Friday had opted to spend the break from school at the school. A few years ago, if you had told her she would have done that, she would have laughed in your face. However, she had no particular desire to go home - even if she did go via teleporter. Her sleep patterns would go out of whack and she wouldn't be there very long before she had to return. She could have gone to New York, but somehow there was no lure for her to do that. It was crowded at Julie's and she didn't know very many of the people at Xavier's since her class had graduated.
So in the end, she stayed at the school. She used the time to futher her training. Friday still felt responsible for Lilly's death and was determined not to repeat the experience. She had located some articles from the YIRAAS newsletter on telepathy and had been studying them fiercly. In addition, she had also been spending time in the gym, and trying to find any more information on vampires (although the likelyhood of her finding anything new was remote at best).
Friday also spent some time at the Paladin school. As it turned out, they were rather fond of battlegames over there, and Eron XV had taught her how to play. While she saw the games as being a little frivolous, Eron and his friends maintained that they would good for honing tactical thinking.
"Good morning Friday," Ryder nodded as she entered the stables.
"Morning."
"I thought you might be coming this morning. I set Firestorm aside for you. He's in stall 12."
"Thanks," Friday nodded.
"No problem," and Ryder went back to shovelling hay.
Friday walked over to stall 12.
"Hi Firestorm," she said cheerfully.
A sadle and bridle later, and Friday and Firestorm were out, galloping across the fields. Friday loved these mornings. Going out riding was about the only thing that had made her feel alive since Lilly died.
