Rachel looked at the test. Then she looked at the second test. Then she looked at the third. Dang. All positive. Including the time she'd spend in the other dimension it was still only a little over a year since she had her twins. And now she was pregnant again. For a girl who used to have no uterus, she sure was fertile. She'd blame in on the dathrians, but Mac was a mutant. Dang. She picked up the phone and called Julie.
"Julie? It's Rach."
Julie
"Hi Rach," Julie said cheerfully, boucing Joshua in her arms.
Thank goodness for her headphones with attached mic - very neccesary for making phone calls when you have six kids.
Rachel
"Guess what? I'm pregnant again," Rach said as she put her three kids in their strollers for a walk. Hands-free phone headsets were God's gift to mothers.
Julie
"Really? Hey you really are my Mini-Me," Julie joked. "Congratulations, yes? I know your marriage to MaCauley was a tad impromptu?"
Rachel
"Yeah. We really love each other though. I know it was quick, but it's working out great. I just didn't expect to get pregnant again so soon," she said, pushing the 3-child stroller down the sidewalk.
Julie
"Well, that's good. That it's working out. And I know what you're saying about pregnancies. Actually, when Bobby and i have more money coming in, we're planning on getting a nanny. Of course... we also have a world trip to save up for. Did I tell you? Bobby surprised me with a world trip for your belated honeymoon. I'm soooo excited," Julie replied.
Just thinking about it made her excited. She had to work hard to keep herself from bouncing around with the baby in her hands.
Rachel
"That's so cool!" Rachel squealed. "You know what? I know I'm not supposed to hope for one or the other, but I hope this one's a girl, so I'l have two of each," she declared.
Julie
"Who said you're not allowed to hope for a girl or a boy?" Julie demanded. "I hope for a girl or a boy every pregnancy. It would be novel just having one... okay bad joke."
Julie giggled.
Rachel
"I just hope for healthy without painful powers. I just hope that Mac's painful mutation won't transfer. That reminds me, I'd better call Hank and make an appointment. Hey, if I'm going to go all the way to New York for a check-up, want to have lunch together?"
Julie
"Sure," Julie agreed. "Actually, I went down to the school the other day: Tinga is so over sensitive to everything, so Bobby suggested I talk to the Professor about it in case it was power related or something. And guess what? It is. Tinga has these super-enhanced senses for her power, the poor baby."
Rachel
"Oh, poor thing. Actually, the kids need their check-up too, so maybe we'll all come over for a playdate. I definitely miss living at the same house as you," Rachel declared.
Julie
"I miss it too," Julie replied. "A play date sounds like fun. Oh, you haven't seen Bobby's and my apartment yet have you?"
Julie carefully put Josh back in his crib.
Rachel
"No, I don't think so," Rach replied. 'Why don't I call Hank and set up an appointment, then call you back?"
Julie
"Okay," Julie replied. "Sounds good. Talk to you in a bit."
She hung up, and continued tending to her children's requirements whilst waiting for Rachel's call back.
