Friday looked around, decided this would be a good spot and sat down on the ground. She crossed her legs and rested her hands on her legs.
"What are you doing?" demanded Tiffany.
"Eron told me about this new technique they've been developing for dealing with telepathic enemies. I figure this is a good time to practice."
"You're supposed to be patrolling!"
"So are you, but I haven't seen you do anything of the sort. Mostly you seem to tag along for the ride."
Tiffany glowered at her and Friday closed her eyes and tried to think about fudge. Eron really did tell her about a new technique, but it didn't actually involve any meditation like she was giving Tiffany the impression it did. It just involved training your thoughts to revolve around someone trivial and non-battle related. Friday chose fudge. Of course, she was also trying to keep alert so that when a vampire showed up she'd be able to know how Tiffany was doing. Friday knew one would show up - she chose this place to stop especially because there were two nearby.
Sure enough, a few minutes later:
"Well, well," said one of the the vampires.
"Friday!" Tiffany shrieked.
Friday didn't budge. Not a noise came from her mouth, she didn't open her eyes, she even fought to keep the smirk from appearing on her face.
The vampires chuckled.
"I'd say your slayer-friend has abandoned you."
"Don't... don't come near me, you... you..."
The vampire closed the distance, and wrapped his arm around her waist.
"You're not much of a slayer, are you?"
"Leave me alone!"
The vampire chuckled, and move in on her neck -
"Oh eww! You've got blood on my shirt! You jerk," Tiffany accused angrily. "Do you have any idea how hard it is to wash bloodstains out?"
Friday (who had opened her eyes when the attention ceased to be on her), had been just about to intervene when Tiffany said this. She followed up her complaint with a few swift moved to get out of the vampire's grip and a swift stab with her stake through his heart. The surprised vampire had no chance to react before he dissolved into dust. Enraged, Tiffany didn't stop until she had taken down the second vampire as well
Tiffany and Friday matched eyes.
"How could you abandon me like that!" Tiffany accussed. "Look what he did to my shirt!"
Friday didn't bother to look, just kept her eyes on Tiffany's.
"What?" Tiffany demanded. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
Friday stood, remembering a conversation she had online recently.
"Come," she said. "We have more patrolling to do."
"Oh, so now she wants to patrol."
