Next Step

Walker

Walker had been working on something in his study when it suddenly occurred to him that he hadn't called Wayne to let him know about Avery's decision yet. He'd originally intended to leave him a message Thursday night, but obviously he'd been caught up in something else.

He pondered for a moment if Wayne would be free this weekend, before picking up his phone and dialling Wayne's direct line.

Wayne

Wayne swallowed his sip of coffee, put down his mug and picked up his ringing phone.

"Wayne Thompson," he said, answering it.

Walker

"Wayne, how are you?" Walker smiled.

"I spoke with Avery about your proposition on Thursday evening. I meant to call you after but I must have been side tracked."

Wayne

"Ahh, Walker. I'm good, and yourself?" Wayne replied. "I could do with being side tracked myself occasionally. So, what did Avery think?"

Walker

"She's agreed to go along with it," Walker informed, "she's rather eager to find out what will happen. Did you have a date in mind?"

Wayne

"That's great," Wayne replied.

He tapped a few buttons on the keyboard.

"Well, I didn't have any particular date in mind," he went on. "What's conveinient for you?"

Walker

"Perhaps early next month?" Walker suggested.

"Avery has decided to stay on the station indefinitely for now, but I still wouldn't like to rush her."

Wayne

"Sounds good to me," Wayne replied. "Tell you what, I'll let them know that you could show up anytime in the first two weeks of May. When you have a more specific time, just let me know. Christian's time is a lot more flexible."

Walker

"Great idea," Walker smiled.

"I'll see when she has time between her classes and call you. And Wayne? Good luck."

Wayne

"Thank you. And thank Avery as well," Wayne replied.

The two men said their goodbyes and hung up.
