The moon hung low in the sky, looking like it was almost going to come crashing down to earth at any moment, providing a large amount of light for the couple creeping amongst the headstones, hunting for demons.
It had been a slow night.
"Slow," Kim observed.
"Yeah," Faith responded.
"Call it?"
"Yeah."
"Hey, Faith?"
For the first time, Faith turned to look at him. "Mmm?"
"This isn't working, is it?"
"Well, slaying is tricky."
"That's not what I meant."
"I know."
They fell into silence for a long moment, both unable to look at each other.
"We had fun."
"We did," Faith agreed. She stepped forward and lay her hand on his chest, looking up at him, her eyes slightly clouded with tears she'd never shed. "Thanks for the laughs."
"You too."
Kim bent slightly and placed a kiss on her forehead, before disappearing into the night.
