I'm Burning Up

Written by Nessa and Michelle

Avery and Airlia

Avery opened the door of Airlia's car, one stillettoed foot stepping out onto the pavement, followed by the second one. She ducked slightly, careful not to muss her artfully styled hair. Messy blonde curls cascaded down her bare back, bits of hot pink woven through. Her tanned shoulders were bare, body clad in a black halter necked dress, so short it should've been a shirt. Silver stillettos that tied up to her mid calf finished the ensemble, bright pink toenails peeping out to match her fingernails.

Airlia laughed at something Avery had said, sliding gracefully out of the driver's seat. She closed the door with a flourish and locked it, slipping the keys into her little bag, stepping around to walk with Avery. Her long wavy brown hair was casually brushed from her eyes. She tugged slightly at the barely there dress, an almost sheer black slip dress with silver sequins sewn tastefully along it. She tottered over to Avery in her black high heels and they giggled together again, before heading for the entrance to the club.

"Hey Darryl," Airlia greeted the bouncer, giving a winning smile while Avery worked her telepathy. "Piper here?"

"Hey Lia, yeah, she's in there. Don't get into too much trouble, yeah? Oh and say hi to your mom," he replied, stepping back to allow the two underage girls entrance.

"Thanks, and I will," Airlia called back, she and Avery heading inside.

"That was awesome work," Avery praised.

They giggled again, clasping hands as they entered P3. Airlia led them over to the bar, where they ordered some drinks - aided by Airlia's magic - downing a few, before slightly tipsy, the headed to the dancefloor.

"I am so glad I came to stay with Zac this weekend," Avery laughed, twirling around, hands raised above her head.

"Same, this is so much better than staying at home," Airlia replied, hands ghosting over her chest as her hips swayed seductively to the music.

A few hours, dances, and boys later, Airlia and Avery were deposited out the front of Zac's house by a taxi. They paid and clambered out, giggling and trying - very unsuccessfully - to be quiet.

"How funny was it when that guy was trying to like do the backflip?" Airlia practically snorted, inserting the key into the keyhole.

"And he was just like on the floor all confused!" Avery added, leaning on the other girl for support, huge giggles racking her body.

The two girls were biting their hands, desperately trying not to wake the babies when they entered the house. No longer drunk, not even slightly tipsy, just revelling in the fun they'd had while they'd been out.

Of course, Zac wouldn't be too impressed if they woke the whole house on the way back in. Considering, they'd also snuck into a club underage, had drinks, and were barely legal and wearing little more than washcloths... it would be best to avoid him.

They snuck into Airlia's room that she'd been sharing with Tru. Tru was out at a friends house staying the night, so Airlia and Avery grabbed some clothes and headed for the bathrooms. One showering upstairs, the other down, meeting in the kitchen, now dressed in pyjamas and ready for a late night/early morning snack while they watched tv.

Avery shook out her long blonde hair, spraying Airlia with droplets of water. "So, what's there to eat?"

"Grilled cheese?" Airlia suggested, peering in the fridge.

"Hot!"

They set about making their sandwiches. Before long, the smell of cooked cheese was wafting through the house.

Airlia finished the grilling, then picked up the frying pan, heading over to the sink. On the way, she stumbled and her skin came in contact with the hot part of the pan. She let out a screech in pain.

"Oh shit, I hope no one woke up," Avery worried, grabbing a teatowel and filling it with ice, handing it to her.

Airlia was silent for a moment, ears pricked for a sound of movement. "If anything, that probably woke Saku. And maybe Zac. The babies should be fine."

Saku

Saku shot up on bed, sensitive to anything that hurt women and children. Immediately awake, he got out of bed, grabbed his dressing gown and headed downstairs to the kitchen.

"Is everyone all right?" he asked. "I heard a scream..."

Avery and Airlia

"Hey favourite nephew," Avery said, grinning as Saku entered. "Airlia just burnt her hand."

Airlia held up the hand in question, a horrible red welt already formed. "Owie. Sorry, Saku, didn't mean to wake you."

Saku

"That's okay," Saku replied. "Lemme see."

He inspected the welt and frowned.

"Sadly, while I am proficient in fire magic and even know some protection magic, I can't protect you from a burn that already happened. We should give Randy a call."

Airlia and Avery

"S'ok," Airlia said. "I heal pretty quickly."

Avery scratched her head. "I can block the pain off in your mind, if you like?"

Airlia thought for a moment. "Nah, it's cool. What doesn't kill me makes me stronger, right?"

Saku and Zac

It was at that moment that a very tired, still mostly asleep Zac entered the room.

"What's going on?" he asked.

"Nothing," Saku began.

"I heard screaming."

"Airlia hurt herself, but we're already looking after it, and she says she heals quickly. Go on back to bed, Dad."

Zac looked at everyone with tired eyes.

"What are you guys all doing up anyway?"

Airlia and Avery

Airlia and Avery shared a sort of guilty look.

"We just got h-" Airlia was cut off by Avery telepathically shutting off her voice function.

"Hungry," Avery finished, with nothing mroe than a sidelong glance at Saku. "So Airlia and I decided to get up and make some grilled cheese and watch some movies, seeing as you can't sleep straight away after cheese."

"Yeah, dairy makes you fart," Airlia said, finally realising she could speak again.

She looked at Avery quizzically, but Avery ignored her.

"Zac probably wouldn't be too impressed to hear about our night, considering you're his daughter and I'm his baby sister. Also, we're underage. So no no on the talkies," Avery whispered into her mind.

"Ahh, gotchas," Airlia replied.

"Sorry for waking you, Zacco. We could make you a grilled cheese now that you're up?" Avery suggested.

Saku and Zac

Zac blinked.

"No," he said finally. "I'm just going to go back to bed. Night girls, Saku."

"Night Dad," Saku grinned.

Zac turned and shuffled his way back to bed.

"I'll take you up on that offer," Saku said. "Mmm... cheese. Y'know what's nice? Chicken on bread with melted cheese on top. Yum, yum."

Avery and Airlia

"Add some avocado and that, my friend, is what we call a Jamiacan," Avery told Saku.

Airlia started frying up another grilled cheese. "Do you think Zac bought it?"

"Yeah," Avery replied, waving her hand dismissively. "I can always make him forget about it anyway."

Saku

"I think Dad was too tired to get anything right now," Saku replied. "If we get any reaction from him, it'll be when he actually wakes up in the morning. Either tonight - or this morning, rather - will register, and you'll have to use your ability to make him forget, or he'll be like 'I had the weirdest dream last night'. Heh."

He hoisted himself onto the counter and grinned.

Avery and Airlia

Avery laughed. "Yeah, I'll just gauge his reaction in the morning, and if it's bad, a few tweaks and all done."

"You are, hands down, the coolest aunty," Airlia replied.

Saku

"Yes, yes you are," Saku agreed. "Dad's a cool guy, but he does get a little over-protective at times."

He rolled his eyes.

Avery and Airlia

"This is true," Avery said, nodding her head in agreement.

Airlia flipped Saku's grilled cheese onto a plate. "Shall we watch movies until we pass out?"

"Yep," Avery said, hopping down off the bench and grabbing her plate and juice.

Saku

"Cool, thanks," Saku said, accepting his grilled cheese.

He lead the way into the lounge room.

"So, what do we want to watch?"

Avery and Airlia

"What do you have?" Avery asked, settling down on one of the couches. "I can't remember what Zac was into."

"You're a great sister," Airlia joked.

"I know," Avery laughed.

Saku

"Well, she does have a number of siblings to keeo track of," Saku commented. "Let me see... oh look, he's finally gotten Elektra on DVD. Ha! I knew it wouldn't be long."

He grinned at them.

"I think Dad has a Jennifer Garner fetish," he nodded. "He has everything she's in on DVD."

Avery and Airlia

"Ugh, I hate her. Mannifer Man-er," Avery said, wrinkling her nose. "Let's watch something not lame and gay."

Airlia laughed. "Wow, way to shoot down your brother."

"It's ok, he's not human. Well, actually, none of us are, but y'know."

Saku

"And it's not my taste you're insulting," Saku grinned. "It's Dad's. Okay what else have we got?"

He rummaged through their rather extensive DVD collection and started calling out titles.

Avery and Airlia

"That one," Avery said, before taking a bite of her grilled cheese. "Indiana Jones."

Airlia switched the TV on and flicked the volume down.

Saku

"Cool."

Saku put on the DVD, and settled back into the lounge to watch.
