The Adventures of Rogue: In my head

Written by Michelle

Rogue

Rogue woke up in strange bed in a strange room. And yet... it was all familiar.

It came to her in a rush then, the events of yesterday. She had absorbed Caretaker operative Ms Marvel, whom like Calvin, had been to death. Unlike her more temporary absorbsions these days, Ms Marvel had managed to take over her body, much like Calvin had, although in this case Rogue knew she had let her.

Ms Marvel had debriefed Mick. Rogue felt like she had witnessed the whole thing from a distance. But the whole experience has been benefitual to both women. Ms Marvel had been able to clear up the mystery surrounding her bodys' beaten state, pass on the valuable information which had cost her her life, and most importantly, deal wth some final personal affairs. Rogue had learned everything Ms Marvel knew about ther Caretakers and her fears were alleviated.

Rogue flipped the covers off and got out of bed. She caught her reflection in the mirror then and blanched - ugh who would wear that to bed?

Rogue made her way over to the wardrobe and that when the horror really did hit. It was clear that she and Ms Marvel had every different tastes in clothes. She closed the doors and looked around for her own closed. She sensed Ms Marvel 'pulling a face' as it were as she dressed herself, but Rogue felt that Ms Marvel would just have to deal with it - this was her body and her dress sense would not be dictated to by anyone but her.

Rogue noted her bag on the floor then. She picked it up to make sure that everything was in there - yes it was fine. but she should really get back to her hotel and check on her fuzzles. It was on this that Rogue picked up her bag and exited the room.

She was on her way out when Mick crossed her path.

"Ahh, good," he said. "You're up. Glad I caught you. Leaving so soon?"

"Ah have othah things to deal with."

"Like what?" Mick mused.

"None of your business," Rogue frowned, and tried to move past.

"Ms Marvel -"

"Muh name's Rogue."

"Oh..." Mick was silent for a moment. "Oh sorry."

"Look, Ah did you you a favah. You got your infa'mation. Ah just want to go now. Ah want to go back to muh hotel room, get muh fuzzles and be on muh way."

"Where?"

"Huh?"

"Where are you headed? Y'know after the hotel."

"That's none of your business. And even if it was, Ah'm not sure Ah'd tell you. Of course, you'll probably just follow me anyway."

"Probably," Mick said cheerfully. "But say, Rogue, why don't you come work for us?"

"Why? Because Ah have Ms Marvel in muh head now?" Rogue asked sarcastically. "Ah'd make a fine replacement for your star spy. Why you practially still have her, just in another body."

"I was going to offer you the job even before Ms Marvel came into it."

Rogue shook her head.

"Ah'm not sure that Ah really want to work for people whose enemies can figure out how to injure a mutant with a power of invulnerability."

Mick nodded apprasingly.

"That was a good trick, huh? Our working theory at the moment is that they found some sort of poison, or drug. Something can can be swallowed or inhaled. Ms Marvel, although invulnerable, was still subject to the flu just like everybody else."

"Whatever," Rogue said, pushing past.

However, she pushed Mick a little harder than intended and he fell back into the wall, and left a dent. Rogue turned at the sound and her eyes widened.

Mick pulled himself out of the wall and looked at her.

"Guess you've still got her strength," he said.

There was silence for a moment as Rogue searched her mind.

"Ah have all of her powers still," she said softly, "it happens when Ah absorb someone to death - Ah've only done it once before. That's how Ah got atom manipulation, and still have it now. It looks like Ah have Ms Marvels' powers permanently too."
