Stand Still, Look Pretty

Written by Nessa

Avery

Avery relaxed back against the sink, her eyes closed in contentment as the hairdresser washed the bleach from her hair. She'd already had the purple dye washed out. Next up was a new funky cut.

She was sick of her old look. It was so childish. She'd had the same haircut since she was about 6, and even when she'd dyed her hair purple, she still felt childish.

So now it was a complete image overhaul. She'd already booked in at the optometrist and was picking up her coloured contacts that afternoon. And she'd already spent a few hours sunbaking that morning.

She was going to change everything she possibly could change about herself. Hair, eyes, nose, wardrobe... everything. And she was booked in to see a plastic surgeon for the next day to discuss the cost and if she could even get it done. It was just a small bump in her nose, something she sometimes liked and thought gave her face character, but more often than not, she hated it so much she wanted to just cut it off herself.

Hopefully the procedure wouldn't be too expensive. She had a lot saved up from working various jobs and from the money Walker and Diana gave her, and if she had to, she'd beg someone for money. She wanted this procedure done.

Her best friend's sister, Marissa, had the power to alter bones, but she wasn't fully confident with messing with anything on Avery's face. She was a back up, if the rhinoplasty was too expensive.

"K, what kind of cut did you have in mind?" the hairdresser asked, bringing Avery out of her thoughts.

"Well... I thought..."

Avery eagerly explained the style she wanted, relaxing again, watching her new look start to take it's shape.
