Today Psylocke was doing a screen test in the special effects department.
"Psylocke, right?" asked a young man, clipboard in hand.
"Yep."
"I'm Brad. I understand you have a psionic sword thing?"
"Yep."
"Okay, we just want to see it work, and how well it records. I understand it showed up on your original application?"
"Yes."
"So, how do you do it?"
"I just create it in my mind," Psylocke held out her hand in a gripping posture, and formed a katana.
Brad's eyebrows raised as he looked at it in all it's purple glory.
"Impressive. Does it have to come in purple?"
"No. That's just my favourite colour."
Brad grinned, eyes appraising her hair.
"Might have guessed," he said. "So, am I actually seeing this sword? Or is it all in my head?"
"On you're actually seeing it," Psylocke assured him. "And technically it's a katana."
"Right, okay. Well, if you wouldn't mind moving over there, please?"
Psylocke dissolved the katana and moved where he indicated.
"Okay, well, I'm going to ask you to create it again in a minute," Brad said, setting down the clipboard and moving behind the camera. "And then if you could... do stuff with it. Can you actualy cut objects with it?"
"It can. I could use it to slice off all your clothes without physically harming you," Psylocke considered. "You may end up with a headache though."
Brad chuckled.
"It can also disrupt neural relays."
"Okay, well, for this first shot, just create it, and swing it around," he looked around and then waved someone over. "Did you bring those materials I asked for?"
"Yeah."
"Can you bring them over please?"
"Sure."
"As in now."
"Oh! Oh, yeah."
Brad shook his head as his suboridinate raced off.
"When he comes back, we'll do some sucessive scenes just shooting you cut stuff in half. We have various pieces of stuff we have props and costumes made out of. Basically, what we're trying to do, is asertain how well your sword - katana - is taped, both stationary and in action."
Psylocke nodded.
"This is just so when ti comes time to film, we know what materials are best to be used, or if some computer enhancement is required."
"Makes sense."
"Ready?"
"Ready."
The shooting went on for a couple of hours. Brad was suitably impressed by the end of it and promised to let her know the results.
