Leave the past behind

Written by Nessa and Michelle

Avery, Tru and Airlia

After the last confrontation with JD, Avery had decided to go down to the surface for the weekend. Just to distance herself from everyone, give her some time to think. Also, she hadn't dropped in on Zac for awhile, so she figured that she should take advantage of her holidays.

So after being dropped off by her teleporter, Avery adjusted the strap of her green singlet and looked up at Zac's house. She rolled her eyes slightly at the size, then tugged the hem of her white skirt down so it was actually covering something, and headed up the steps to the front door.

Running one hand through her hair, she used the othr one to knock on the door.

It was answered seconds later by Tru.

A very grown up looking Tru. This was weird.

"Avie!" Tru exclaimed, opening the door fully to let her aunt in.

"Hey!" Avery replied, giving the other girl a hug. "I can see some things have changed a bit."

Tru laughed. "Yeah, Airz and I are kinda... older now."

"So I see," Avery mused.

"Avery?" Airlia's head peaked around the corner. "Hey there, aunty! I'm now older than you."

Avery grinned. "Evidently so. Any idea where Zac is?"

Airlia shrugged, coming over to help Avery with her bags. "Somewhere around. Got up kinda late this morning, so haven't really seen him all day."

"How long are you here for?" Tru asked, lifting one of Avery's bags.

"Just for the weekend," Avery replied. "Anyway, you guys. All old now. More fun, I think."

Tru nodded her agreement. "Definitely. Hey, Airlia, you have to drive me to Sam's in an hour."

"Yeah, cool. Feel like going for a spin?" Airlia asked Avery.

"Sure, why not?" Avery followed Tru and Airlia up to their room, where Tru started packing for going to her friend's house. "How long are you gone for?"

"Till Sunday morning," Tru replied. "Wait, when are you going to the Station?"

"Sunday or Monday. I hadn't really thought that far, I figured I'd talk to Zac, see how long he wanted to put up with me," Avery replied, perching herself on the end of Airlia's bed.

"Five by five," Airlia said, tossing her jacket over the back of a chair. "Come on, let's go find Saku and Zac."

Saku

Saku was taking a bath.

In cat form.

That's right, Saku was on his bed, looking like his Egyptain Mau self and licking himself.

Saku always felt much more cleaner after a tongue bath than a water bath.

What's more, his bedroom door was open, when anyone in the house could just walk past and look in. But what did Saku care?

Airlia, Avery and Tru

Airlia started leading the other two girls through the house, in the direction of Saku's room. He'd most likely know where to find Zac.

"Hey Saku..." Airlia stopped short, as she noticed he was grooming himself.

Avery snickered. "Hey hey, favourite nephew."

Tru laughed.

Saku

Saku looked up at them from cleaning his, umm, back legs... ahem. His tongue was partically sticking out of his mouth. He made a little huffing noise, then promptly changed to human (fully clothed).

"Yes, go on, look at me with those little smirks on your faces," Saku responded. "But I shall have the satisfaction of knowing that my tongue was naturally designed for cleaning my person, and does a much better job than any shower, with your manufactured soap that contaminates you with chemicals even if it does removes the smell and the dirt. So, what can I do for you, favourite Auntie?"

Avery and Airlia

"Was wondering if you know where my favourite brother is," Avery said, smiling.

"Oh man, we didn't tell you about what we did to Zac the day Tru and I got here," Airlia giggled.

Saku

"Zac's in the music room," Saku replied. "You can't hear him because the House sound-proofed it for him. This way he can record solo songs and practice without getting extra noices on the track or waiting the babies. But I thought your favourite brother was Taylor?"

He grinned at Airlia.

Avery and Airlia

"Nah, Taylor's too brotherly for him to be my favourite. Zac's more like a friend. Just how a brother should be," Avery pointed out.

She paused.

"What did you do to him?"

Airlia giggled. "We messed with his head a bit."

Saku

"We made him think that Airlia and I were having sex," Saku nodded. "And, best of all, we got him to thinking we weren't doing anything abnormal with each other and that he just has a dirty mind."

Saku's eyes sparkled with mishchief.

Avery, Airlia and Tru

Avery snorted, as Airlia burst out laughing again.

"It was so good."

Tru sighed. "Poor Zac."

Saku

"I still think he brings it on himself," Saku replied. "Anyway, if you guys want to talk to him, just invite yourself in. And don't worry if you interupt him and he throws a drumstick at your head, because he always misses."

He nodded knowlingly.

Avery and Airlia

Avery laughed. "Yeah, I know. He can't aim, as long as you're coming right for him."

Airlia looked interested. "Really?"

"Yeah, he totally sucked at baseball when we were kids."

Saku and Zac

"And he still sucks," Saku confirmed.

"Who sucks?" Zac asked, joining them. "Avie!"

He closed he distance and gave his sister a huge hug.

"Hey, long time no see."

Avery, Airlia and Tru

"Hey faceache," Avery greeted, hugging Zac back. "It's been awhile."

Airlia and Tru watched the siblings with amusement, wondering if they'd ever be as close to Saku and the rest of Zac's kids, as the Hanson's all appeared to be.

"Avery went to the Bahamas!" Tru said excitedly. "We're so going to persuade Mom to take us there."

Zac and Saku

"Cool," Zac said. "I believe Julie and Bobby got married there. What else have you been doing lately? And what brings you to my humble abode?"

"Can I come with when you go?" Saku asked.

Avery and Airlia

"Hmmm, well, do you remember the guy I took to Tay's wedding? JD?" Avery said, noticing how her stomach hurt when she said JD's name. "We broke up, then I went to the Bahamas, um, came home for like a day, then went back to the Station. And just kinda felt like I hadn't seen you in ages."

She paused.

"Also, wanted to show you my nose! Which no longer looks like yours!"

Airlia giggled.

Zac and Saku

"Ah ha!" Zac declared. "I knew there was something different."

He appraised his sister for a moment.

"JD didn't hurt you did he? Because if he did, I'm just going to have to hunt him down and kick his butt."

"I'll help!" Saku added.

Avery

"Feel free," Avery told Zac, shrugging.

She wondered if she should tell him the thing she had been keeping from Taylor. Mainly because she knew Taylor would kill her, whereas Zac probably wouldn't be as disappointed in her, on account of his own sexual history.

Zac and Saku

"Oh, he did, did he?" Zac frowned. "Okay, where can I find him?"

Saku stared at his dad. Hey, he was serious!

Avery

Avery brushed his hand away to fix her hair, then paused, mid preen.

"Um, Zac? If I tell you something, will you promise not to tell mom or dad and especially not Tay? Tay gets funny about this kinda stuff. Remember when he slept with Mouse? Oh gee, that was a long time ago, wasn't it? Anyway..."

Zac

"Anything you tell me in confidence, stays in confidence," Zac replied.

He looked at Saku, Tru and Airlia.

"Did you want to go somewhere private?"

Avery, Airlia and Tru

"No need. Telepath, remember?" Avery reminded him, then opened up a private link with Zac's mind.

Airlia looked between the siblings curiously, while Tru fidgeted with the edge of her shirt, lost in her own world.

"Um... JD and I slept together. Don't kill me!"

Zac

Zac stared. His mind seemed to explode with thoughts:

My little sister slept with someone. My little sister had sex! Why is my little sister having sex? She's only 14! Okay, albeit I was 15 when I first had sex but that's not the point. I'm going to kill JD.

It was about then that he realised that Avery could probably hear everything he was thinking.

"Umm, sorry," he thought. "I'm not going to kill you, because hey, who am I to talk? But I make no promises about JD if we ever cross paths again. At least I continued to hang around the girls I had sex with. Unless we were on tour..."

And Zac cut that thought off right there.

Avery, Airlia and Tru

Avery just looked at Zac for a moment, wondering if he realised she could hear everything he was thinking.

"He didn't break up with me right after it, Zac," she told him.

Airlia and Tru were still looking back and forth between them. The silence was killing them.

Zac and Saku

"So, why did he break up with you?" Zac asked.

"Okay, right so," Saku said, breaking the silence. "What do you gals think of... umm... stuff. I think stuff is good myself..."

Avery and Airlia

"I don't actually know," Avery admitted. "And I couldn't bring myself to snoop inside his head."

"Nah, stuff sucks," Airlia replied.

Zac and Saku

"Huh. Well, if you ever do find out, and it turns out to be some lame-o excuse, lemme know so I can beat him up," Zac thought to Avery.

"But... but you can do so much stuff with stuff," Saku replied.

Avery, Airlia and Tru

"I will, thanks Zacco," Avery replied.

"Yeah, but it's still really average," Airlia told Saku.

"I agree. I like THINGS, better than STUFF," Tru chimed in.

Zac and Saku

"No problem," Zac said aloud.

"Well, la-de-dah," Saku replied. "Aren't we fancy?"

Avery, Airlia and Tru

"Awesome. Well, I'm kinda hungry and itching for sushi," Avery announced.

"Mmmm," Airlia agreed, eyes glazing over. "Sushi. It's like my anti drug."

Tru snorted.

Zac and Saku

"Fish!" Saku beamed. "That's my second favourite food, next to chicken."

He did a little dance.

"Okay..." Zac said. "I didn't realise that you got so excited about sushi."

"Fiiiish."

"What am I saying? It's the only take-away fish you get raw, and you're a cat!"

Saku chuckled.

Avery and Airlia

"Mmm, I could go some sashimi," Avery said, then paused. "But I want some tuna sushi. And some chicken ones."

"Oooh, sweet egg, and and and vegetable boat," Airlia put in. "Ok, that cinches it, we're going to Sushi Train."

"Awesome," Avery replied. "But I want to change first, this outfit isn't fun enough."

And with that, she flounced in the direction of her room.

Zac and Saku

"Whoo hoo!" Saku cheered.

"I guess I'll go get my keys and my wallet," Zac smiled.
