Noah sat down on the couch, cradling his guitar in his hands. His fingers danced over the strings, a slowish sad sort of melody playing out from under his hands.
He looked up through the glass to see Adam giving him a thumbs up. Opening his mouth, he leaned forward to the mic and started to sing, fingers never stopping over the guitar.
"I don't need no more hassle from you
I've already had much more than I can take
Should've left you, just walked out that door
When I found out who you were was completely fake
And you weren't listening too hard
Because I know I warned you from the start
But you weren't listening to me, now were you?
Can you stop thinking about yourself
For a moment and just focus on me?
Try to find a second to care about
What you left behind today
But you weren't listening too hard
Coz under all my words, a breaking heart
You didn't see the way you broke me, now did you?
I've gotta get away from you...
And you weren't listening too hard
Under all my words a fading heart
So give me your best and I'll take it
I'll turn around and make it about me
Turn it all around..."
Noah played the end melody then looked up again at the glass. Pete was nodding, listening with his headphones on and Chris was reading a drumming magazine. Adam was talking to one of the techs, then he pressed a button and spoke into the mic that piped into the booth.
"I think it sounds ace as an acoustic track," Adam said, scratching his chin.
"Yeah, I was thinking that as I played. I think going electric would drown it out," Noah replied as he entered the room with the rest of the band.
"Not if it wasn't heavy," Chris piped up, looking away from his magazine. "But I agree that acoustic is nicer for this song."
"I think I wanna make the bass part in 'Confessions' a little more edgy," Adam mused, collapsing against his seat.
"Do it," Pete replied. "Hey, they're ready for us."
The band all made their way to their respective instruments. Pete kicked it off with a screeching guitar riff and they were afoot.
"She's got issues, yes she does
She doesn't see the way that she
Places all this pain deep inside of me
She doesn't listen to me say
She is selfish, she is lame
Until that day we meet again
I'll keep you in my heart my friend
I give her everything I've got
But my efforts are forgot
Maybe it's not meant to be
But I know that you love me
She will never ever know
That we could've made it so
It took you so long to see
But I know that you love me
Now it's over and I'm getting over
All the crap that you fed me
Oh I could've been your friend
Now it's over and it's plain to see that
You are not the girl for me
Oh why, you could've been my friend
It's over, it's over, it's over again
It's over, it's over, it's over again
It's over, it's over, it's over again
(I have seen the light, I have seen the light)
It's over, it's over, it's over again
(I have seen the light, I have seen)
It's over, it's over, it's over again
(I have seen the light, I have seen the light)
It's over, it's over, it's over again
(I have seen the light, I have seen)
COME ON!"
