"I'm sorry I can't help you Dylan," the pretty young witch was saying, "but is being a girl really all that bad? I mean, you are a vampire, it's not like you can reproduce or anything. So you can be a girl and not have to worry about annoying things like periods. And personally, I think women are much better seducers than men. So wouldn't that make you a better neck romancer?"
She giggled.
Dylan shook her head.
"You don't get it," she said. "You don't get it at all. I'm not a girl. I'm a boy. I shouldn't have to live in this body."
The witch shrugged.
"So tell me," she said, "are you attracted to men or women?"
"I'm a vampire. That doesn't matter," Dylan stood up, "thanks for seeing me, but I've got to get going. I don't suppose you know anyone who can change me back?"
"Sorry."
"Whatever."
Dylan turned and left. It was always the same. The witches who could change her back didn't want to deal with an extra-powerful, telepathic vampire. The witches who were willing to deal with him couldn't change her back. It was very frustrating.
And what was worse, Dylan suspected something was wrong. A couple of weeks after Friday frst turn him into a girl, she had started leaking ichor from her nether regions. It seemed to stop after a few days, but then it came back again a few weeks later, and so the pattern had continued. Suffice to say this made Dylan rather nervous, and she didn't like to consider what it might mean - only that she wanted to be a boy again as soon as possible.
Last month Dylan had tried to see if she could get into the power regions of Friday's mind and force her to make the change. Sadly, her power couldn't extend any further than blocking signals going to and from the brain. She couldn't trigger her power, although she might be able to stop her using it. After their little 'discussion', Dylan was convinced that she probably wouldn't be able to trick Friday into changing her back, so it was back to the witch hunt.
Dylan hoped that he'd be able to find someone soon.
"Oh, Dylan!" the witch called suddenly.
"What?"
She hesitated.
"What?" Dylan glared at her.
"There is someone..."
"Who?"
"Well... I wouldn't recommend trying to see her unless you were absolutely desperate..."
"What do you think I am? Who?"
"Medea. I think she's in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the moment. I don't know if she would be willing to see you, but she is a bit of a legend amongst witches - she's been around for centuries, and she's very dangerous," she warned. "Very dangerous. She would definitely want something in exchange for changing you back, and if you even consider betrayal..."
The witch shuddered.
"That bad, huh?"
"Like I said, dangerous. She's been known to have some rather creative methods of killing people. Or alternatively, not killing them. Which can be worse."
"Huh."
"Like I said, only if you're absolutely desperate."
"I'll bear that in mind."
