Make up #1

Written by Michelle

Isaac and Nikki

Nikki has settled into a routine with her mark. The man didn't seem capable of spontenaety, but Nikki didn't mind. It wasn't like she was romantically attached to the guy or anything. Of course, every now and then she liked to do something different to keep him interested. After all, it was her job to stay right there in his back pocket, learning all she could about his life, and more importantly, his work.

She couldn't deny, though, that she missed romance. She wished that she hadn't broken up with Isaac. And she had most certainly been rude when she -

"Ike?"

Isaac turned around.

"Oh. hey Nikki," he said. "Long time, no see."

Silence.

"I'm sorry," she said. "I'm sorry I broke up with you like that. It was just... a really, really bad time for you to call me right then, and my work, umm, conditions were changing and -"

"It's okay," Isaac replied flatly, making a show of inspecting the fruit in the grocery store. "I get it."

"I'm sorry."

"You mentioned that."

More silence.

"I have shopping to do," Isaac said.

"Yes. So do I," Nikki replied.

The two parted, separate ways down the asile. Only to meet up again in another one.

"You're mad at me."

"You broke up with me, gave no explanation, and hung up in my ear. Yes, you could say I'm just a little ticked off."

"I'm sorry! It was a bad time -"

"You said that already."

"I know," Nikki looked down at the floor. "I... I... I don't suppose you could forgive me? M-maybe we could try again? I miss you Ike."

Isaac looked at Nikki. She was beginning to think he had fallen asleep, standing up with his eyes open, when he finally spoke:

"I miss you too," he admitted.

Nikki allowed herself a smile.

"Then... then do you suppose we could... we could..."

"How about dinner? Friday night?"

Nikki's face lit up.

"Sure!" she said.

"Pick you up at seven?"

"Sounds great."

"Yeah," Isaac smiled.

And to seal the deal, Isaac leant over and kissed her gently.
