What's the message?

Tanya

Tanya finished watching the video, a smile on her face.

"So?" Wayne asked.

"So... what?" Tanya inquired.

"What's the message?"

Tanya frowned.

"Umm... Christian wanted me to see how he's doing?"

Wayne looked exasperated.

"Look," he said, "we've had this tape for over a week, with all our best people pouring over it for Christian's hidden message. They couldn't find anything, but I know there's one in there, and you're not leaving this room until you tell me what it is."

Tanya stared at him.

"Wayne? I think you've been in security too long. The paranoia is turning your brain into mush."

Not even a hint of a smile appeared on Wayne's face, as he continued to look at her with that steady, pointed look.

"Did you even ask Courtney to have a look?" Tanya asked after a time.

"Yes."

"Did she find anything?"

"No," Wayne admitted reluctantly.

"Now, we all know that your team of code crackers are very good - "

"They don't always get everything. Such as say, the use of a particular word or phrase that sound innocent to the average person, sound perfectly normal in conversation, but really means volumes to the right person."

"Well, for once you're barking up the wrong tree," Tanya replied. "Has it ever occured to you to actually take Christian at face value? I've been telling you for years he isn't a bad kid, just misguided. And the rehab has been taking steps to give him proper guidence. We're close, and you know that. You've purposely been making it difficult for me to talk to him. I know you've been going through all his letters with a fine tooth comb. He's given you intel freely on other criminals. Has there been even one thing in everything that he's done since he's been here that give you any substancial reason to believe that he's really up to something?"

"People don't change overnight, if they change at all."

Tanya nodded slowly.

"Agreed. So don't forget his first exploit was as Little Raider."
