A "Real" Date

Written by Nessa

Kim, Angel, Serafina and Faith

Kim ran a hand through his shaggy blonde hair and cleared his throat slightly. He took a deep breath and then raised his fist to knock on Faith's hotel door.

Inside, Angel quirked an eyebrow slightly, almost smiling as he rose from the chair behind the table and strode to the door.

"Faith," he called out, turning to see his daughter sitting on the bed, watching Faith.

"In a sec, just gotta grab a stake," Faith replied, bending down to rummage through the weapons chest.

"Do you think you'll need one?" Serafina asked, swinging her legs up and tucking them under her butt.

Faith shrugged. "Always be prepared," she told Angel's daughter, then straightened up, holding the weapon. She tucked it into the back of her jeans, hidden under the loose fitting, off the shoulder green shirt.

Angel shook his head, then opened the door to reveal a slightly nervous looking Kim.

"Hey, is Faith in?" Kim asked, having met Angel once before.

"Yeah, she'll be a second," Angel replied, then lowered his voice. "Hurt her and I'll hurt you, soul or not. We clear?"

Kim nodded. "Crystal."

"Hey," Faith greeted.

She squeezed past Angel and took Kim's hand, turning back to wave at Sera and her father.

"Don't wait up," she called back, as the door closed. "So... another sewer?"

Kim laughed. "No, I thought we'd go somewhere a little nicer. Unless you want to go to a sewer?"

"Dont tempt me," Faith teased, as they appeared in an alley in the town. "Handy, you being a porter and all."

"I find it rather useful, yes," Kim said, taking her arm and leading her in the direction of the restaurant where they would be having dinner.

"Reservation for two. Under Hyde," he told the maitre'd.

"Ah, yes, Mr Hyde, this way please."

They were lead to a small table in the corner, lit up with two candles, and once they were settled and had ordered their drinks, the maitre'd scampered off.

"So, travelling with a vampire, that's rather unusual in any case, but especially for a slayer," Kim started, opening his menu.

Faith laughed. "Yeah, but he's not really like other vampires and I'm not exactly like other slayers. We're kinda the definition of a "grey area"."

Hours later, Kim and Faith were taking a walk through the town, pauding to buy ice cream.

"So, is there a guy back in New York whose toes I'm treading on?" Kim asked.

Faith paused for a moment, thinking of Logan. "Not really. There was someone, but that ended when I left."

"Good."

Faith raised an eyebrow and turned to him with a smirk. "Good?"

"Yes. Good."
