Cause I know I don’t belong here in Heaven

Wendy

It was late evening, almost midnight when Wendy stopped the car across the street from Zac's place. She looked at the backseat where her baby lay, then put her head on the steering wheel and cried.

After a few minutes, Wendy got out of the car. She opened up the back door, pulled out a bag and slung it over her shoulder. Then she pulled her baby girl out, and placed her in a box that she had previously prepared. The box was lined with a soft baby's quilt and a little pillow. She pulled up the edges of the quilt so that it covered her up. With a deep breath, Wendy then picked the box up.

She carried the bag and box across the street to Zac's front door, where she put them down. Tears coming into her eyes again, Wendy kissed the forehead of her sleeping daughter.

"No matter what happens," she said. "I'll always love you. And maybe, one day, we can be together again."

Wendy paused again as the tears came yet again. She took a moment to wipe them away, then slowly stood up. She stared at the door, and reluctantly moved her hand forward.

She swallowed, took a deep breath, hit the doorbell, turned and fled.

A part of her wanted to stay, to make sure that Zac got her, but she knew if she did, then he'd see her car and come out to talk to her, and she didn't want that. So as soon as Wendy made her car, she drove away.
