlike a human sex change."

"This is true, I suppose."

"Need a job of some sort," Friday shrugged. "Pity I can't get paid for being a slayer, huh? I'm thinking of getting a job in Australia. The hours are better and you get paid holidays."

Eron laughed.

"What about you?"

"Gonna take my vows and become a paladin as soon as I've graduated," he said determindly. "Say, once I've gone through the ceremony, you wanna go patrolling together? Together, demons everywhere would be terrified to face us."

It was Friday's turn to laugh.

"Sure," she said. "But, I warn you, slaying makes me hungry and horny. You prepared to deal with that?"

"I vow on my honour not to take advantage," he said solomnly.

"That's not what I asked."

They looked at each other, Eron raised his eyebrows and Friday laughed.

"Don't mind me. Been friends with Julie and Zac too long, I reckon. I think I shall go to the tourist traps again after I graduate," Friday mused. "Except go when it's not school holidays. I think Disneyland would be so much better on a non-crowded day."

"Probably."

"Ever been?"

"No."

"You should before you decide to take a vow of industry," Friday recommended. "Otherwise you'll never go unless we discover a demon has set up shop in Space Mountain or something."

Eron chuckled. He leaned back on the bench and rested his arms on the back.

"So, anything exciting happen since I've been away? Other than Becky dying. That's sucky. No pun intended."

"That's really the only major thing," Eron replied.

"Didja ever catch the vampires responsible?"

"Nope."

"Hmm. They never did catch Scott or Leo either," Friday replied. "I fought them once."

"Oh?"

"Yeah, I killed, hmm, four, maybe five of their crew? I scared them off after I killed Adam. Apparently he dated Zac's sister Jessica. So sad. If pretty-boy Leo hadn't gone and done his time teleporting thing..."

"What did he do?"

"He and the rest of their crew disappeared. Actually I was pretty inexperienced back then. I'm probably lucky they were fairly new to the whole vampire thing, despite their claim of already killing two slayers. That was before I had my sai-stakes. If I had them, it may have turned out differently."

"So, that was the only thing Leo did with his power? He didn't do any time-dodging?"

"Never even touched Leo, or Scott. They were letting their childer do the dirty work."

"Ahh."

"Why?"

"I just wanted to know what to expect. Y'know, just in case."

Friday nodded.

"It was over a year ago now. They made have changed or learned new tactics by now," she said. "I know I have."

"True. I'd still like to know how his power works, though."

"You and me both. Maybe, if we haven't dealt with him before, that can be our first mission together: tracking and killing Leo and Scott."

"Sounds like a plan."

"Does, doesn't it?"

The two grinned at each other, and in the moment that followed Eron leaned over and kissed her. Friday hesitated for only a moment before kissing him back.

"Sorry," Eron said, suddenly pulling away.

"Why?" Friday asked. "I'm not."

Silence. Then Eron leaned over and kissed her again.
