Oh Please!

Faith and Kim

Faith walked side by side with Kim, almost touching but close enough not to need to.

"This is almost like a normal date," Kim commented, gesturing for her to go first.

"Almost. Except we're in a sewer," Faith replied dryly, making a face as she landed ankle deep in water.

"Technicality. Anyway, I told you I'd take you somewhere you'd feel comfortable," he joked.

"Remind me why I don't kill you?"

"Because of my boyish good looks?" Kim suggested.

"Nope, that's not it," Faith answered. "Keep finding reasons."

"Come on, you love the hunt as much as me."

"Yeah, I love wading around in the sewers. It's my idea of foreplay," Faith said, rolling her eyes.

"That's why I like you. You're a cheap date. A little sewer action and you're all over me."

"Keep finding reasons," Faith repeated. "So are you going to tell me what we're tracking?"

"A Fy'aall demon. I heard there was one in town, hoping to give the school some trouble," Kim told her.

"So let the kidlets play in the sewers. If you wanted to spend time alone with me, you could've taken me for coffee or something. You know, something normal." Faith's upper lip curled in disgust as a rat ran over her foot. "Gross."

"You know with the torchlight, it's kind of romantic." Kim grinned, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively.

"Yeah, I just love the ambience," Faith snarked.

"Oh lighten up, we might even get a good fight in."

"We better."

Faith's hand moved to the small of Kim's back, the Slayer peering around him when they stopped, and Kim smiled in spite of himself. Despite his vow to not get intimate with anyone for a long while, the more time he spent with the brunette Slayer, the more he felt his resolve crumbling.

"Do you hear that?" Faith asked, cocking her head slightly.

"Yeah," Kim almost whispered in reply.

"This way," Faith said, moving from behind him and half tip toeing around the corner.

Kim followed her lead and couldn't help admiring her for the thousandth time. She really was something else.

"Dammit, I think we lost it," Faith complained after travelling down the pipe for a few metres.

"I like you," Kim blurted out.

"Wha - ugh!" Faith was grabbed from behind as she'd turned to look at Kim. She threw her head back, hitting the skull of whatever had grabbed her, then she pushed her elbows into it's stomach and twisted round. "Not now!" She unsheathed her knife and drove it deep into the heart of the demon. Turning back to Kim she raised an eyebrow. "What now?"

Kim smiled sheepishly. "Well... why else would I ask you to track a demon which needs sunlight and would've surfaced soon anyway?"

"Dude, you really have to work on your pick up skills," Faith laughed.
